1) Syncers from ID/Asian dists fight primarily other syncers.
2) If I want to do some Arenas but I only have 1 or 2 friends on, why would I go to TA and lose a bunch of matches with a pug that doesn't know what they're doing when I can go sync RA and increase my chances of winning significantly?
3) Making other people happy is not one of my objectives when I'm playing Arenas. I play to win, and whatever I can do to increase my chances of winning, I'll do.
4) I've done my fair share of TA, and I've gotta say, the format is nearly dead. Unless Anet does something to breathe life into TA, I can't really say I ever plan on playing it seriously again.

Agreed,

Yes I do not TA because I will get beaten, that is because everyone knows, I am no total noob, but I am not gonna bother vs'ing the G9/10 TA groups when they are on, it is stupid and a waste of time

open your eyes GW is dead, stop qq'ing

2nd of all, I have personally seen ZoS sync, so anet obviously don't give a shit about it and probably never will so plz, just meh close thread
So your saying because you cant win in TA you should be allowed to sync ra and abuse the system to gain gladiator points to try and make yourself look better? Oh ok, now we have that straight... and grow up? laughable.

Just because ZoS sync doesnt make it ok and anet wont know individual cases and if GW is so dead, dont QQ about others QQing about a dead game.

As for the issue itself, syncing into the 'random arena' is inherently wrong, and adding a /report could work. As for TA being dead, fixing several skills would assist it immensly (but no point beating the dead horse about fixing TA), which may also deter some from syncing random arenas.

Syncing IS allowed and not considered cheating/greifing/reportable offense/dishonorable or anything else. I asked the help desk this back during wintersday and posted the answer on this site. Definately beating a Dead Decaying and Damn near Skeletal Horse.

Still think it would be a nice suggestion to have XXXX arenas have a totally random(no sync possible) section and one where you would could chose you team prior to entering. Making players perform syncing seems silly and it should be option people can choose. Cut your teeth in the totally random arena then move to the area where you can form a team prior to battling.

lol. Same thing always happens to me.

And if people are syncing, that defeats the purpose of RA. Thus, it needs to be disabled somehow.

I like syncs, I usually beat them if I have a decent team and then have the chance to make fun of them bc they are bad.

Also, r3 glad is gud. LOL.

Old news. And also, do people still think Anet cares to improve this game on their own? Anything that Anet does now is merely to give the impression that they still care about the community and the game.

The only way this would get fixed is by OP's suggestion, but it's not going to go through unfortunately.

lol, i do notice that my group usually doesn't have a monk, then the opposite team has either one or two monks how silly.

syncing doesn't seem to be a problem to me.
then again, I never check peoples guild tags
not too much of a bother, just go back and start over

Yes TA is a dead, rotting corpse where it's exceedingly difficult for less experienced players to get glad points if there is one good team in (some of the TA pr0s actually argued against the current point system...). That doesn't really make a good argument for syncing RA though. It used to be kinda a novelty that only serious lamers did but now everyone is doing it and if you leave from ID or Asian, where you have a chance of getting decent teammates you'll be fighting syncers regularly...which wouldn't be all bad except they all run shit builds that are boring to play against (like TA).

I'm not pulling my hair out over the holy random areans being ruined by some lamers, but it did use to be kinda fun playing from ID before all the people running farm builds and then farm sync teams overran it. U just look like an asshole defending it because TA is dead. At the end if that it's not worth anet's time to fix though considering they allot about 1 man hour a month towards PvP as a whole.

I'm resurrecting this post, because I had an idea on this line.

Why dont make random teams even between teams that have won a match? I mean your team have won a match, but for sure you won't be in the same team in the next round. In this way, syncers will say bb to glad points so easily.

Rei are you trying to say teams that win are randomized again as if they are just joining the battle for the first time? That would add an extra level of flavor to RA, but glad points would be much less likely as you could go from a great team that works well together, to a team that's full of newbs/noobs.

Whatever they do I don't care, as long as this situation is fixed. Syncing in RA destroys the concept of it. BTW, TA is NOT dead, and it would be more lively if people stopped syncing. I figure people that sync are either cowards who can't hold their own in TA, and are looking for an easy fight. Or they're just farming glad points and balth faction, either way, fix it please.

No, they don't care, I've been told making too much noise to too many Arena Net employee is wasting their time, but ITS THE ONLY WAY TO GET YOUR ATTENTION AND FINALLY ADMITTING THAT IT IS AN EXPLOIT! Good job Arena Net. While admitting that its an exploit, they choose not to do anything about it and that I should not have my hopes up that this problem will be solve. so Go ahead and sync people sync!!!!!

