So ... why don't YOU /report?
Fay Vert
I used to report leechers every time. Now I only do it half the time because ANet punishes you for reporting leechers.
Pure stupidity, and laziness. Anet have known about this problem from day one but obviously don't care.

I dont report for the same reason Izzy doesnt fix OP skills, just cant be bothered :P

So I am currently happily leeching Competitive Missions since I need the 10k Kurzick faction to advance some of my guys and well ... like I care giving an excuse.
Anyway, as I was happily standing at the respawn point looking all smashing as I noticed an interesting trend. Nobody gives a shit. People don't rage, people don't throw hissy fits and people do not report. When I am playing, my fingers are glued to the /report command and I am VERY trigger happy. You leech - your ass gets reported. Today - nothing. Maybe a person per game and that's it. So ... why aren't YOU reporting the leeching bastards? |

I don't report because four times out of five, other people won't do it with me in enough numbers to not get penalized for it.

i report when others did. but today i reported 2 leeches and only one other person reported the first leech too. and oh guess what? i get the freaking hex??!!! wtf? now it seems anet only punishes the reporter and not the leech. so whats the point now? good job anet

ANet won't do any thing else, they already implemented a system, if the players don;t use it, well, its not ANet's fault is it?

I don't /report because nothing ever comes of it. The /report system is broken, Arenanet knows it, but they're just not doing anything about it.

I don't /report because they usually end up punishing the wrong people anyway.
Our guild got banned a week ago because apparently a clever play of words containing "feces" is profanity and doesn't belong in their precious game, the guild was over 6 months old ...
I don't know what kind of over-the-edge puritan decided to report the name, but hey, thanks, we reformed after over 1000 GvG victories.

I always report, its not backfired on me yet but my report very rarely gets upheld.
At the start of most JQ matches I say "Please report ANY leechers, otherwise we won't get anywhere!" then if I see anyone hiding inside an NPC or just standing in the spawn point I give them about 15 secs or so then I report and ping them saying "please report this guy for leeching". Usually nothing happens. Its disheartening, makes me realise how much some players wear blinkers - all they see if the particular person they want to kill, not anything going on around them.

For every leecher in jq i spam my team telling them to report that leecher. But i dnt understand why they dnt do it. Are people afraid to do it?

but i agree with mstarfire, you can report them but they dnt learn and hence they don't listen.

I report when I can or when I see others do it or know I have other people in my crew who also report. The whole system is pointless anyways. A 2 year old came up with it.
fb2000
Ive only reported once or twice. I came to realize most people that do report are actually damn weird, I got reported twice WHILST lagging for like 5 secs straight. That was in the damn middle of a JQ match. 5 secs lag after death = reported.
It isnt that big of an intellectual challenge to realize people dont move all the time, yet they aren't leeching. And how can you play and actually be the only guy typing something in team chat and be leeching 5 secs afterwards???
To all your fervant reporters, take a chill pill.

I used to religeously report, but the last couple of weeks the leeching has got so bad, regularly with two, three or four leechers that you just hex yourself. Now I don't bother, the leechers have won, ANet don't care and won't act, this is far to slow a response. Thye know the report system is broken, it's been acknowledged, but still no action.

Yeah I am totally pissed at this leaching and reporting crap.
Here is how to end all leaching...
Make the teams leader capable of kicking a member of the team mate that is leaching WHILE in the area.
This way when a team mate says.. Wait this sob is leaching..and POOF no more leaching.
Or that you only get the faction points if the foe is in your agro bubble and when you are dead you get no faction. This is the same for an explorable area. If you go with the party and kill stuff you get the xp and drops. IF you just stand there you get nothing.
So here I am fighting away and killing in JQ when I loose my server connection in the middle shrine.
I try and log out and log back in but my internet is not working so I have to reboot my router. I sign back in to GW and jump back on my toon and head to JQ waiting area and low and behold I am "Dishonored"
I absolutely FREAK out. Someone reported my ass for having lost internet connection? I was Really really mad.
So I send Anet a 30 minute letter asking them to explain their actions and how I violated the agreement. As a "legal User" they can not just willy nilly slap me with a ban on legal grounds without proper justification.
So I request an e-mail back explaining their actions in a timely manner in legal ease.
I log in the next day and I see that there is a new explanation regarding the banning of accounts. If someone reports someone that is not leaching that person will get the ban.
This is why not that many people are /report.

I don't think that would help, too much ability for the leader to grief the entire team 2 seconds before the final point. And agro is not a good indication. Longbow is out of agro range, and what about people escorting turtles? Monks preventing kills etc.
I would prefer it if whenever someone /reports, the rest of the team gets a vote message to click yes/no to determine if it is agreed. No penalty for the /reporter. Oh, and stick the yes/no box out of the way so it can't be spammed to grief by interfering with play.

The real problem... perma afkers and bots
1 round isnt a problem and a disconn isnt a problem, people wont mind that.
the same people game after game with leech bots ARE the problem
captcha will solve it. its lame... but leechers are even lamer. otherwise what's the point of having the title and faction anyways? it is low end PvP but still.
ANYTHING that prevents bots from auto entering is what's really needed. /report is lame.

Unlike the Naming Policy /reporting with this type of reporting system FAILS! because it takes too many people to report one person at the same time or YOU get the dishonor points and the afker/leecher gets to continue to go on happily leeching match after match because many others are too lazy to report them.
Bring in a /report system 1 on 1 without having to have others report at the same time just like the Naming policy report feature and then you'll get these leechers out of here. Anet strongly supports 1 on 1 Naming Policy violation reports, but, it appears they really don't care about leechers or afkers near as much.
And actually the best method to solve this leeching would be to put a chest or pole in the match at the end that you have to go touch to get your reward points. They do it in GVG I don't see why they couldn't put some structure to open in AB/JQ/FA as well for people to go touch or open. Of course AFKers wouldn't be touching it thus wouldn't be worth their time to leech, but, you would still probably have griefers who would just do it out of spite. Thus, if one goes two matches in a row without touching or opening a chest then they get banned for 10 minutes, 3rd time they get banned for 30 minutes, 4th time an hour and 5th time 72 hours.

I'm lucky, I almost never see leechers or other rule breakers.
But in the few cases I think I could report I don't because It's impossible to tell if others did so too, so I'm risking to get dishonored instead.
If there were a warning about other party members reporting or a message popping when someone reports so I can read the reason and just with one click over an Accept button report too if I think that's right, I would definitely use it much more often.

Two problems with trying to /report on the Luxon side in FA.
You can't report for leeching before the countdown timer ends (you can only report for botting or other things) so players are forced to waste time during the actual fight trying to report.
You can't click on a name to /report unless you're within a certain range of the leecher. If their name is grayed out you have to type it out completely... which is a pain to do while fighting or running.
Anet should allow us to report leechers at the beginning of a match (before the countdown timer ends). Hardly anyone is going to report once the match has begun.
And how about implementing perma-bans for leeching/botting in these areas?

I used to Report. Then I saw the same person again and again, despite getting reported, and realized that reporting leechers DOES NOTHING in the long run.
If Anet would take away faction from repeat offenders, then they would notice.

It is hectic in PvP. To report requires some spare time, which isn't usual. AB and Competitive missions are an example. If the player is especially playing a warrior, there is no time to report.
