Concept Art for GW2
HawkofStorms
Hehe true, LucasArts gets hand tied by concept art sometimes. The concept art picture for the Force Unleashed of a guy pulling a Star Destroyer to the ground with the Force was so popular that they just HAD to make a level about it in the game, even though it was actually one of the least fun parts of the whole game. No way they could cut it after so many people on forums were going "OMG that's AWESOME."

First Screen looks like a Juggernaut and Sylvari...
And this Knight is very nice...

In passing, here's what I've found too:
Pics that Kekai and other Anet artteam members show in the ImagineFX magazine (#44, June 2009): There's a very nice Char on page 41, a Water Djinn/Margonite with four arms on page 44, the 2 IntoThePixel winners plus other nice pics (one looking like a City of Ascalon? one from Utopia IIRC, a very nice lady with an eagle, a futuristic city?) on page 52-53, a centaur on page 63. (I can't find them on the Net and won't scan them for risk of infringing Copyrights) Also these pictures which are also on deviantart EDIT: nice finds pumpkin! |

Well, I was an Art Major in college, but my artwork pales in comparison to the AMAZING artists we have up here. I don't want to embarrass myself by putting my crummy little artwork next to these incredible pieces.

Finally! Ascalon is gonna have a "peaceful" them instead of that "orange/war/boring" theme
slowerpoke
im sure those images will make pretty loading screens

(I say "was heading" because the Chronomancer is believed to have been a new Profession for the cancelled Utopia. I have not seen anything official even hinting at a skillset, however).

However, if you want to drum up some GW2 speculation, I would say that this is a class concept for GW2, seeing as how it was only put up last week and is labeled as Thief Queen. Strangely the attire on it matches a mesmer more than a thief class.
HawkofStorms
Could just as easily be an NPC though Shoyon.

I can't speak for Martin or Linsey, but I'm afraid my drawing days are far behind me.

Well art is art is art! Any stickman sketch to share with us?

Anyway I am betting my money that GW2 will come out on the year of the Dragon.

screenshots dont say much aswell, if they would show some now, some could complain about the graphics that they arent good enough, while they improve the graphics over time. graphics is like that last thing you want to be done. screenshots could also look very amazing, while ingame its more like ''uhh.....''. just wanted to point that out :>

The lava set.
Make it into GW2 FoW counterpart.

Ah too bad, but it's never too late. Steal an Intuos4 from one member of the artteam and you'll see your fingers fly!

I do have some of my old (OLD I SAY) artwork up on DevianART, but again: I am out of practice + I didn't study art at university at all (no formal training) These days, I just take pictures (and not all of them are good, either).

Yeah... prepare yourself to get spam watched, Regina. =P

Blizzard new MMO is probably gonna come faster...

So, we finally get concept art. Looks pretty badass. Hopefully we'll be seeing screenshots in the near future, but I won't get my hopes up.

So the picture that Regina posted with the futuristic city in the background, the technology aspect makes me think of the Hub of Time from the canceled GW Utopia:
So maybe the Hub of Time (perhaps supporting various content in the past and future) was moved to the GW2 project, and the original picture on this thread is an instance in the far future you can visit via the hub.

I don't know whether they have any Intuos4 tablets in particular (those just came out, right?), but whatever model they use, they are best used by those who have the skills.

Very cool Skype on PSP, I was actually considering buying one for that yesterday! <3 <3 <3 Japan pics! (cross fingers, I'll travel there next year)
Ooops, off-topic! But it was nice from you Regina, Martin and Linsey to put your head through the door of this thread into the community .
On-topic: on page 52 of the ImagineFX #44 magazine, there's an intringuing pic of a futuristic city from Matthew Barrett. I'm not sure it's for GW, but if it is, it's quite nice.

I don't get all the hysteria people develop when they think about upcoming releases of other companies. As if the fate of GW rested on people NOT buying other games. In reality, the fate of GW relies on people BUYING GW2.
No game is meant to be your companion for the rest of your life. Any people having that teenage "best friends forever" attitude towards one game, one console, or one anything should better drop that.
Why would GW2 struggle with competition? How about the competition struggling with GW2? When was the last time you really thought of Final Fantasy as the reference in RPG gameplay? 1997, before Bioware got big? Do you really think people will flock to the new Blizzard game by default? Competition will attack from many fronts. The competition to have gameplay appealing enough to motivate players long enough to make money off them subscribing or "microtransacting". The competition in pricing and availability (payment methods!). The competition to appeal to enough people in a gaming climate where the age difference between young gamers and old gamers is getting bigger and bigger. And the biggest hurdle for MMO companies: the competition to be able to be as immersive as either more cinematic (Kojima, 1P-RPGs) or more gimmicky (Guitars, Wiimates and breakneck Skateboards) games. The amount of boredom games can demand from the player is getting smaller and smaller. One just does not put up with things anymore that were "normal" a few years back.

Regardless of anything else, I really hope this delivers. Guild Wars is the only MMORPG that I really enjoyed, even though I'm not that great at it. If The Old Republic delivers, I'll be splitting my time with that and GWII.
