in the case of a): I will not add any tormented weapons in my HoM, as Destroyer weapons are WAY cheaper, and I'll get the same weapon set unlocked in GW2 as people who have a full Tormented Valor Shrine.
in the case of b): I will add Tormented weapons to my shrine. (I just hope to have them all before I can say: "look at those Tormented prices soar!")
Yup, they already fixed that a while ago. Can't finf the update notes though...

You aren't going to get anything of real value from building up your HOM it's just something they put into the game to keep you playing an interested in GW2. Because you don't know what you're going to get it puts that need to do it attitude in your brain. They can't give anything major out as that would hurt them in sales of GW2 for any new comers. The smart people will wait to see what they would be getting before even putting any time or effort into the HOM. If it's just a silly skin and not even a max item then it's hardly worth the effort. If it is a silly skin and a maxed item then it would be unfair to any and all new comers to GW2 and they most likely wouldn't buy into it. Robbing peter to pay paul has never worked in most instances in the long run.
Think of all the bonus gear we've gotten for the chapters so far? The majority of it has been crap. I think the only thing I got any value out of the bonus items I received were the blue ice scythe and the spear +5 energy +7 armor vs physical (used them on my heroes, but, would never consider using them on my main characters).
Also, the other thing we now know is you just don't need max anything to beat this game. In many instances especially in normal mode you can waltz around the game with just henchies and heroes and not even fight and beat the majority of the entire game. So another reason items won't be of much value that they would give you as bonuses for doing silly stuff in your HOM.
For the most part GW in regular play normal mode is about the most dumbed down rpg game I've played in a long time. There's really nothing hard or challenging about it compared to games like Diablo 2 or Neverwinter Nights 1 & 2 which also are pretty easy, but, do progress into harder more challenging modes as you play through them again with other difficulty settings just like Hard mode in Gw relates to Nightmare and Hell mode in Diablo 2 and NWN's gets progressively harder each time you start over with a maxed out character.
So I wouldn't expect a whole lot out of GW2 as I've the feeling most are going to be pretty disappointed in the bonuses from HOM when GW2 comes out.
