Thats a smart comment, keep pushing them until they break it for good. Then instead of you LOLing at anet you will be crying about it. They are already uncomfortable with it as outlined below:
"We recognize the fact that farming with Shadow Form-based builds can be really fun, so we have not resorted to breaking the ability to keep Shadow Form up permanently. However, we continue to be uncomfortable with the speed in which players are able to complete various popular farming runs." |

[Palm Strike] THE NEW HB META
jaximus
well i appreciate the effort on the skill update.
i think SF shoulda been hit harder, personally i think this is a transitional nerf, itll be like this for a bit to knock out some of the permas and then the next update will finish the job.
monk elites, wtf? boon sig seems semi alright for fa, jq, ab perhaps? never main stream pvp. maybe some use in pve on the prot. life sheath, bleh, i liked it as it was before a bit more. elite reversal? nty. if it healed for that much always but negated however much yeah it would be fine, but no. peace and harmony? perhaps a lame attempt at a secondary usage, but again, its divine, so fail. people may say wow 9 hexes/conditions! but really are you gonna drop rc for it? no, monk meta wont change one bit. peace and harmony should have been made into a set and forget holy veil + spotless soul + spotless mind.
archers sig? lol what? waste an elite on what i can with another arrow under apply? no.
palm strike, too good. simple as that.
incoming? yay for fall back with gold trim!
but, the weird thing is, whirling axe vs. cleave. hmm? anet why not fix core skills first!?

Well, I agree that overall the changes are good or they are skills I never use anyway but I still insist that the changes to Incoming! are incomprehensible.
Now I get a 2nd Fall Back! which is a skill that I don't normally use anyway. So yes, it is disappointing. I can still play my paragon but I really don't have use for an elite skill in my normal pve gaming now since I like to play command support. I could of course change to a damage dealer build but I prefer to play a support build and to start playing a motivation build just now I got a r9 command draconic aegis...well, it does sort of suck.
All in all, the derv and para have the least amount of skills of all classes and you notice it especially when skills get nerfed cause you get affected a lot quicker and Command only has 3 elites and Incoming was the best one as far as I was concerned...well, guess Anet doesn't feel Command needs useful elite skills...

Nice update I like the changes to the Monk elites as well as 100blades.
Leave Life Sheath alone.

There's something I don't understand: I have seen ALOT of people whining about how monks are nerfed... But why, exactly? Boon Signet got a sweet buff, whereas before it was just bad, Life Sheath got majorly buffed and will (should) get nerfed soon, PnH, probably the same, and Ray of Judgement is actually decent now. |

They won't get nerfed, save a couple of them. They won't get nerfed because they don't give a shit about the game and it's balance anymore, so they're fighting Power Creep versus Power Creep.

From a warriors perspective, peace and harmony is sexy, you should read the 2nd clause on it, where conditions and hexes expire 90% faster, and that you can maintain pnh permanantly
|
I don't see how you get that idea...with divine favour on 0 it removes 0 hexes or conditions and the 90% thing has a duration of 1 second.
So please explain what you mean because I do not know how you can maintain it permanently on a warrior, while the duration is 1 second and recast is 7 seconds and it costs 5 to cast.
Even if a monk casts it on your warrior it will last 6 seconds if that monk has divine favour of at least 14 and an ench mod on his staff/sword. and the recast is still 7.
So please read that 2nd clause again because you see something there I don't obviously.

Man im glad I don't really need SF anymore lol, Hundred Blades update seems pretty cool.

first of all izzy good job on the skill balancing .... even though i would have went about it in a different way i think you did an awsome job.
BUT... unfortunately that was Dr. Jekyll speaking... now come Mr. Hyde:
Izzy... i keep posting regarding this all the time... are you mental? why do you keep doing that to paragons?
Angelic Bond? im sure you could have done better.... 30 sec recharge? goes off every all? Interruptable? come on? i havent decided whether you just hate the paragon class or whether you just want to leave them in the last place...
cant you see we, as paragons are already having problems in pvp why would you do that. My suggestion
Same effect, 20 sec recharge, duration 8 seconds and ffs doesnt go off from the other party members....
doesnt that look like balance.. still interruptable and 164 heal points isnt alot dont think that its gonna have thta much of an effect.
and izzy... incoming... bad move... i would rather use fall back... why waste an elite slot? bring DA and fall back!
bad moves with the paragon class
i hope you start thinking the class out a bit because i dont think you get their position in the game cos otherwise you wouldnt to that

So, [[Hundred Blades] ignores block, blind, miss, or anything other than adjacent range or whether you hold a sword and swing it. Is that intended?

current meta is all about cleaning and / or keeping melee clean for spike, PnH is perfect for that
1 second blurred vision ? lol

What I'm wondering is hundred blades damage against 80 AL targets.
Look like a new barrage though. I'm pleased

I agree overall skill changes made to this game since day one have done nothing but drive players away and make the game worse. They have designed a game that can never ever be balanced and they cannot seem to grasp that fact. We are over three years in to this game, it is high time they stop this madness, leave GW alone and go screw up GW2 as only they can.
|
2) Uh..they'e basically admitted that the way they designed GW1 caused a huge balance issue, which is why instead of doing the campaign every 6 months, they're making GW2. These changes are through 1 or 2 people. Not all of anet's staff. So your last half of your paragraph was kind of a waste of typing.

