So... Just to jump back in here, the only recent artwork that is confirmed as GW2 concept art is the one that has been labeled GW2 concept art, and that's the "Snow Battle" picture from the Into the Pixel website (http://www.intothepixel.com/artwork/...st_winners.asp), where one of our artists was a 2009 winner for that competition.

I can't help but notice you said "the only artwork that is confirmed as GW2 concept art" and not "the only artwork that is GW2 concept art".

Nah, I enjoyed the prequels. I think most people didn't because they knew what was typically going to happen, especially episode 3 (this is mainly for the non-hardcore fans), while others who didn't like it felt it didn't owe up to the explosions and drama/suspence of the original three (there was no grand revelation like Vadar being Luke's father).

The main issue with the prequels is that they break one cardinal rule of prequels: thou shalt not spoiler plot twist of the sequels.

Knowing the big plot twist of Empire before Luke knows it, utterly destroys the movie we love so much. When Luke's uncle says in Hope that Anakin Skywalker was killed by Vader, then that is what we should believe at the end of Episode 3. Because it was essentially a "story rehash" line you need when starting in the middle of something. Ok, if you bought the first X-Wing game then you know the Farlander File, which has an article on Vader which essentially summarizes Episodes 1-3. Still, 1-3 break 4-6, so it's still best to watch the movies in the order they were made and that is what I hate about them most. Apart from that, they are good movies, maybe a bit too much on the childish and naive side of things.
There isn't really a way you can show Anakin fighting himself as another being... There really wasn't a way to do the first three episodes without "ruining" the later three. Either had to ruin all suspence in the storyline, or have 4-6 first and 1-3 later and ruin the "credibility" of 1-3.

The story is known, episodes 1-3 acted similar to the Bonus Mission Pack, it expanded on a known story. Giving details like who Luke's mother was exactly, how Anakin when to the dark side, etc.

But this is all off-topic

It must mean that we did find something that is for GW2. But she can't tell.

Warning, even more Offtopic:

That is not a problem at all. Let's say Palpatine has a Sith student, preferably another one of Obi Wans failed apprentices (To save continuity on the New Hope battle quotes!). Owen Skywalker said, this student killed Anakin. So write this student into the third movie, have Anakin go rouge on Obi Wan, have Anakin fight Palpatine's Sith underling in a Bad vs. Bad battle the way Palpatine wanted the fight at the end of Episode 6 to turn out, kill Anakin and unnamed Sith in an explosion, have Palpatine resurrect Anakin as Vader but make the viewer believe Palpatine revived his original student. Done. Episode 5 reveal is alive and well.

But those wicked Farlander Files again. They were confirmed canon and they said Vader challenged his master Obi Wan Kenobi to the death and lost. Lucas should have scrapped that.

I don't mind a little sci-fi in GW, but a high-tech shipyard with a city in background doesn't quite square with me.

^ to be honest it just looks like Kanineng (Balh -_-) City....i dont see much 'technology' there.. just some cranes.....which we saw before...metal structures..seen before....what i think is that its just wooden building that are covered with protective metal coating.. some beams seem to be imperfect as if it was tree trunks in the deeper part of the art.... Ship yard.. i dont know doesnt look like it..definetly dont se any ships.. just some pipes....and Pipes are ancient they had broze, clay iron, stone pipes in ancient africa greece,Rome,Russia....so coupled wiht magic it doesnt seem to be so far-fetched..no need to worry my friend it all will be OK =)

Here's a bigger picture:

To me, this is an industrialized construction site, sorry. (your right, I inferred shipyard).

You can see a modern city in background (looks like Houston to me, minus smog )

There's a metal dome with glass and what looks like metal tubes with holes in foreground... not wooden buildings with metal on top.

I mean, just the scope and the design looks very sci-fi. Even if there is a magical explanation of all of it, it looks very futuristic.

Now, it's only concept art (and maybe even not for GW2!), so I'm not worried, but we should call a spade a spade.

Yes i stand corrected.. no woodem beams there for sure in the bigger picture..thats metal tubing..probably brass or sopper according to the color or maybe orange steel....

Regardles yes the city might be an Easter egg? inArt though.. maybe trbute to home town or Dev Company town?

Yes indeed looks rather futuristic if you piece it all together......i seriously doubts its an Art for GW2...but it was confirmed to be still rather freaky..but i am hoping we are both wrong on it being implemented =)

I realize that concept art does not equal actual pieces of the game. I bet the concept art team did a wide swath of Asuran cities ranging from FF7 dirty magitek to clean, science filled star trek. That there is a skyline with 2009-like skyscrapers does not mean that it shall be thus in GW2.

However, I would like to know whether Construction Site was actually GW2 concept art, officially as Regina seemed to state in that linked post.

We have futuristic golems in GW. I mean, in the world of video games, I'm sure sci-fi makes perfect sense, even if the setting itself is fantasy theme.

Here's the description of the "Construction Site" piece:

Quote:

and the one for "Snow Battle"

Both are from the Into the Pixel 2009 Contest Winners page. I have bolded the most relevant parts of that text that I pulled from the linked page.

In one of the earlier posts I made on this thread, I incorrectly grouped "Construction Site" with "Snow Battle", however I edited the post and corrected my error, clarifying and pointing out the above reference to the fact that "Construction Site" was from "Guild Wars."

I see PAX is going to be held in September this year. Long wait before possibly, finally, seeing something GW2. They always attend PAX but will it actually deliver something meaningful.

Yeah, same here, though probably "aflutter" in a different manner

Noticed it said for GW, but Regina then said GW2. So confusion ahoy!

As for PAX, I got a feeling with Snow Battle, that the "big splash" will be there.

Makes me want to go even more. :x

They said more info will be coming "later this year". However, if they don't unveil anything at PAX, which is in ArenaNet's own backyard, is there any interesting tradeshow left in the year?

So, my bets are on hearing something at PAX. Although they probably don't want to overshadow Aion at this point. From Aion's recently updated beta schedule, it looks like it will go live at the beginning of September.

Regina and I are having a lot of high level discussions at the moment about community - so I would not rule out that we might do more crazy videos/ podcasts in the future. But like I said, we are still discussing things

Oh, and you are right, there is not much activity on our facebook presence at the moment - but I have a feeling that might change in the future

I've read a few rumors about Aion in September. To be honest, I'm not holding my breath for PAX, and I'd completely understand ANET team if they keep out of the way because of Aion.

Hmmm, with the Aion thing in september... unless it is released before PAX, Anet may indeed push back a little bit. Hope not, but it would be reasonable and only the little 12 year olds would be truly upset without understanding.

And there is a Facebook group? I may have found a reason to actually log onto that more than once a year!
