Check out Zidane's post. Some good advice for Rits.

Rits can pretty much provide what ever support a group needs cept tank.
They can do decent damage and support the group so it does more damage.
They can buff and heal...and have nice rez options.
Great energy management.
Alot of fun to play.

As far as the primarys go, Fast Casting doesn't generaly get a bunch of attribute points but Mesmers are still a great class. The thing is, fast casting helps a Mesmer do its job a bit better....and Sawning power adds to many Rit skills.

I haven't played a Rit long and may at some point find the class lacking but so far it seems to be able to do well at any situation its been in. Real fun class to play to :P

in short

As a primary, they suck in most cases

as a secondary, their skills make great utilities.

Only reason i have one, is their awesome sense of style. Seriously, they are pimped out!

If they fix spawning power, then maybe the class has a chance

Don't know why many people think they need to compare different classes to "find out" which one is best or worst. Every class is good in what they do and it doesn't really matter which one you choose. Just put some time and effort into your favourite one and enjoy the game. In my opinion such topics are often taken too serious. I mean, it's not that it will be impossible for you to win Hard Mode missions, vanquish the world or achieve any more difficult titles if you play as a ritualist. Put those who cherish the illusion that their build pawns yours on ignore and you'll be fine.

To provide an example on what rits can do ...

For a long time I tried to find a good runner for Rragar's Menagerie in HM. I've been with quite a few 600 monks, who all failed to get to the end and then joined a rit (with 2 hero monks), who completed this difficult dungeon very fast and without dying even once.

rits are a very capable class and are not crippled in any way compared to other classes. what makes u think that they are crippled?

If only Rits, or any part of GW, truly operated on the "easy to learn, difficult to master" principle, perhaps they wouldn't be so derided. As it is, I gathered that some players just want 1234 = win. The rest of us just want the common courtesy that should grow from being within a community of gamers.

I'm just waiting for GW2, now.

I don't get why everybody says Rits have style.
They are totally ugly, their armor as well as the Factions faces.
Every class in the game (except for Warriors, duh) looks better. Well, maybe Assassins are as ugly as Ritualists.
Their animation is even worse then their outfit. Doing spastical moves for 3 to 5 seconds to summon some bound spirit? Really?

Mesmers have style. Ritualists are just glorified bushmen.

Rit primary = 16 channelling. 16 is about 50% more damage than 12. Also, N/Rt is useless in PvP. Of course go N primary in PvE, there are tons of sto0f for your Soul Reaping, but in PvE, Monks got the healing blocked out guys. I have several major Rt/A builds that can spike 500 AoE dmg to Nearby range within 3 seconds. If that is worthless, tell me what isn't?