*goes play some other mmorpg, there's no sync there *

Edit:
Ms Regina, if you'rereading this, I am not the one who started all those posts on 3 different Arena Net employees' talk page, I posted because you guys let users put false information such as "official approval of syncing by arena net" which was on one of the Arena net staffs talk page for so long, and you think for someone like me, who hate sync so much, once reading that title would not say anything to make sure that its not taken the wrong way?

Since this problem has progress in this direction, I would be content if Arena Net would simply issue an official announcement preferably against sync, telling players that sync in Random Arena is against the rules. There's no need to change a thing, if players wants to sync knowing its against the rules, that's their problem and we know they cheated. Not having an official announcement would only further aggravate those players who hate sync in the game, and also allow sync players to openly taunt these players to no end because Arena Net did not make a stand on this issue. If you issue an official announcement the other way, which I hope not, but I would not hesitate to sync RA myself, as this exploit is easy and has proven to be successful.

A team with a healer vs. a team w/o a healer doesn't always win. If you make a character that will really devastate their healer, or at least distract it, you can leave it to your team members to do their job, if they are skillful enough. Really, it takes skilled players with good builds in the team for it to win.

Abuse as in they synced 4 players with organized builds into RA. This is pretty obvious. One (or perhaps both, I didn't notice) Warrior is wearing no armor. Both Warriors have Frenzy / Primal Rage. The Monks maintain Protective Spirit on the Warriors. This does not happen unless it is a synchronized team. The players concerned are likely coordinated by Ventrillo or other voice chat programs as well.

I realize that syncing has been a problem in Guild Wars for quite a while, and nothing has been done about it, so I intend to clear up whether or not syncing is an offence once and for all.

The first section of the Guild Wars rules of conduct states:

While playing Guild Wars, you must respect the rights of others and their rights to play and enjoy the game. To this end, you may not defraud, harass, threaten, or CAUSE DISTRESS and/or unwanted attention to other players. You will not report players maliciously, or cause them to be investigated without reason.

The players concerned caused distress for me, and probably other RA players, by using teambuilds that are well-synergized and meant for TA in RA. They also coordinate themselves via voice chat, something RA players cannot do. This allows them to run, in the extreme case, coordinated spike builds (eg. Shovespike). A variety of players have complained about this, for example here: http://www.guildwarsguru.com/forum/s...php?t=10349583

I therefore ask this question for once and for all. Is syncing against the rules? Do they violate the Guild Wars rules of conduct? Can the players who do so be banned, or at least suspended?

I will probably share your response with the community, so please take time to consider it.

Thanks.
As I said I would, I reported the next group of obvious syncers to ArenaNet. Let's see what the response is.

So do RA teams, because they'd rather stay in RA than get smooshed by a premade team that's very well coordinated. RA teams stay in RA because it's random, and not designed for realistic competitive play, it's where you go for a cheap laugh, to try out builds, to make friends, to maybe get a surprise, and generally just have fun while killing some time. There's no surprise in syncing, it's a cheap method of either obtaining gladiator points, or enlarging one's e-peen. Take your pick on the two, they're equally sad.

Actually, to correct myself on what I posted at first, no, RA teams don't often resign at 10 wins. Most have the stones to at least try TA.

In order to fix syncing I guess I really don't know of a solution, since I don't know how it works currently. I don't understand how it could even become such a problem to begin with, but it obviously is. Perhaps they could make it so that the people that hit enter simultaneously are forced to join with people that joined at completely different times? It would probably eliminate the problem, but I don't know how hard it would be to program and such.

Currently, It is not a violation to join a battle at the exact same time as your friends. This can be accomplished by something as simple as counting down in chat before entering the map. We certainly understand that it can be frustrating to go up against coordinated teams, but it is not a violation to hit the "Enter Battle" button at the same time as someone else.

The design team is aware of this concern within the community and has noted that some players would like game mechanics to reduce or prevent syncing. The design team will be reviewing possible changes in the future, although we do not have a timeframe for any possible changes.

Please let us know if you need help with anything else.

Nothing more we can do, is there? Now I'm seriously wondering if I should attempt to sync a Shovespike team into RA, just to flaunt the usual rules of sportsmanship.

i think fixing random arenas is something that should have been done 21/2 years ago. with that said i would like to see a larger random arena but 8v8 is to big 5v5 would be nice seeing as you would have a higher chance of getting a bit more rounded team (thought behind this is 10 professions now) or maybe a 6v6 style. but i also think these other arenas should be separate, and maybe it should be like gvg where you select the type of battle.