I'm laughing at people here.
EVERYBODY has been complaining about the prevelance of hexway and stacked hexes. There was a really long thread complaining about it. A.net gives monks an elite to deal with it and gets rid of a worthless elite in one shot, and people complain because "no one was complaining about needing to remove hexes faster." Contradiction much?
And life sheath is sweet. Will probablly see a nerf. Same with palm strike (when used properly). Only real downside to it is that it often screws up sins conditional "while attacking/getting critical hits" skills so I don't think I'll use it in PvE much since it won't synergy well with critical agility.
Everybody who is melodramic about this please relax. A) the game isn't "lossing people in droves." Three years after release it is still on of the top 5 populated online games. Skill updates are the most minor of all things when it comes to driving people away. Especially when the skills changed are bad, unused ones. B) if you don't know about the meta don't make wild acusations about the meta

Truthfully I don't play GW anymore so it won't effect me, only reason I logged in, friend said they Nerf SF, so I went to see, if they do indeed Nerf it once again they show there STUPIDITY as a developer, they are F N stupid for allowing god mode in the game, but since they are F N dumb they are slowly Nerfing it while not looking like the retard that allowed it in the first place.

Palm strike is pretty broken...big fail there. Otherwise interesting updates...
distilledwill
palm strike does sound like it'll be making a big smash fairly soon.
Strike as One sounds really interesting on paper.. not all that good in reality. Tried it and it was pretty meh, the reaction time of pets applying the bleeding just isnt fast enough for me.

New build fixes Cultist Fervour. Now only works on necromancer spells (or at least in-game description now states that).
noneedforclevernames
Mesmers can't perma anymore )= tried it..if the duration was maybe a second longer i could maintain..

been playing with aura of lich....oh nice 17 death....better than what I was using.....will look at the rest later---back to mm.

Being ambitiously UBERish that I am, I was thinking something more of a buff to Life Sheath. Now, it suffice as an elite Reversal Damage with extras. Warrior elites look pretty cool, especially Primal Rage. It's about damn time it got a good change. Hundred Blades looks nice too. Personally for my builds I won't use either one of the new updated warrior, or monk elites. Still, I am pleased with the updates. Kudos.

This update works well for me because one I have an A/R that I have been playing because my D/Mo needs money. any ways, the following is an explanation of how this may impact other A/R.
Ok so lets start with the A/R
As stated:
Assassin:
Shadow Form: recharge reduced to 45 seconds, duration reduced to 5..21 seconds.
Makes it so much more easy to to continue being in Shadow Form, but when compiled with:
(for me at least because i dont have Shadow form)
Palm Strike: recharge time reduced to 4 seconds. Functionality changed to: Target touched foe is struck for 10..85 damage and is Crippled for 5..15 seconds. This skill counts as an off hand attack.
It will make life so much more easier. I mostly use a combination that after I execute the abillty to posion my weapons, I can bring a creature 4-6 levels higher then me down in like 30-60 seconds which is reduced from 1- 2minutes.
I like these updates (for the assassin) because they make it easier to bring bosses down, complete missions quicker and gain more gold. even when or if the Assassin wasnt a "farming character" it still benifits both farmers and no farmers in not only gaining much needed platnium (gold) but in also completing harder areas.
Thats my thoughts

primal rage, shared burden, and double dragon were the three updates that made me go OMG. sounds like they would be fun to experiment with.

Anyone else seeing Peace and Harmony the most ungodly over buffed removal tool in game? Anet isn't even trying to balance anymore. They're just trying to get everyone playing again. New stuff, woo hoo. New over powered stuff, OMG GASM! I'm going back to PvE until all of this shit gets nerfed back to a semblance of balance.

Peace and Harmony change should've been applied to Withdraw Hexes. Couldn't that horrible hex removal skill been changed instead?
Hundred Blades is pretty horrible. Enraged Smash looks hot. Elite Frenzy?
Elite "Fallback!"... okay?

Agreed, see Warrior section for details in that regard.
I reckon, of all the new skills, Symbols Of Inspiration will the most fun to play around with. Maybe along with the Revealed/Inspired spells and Arcane Mimicry.
Also, has anyone tried a trapper yet? I'm interested to see how effective the pulses on Spike Trap are combined with other traps and domage buffs.

Shame that Healing Light wasnt buffed. Everything else is good, although I did like the previous Life Sheath on heroes.
Wont Seaguard Gita and Redemptor Karl need skill updates? Why leave them with RoF, Life Sheath, Draw Conditions and Mend Ailment? What was previously a great prot hench bar is now crap as they have too many skills that do the same thing.

14 Swordsmanship it's 24 slashing damage. If I want AoE I use Splinter Weapon since it:
1) Ignores armor
2) Isn't elite
3) Basically has 100% uptime
I'm not wasting my warrior's elite on a skill that in no way makes the target I'm attacking die faster. Outside of Urgoz and maybe The Deep I will never have more enemies balled up than Splinter Weapon can hit.
Hundred Blades is just another gimmick farming tool, something this game really did not need more of. It's like saying Focused Anger is the best elite because it powers one of the strongest skills in the game, "Save Yourselves!". Without Focused Anger I get a warrior with Dragon Slash, without Hundred Blades I just run... whatever warriors do nowadays for farming, VwK or something. Nothing interesting comes from this change except making a farming build faster. The notion I heard of before about making a PvE version that hit 3 times on a 6 second recharge would've been much more appealing. It's not like anyone in their right mind is going to use this in PvP anyway.

How about Hundred Blades AND Splinter Weapon? Huh? Tank AoE mayhem!

Hundred Blades is excellent, conjure + 100 blades = 100 dps on a single target in pvp, i wonder if anet did that on purpose!
