UW R/RT or RT/R solo build
Abedeus
I think that you lack Shadowsong.
It's an invaluable spirit. It blinds your enemies, making one out of two or three enemies harmless. Aatxes hit very hard and kill your spirits fast without Blind, even with Armor of Unfeeling.
Summon Spirits < Spirit Leech. You have to spread attributes thinner, but it's great when dealing with aatxes. That's basically turning 15 damage into 15 armor-ignoring damage + 15 heal every time a spirit hits.
I'll try going next time with only 5+1 spawning, 8 restoration, 10 in communing and the rest Channeling. This will make enemies die faster from Painful Bond, SoS and Bloodsong. Sure, they will have lower health bonus (20% instead of 40%), but that's bearable. If OP with a Ranger and no bonus managed to clear a lot of UW, then Spawning isn't that needed.

I'll try one of my variant builds and post results when I arrive home later.
It should be interesting to see. I think Black powder Mine would be more effective than shadowsong as you could spread out multiple instances and then summon spirits - effectively making +20 seconds blind possible.
The only reason i added in 10 spawning was for the the extra health gain - not sure this would make any difference.
I wonder if adding points into Rt/N - using Weaken Armor would be a better idea if not running Spirit Leech Aura.

If anyone is interested I am successfully soloing this first dragon festival quest that is the haiju lagoon and probably others will be possible as they rotate every few hours. The build seems to work in normal mode as a ranger with decent drops.
EDIT: Yep completed the haiju lagoon timed quest.

Thanks a ton spun I'm having a total blast with my ranger now, having been unimpressed with most PVX 'great' builds like Barrage, BHA, Touch, and a few others I worked hard at getting the skills for.
This is a solid and simple build: an excellent "general" farming build at least in my limited exposure (perhaps not on par with many HM area-specific builds, but outshines many ranger builds). I've made a few changes I think works really well, and I admit I'm fairly new to GW so hoping there's a few more 'refine' guys willing to share their ideas.
Here's what I have right now, and it's designed to be a bit speedier and safer. I suppose there's plenty of situations it is not speedy or safe, but I'll throw it out there for you guys to try and get back with me.
It's pretty much the same as Spun Ducky, here it is with a few more specifics:
10 Expertise
6 Communing
10 Restoration
12 Channeling
Bloodsong
Vampirism
Signet of Spirits
Armor of Unfeeling
Spiritleech Aura
Painful Bond (spirits do 18 more to mob + near)
Spirit Siphon (Leech 10ish energy from any near spirit, recast in 3 seconds)
Spirit Light (140 health heal near a spirit, recast in 4 seconds.)
I don't even have a good weapon yet, I'm using a +energy scepter and focus. The rest of my armor has +energy, a health, and the hat has 3 EXP rune (I'm likely going to swap out a + energy with a +3 Channel). So with this build I really have TOO much energy, I don't think I even need the energy leech (spirit siphon) but I'm using it for now (may swap it for Throw Dirt or "You are all Weaklings" if I find it's not necessary for most fights). Spirit Siphon works best by simply moving around your spirits like you would anyway. It takes the energy from the closest spirit and gives you a percentage (with this build, it's about 10 energy every shot). Every spirit has 31 energy it does NOT use, so it's harmless to the spirits and hooks you up nicely -- especially since each spirit is fodder.
I decided to drop Pain and Blind spirit because they both died or expired very quickly (and the extra energy cost), and I wanted to use the points in commune for channel. The signet recharge is VERY fast (20 seconds). With each of these guys plus the vamp and blood hitting for an extra 18 each (and + from channel), it's a worthy tradeoff.
Keep the ideas flowing for this build! I think this just might be the ticket for rangers (in groups it's plain SICK!)
Here's a spot I've been "farming" with great happiness - the spiders and flowers just outside of Sunspear Greathall on HM. Talk about fast and easy! I know it's noob, but I don't know good spots to farm -- and this one just happens to be a cinch.
I hope others will chime in "quick and easy" spots to farm for this build through this thread. I only have Nightfall open for HM, I'm working on factions campaign atm (just finished the quest for the signet guy which is why I started Factoins in the first place!).

Great build SD. You can also feather farm with this. Either in NM Jaya Bluffs, or even North Kryta Province HM with care.
Super Igor
cool build dawg, will run it on mah rit tell you the results

i still wanna know if Signet of Ghostly Might would be better
Plinks
The Ghostly Might would not be better than the Signet of Spirits for a couple of reasons -- at least in this build (Wall-o-Spirits!).
Ghostly might won't have much affect on vamp and bloodsong, and having 3 spirits every 20 seconds (if they die off) is way more important than having a couple attack faster.
I am, however, going to play some Polymock tonight and see about the Ice Imp. I'm not sure I like it's 1 min recharge, I'm pretty happy with my altered build atm but would like to have some more skills to toy with.

Er, isn't this just the -/Rt Norn Tourney Spirit Spammer?
Have been using it for UW for what seems like ages - although usually take a Hero Rit for HM and equip with Wanderlust & Earthbind to plink Aatxes
:/

well vamp and bloodsong would attack faster and they would also deal whatever +dmg the sig would give

If you go Rt primary, isn't it wise to take epidemic as the 8th skill? Could help spread the blind condition on the melee mobs (aatxes, grasping etc...) from Shadowsong, maybe even tight groups of casters.

Well Shadowsong has a short life and slow cool down so having a 'backup' is useful.

used this build (OP) to solo farm 30 avicara scalps in one run for old nicholas in mineral springs...kudos for the killer build..again!

Is there an easy way to kill the smites without spiritleech aura. I can't get the skill cause I don't have EOTN. I tried without the skill and it is too difficult. So yea if anyone has any ideas that would be awesome thanks.

I'm afraid there's no.

I know I mentioned this in my prior post, but I thought it should get a revisit...
Where have you guys successfully farmed with this build? I heard that if you keep farming the same exact mobs, the drops lessen (is this true?). So I've tried farming an entire area instead.
My 'main' farming area is Hard Mode right outside of Sunspear great hall. I do a little circuit starting with the plants/spider right outside, and go south killing beserks and more spiders, then west and north along the river killing bladed termites and skales, to the patch of plants then work over to the storm boss and finish at the bug boss.
Total simple run, always pull a whole bag of loot filled with purps, golds, tomes, and even the occasional dye (just got black today). I've now got a bank filled with the absolute best wraps/heads/shafts/inscriptions/etc. I know it's likely not on par with crazy 2 minute hard mode raptors or whatnot, but it's fine for me in my limited GW farming experience.
What other areas are solid farming for our newly energized Ranger/Rits? I don't know most of the common farming areas, I don't even have factions unlocked for HM I've only done nightfall. But I'd love to see some other input on great farming areas, because there's definitely alot of areas NOT good for this build.

Did UW duo with a friend
1 Me/Rt with this build ( Painful Bond was replaced by Flesh of my Flesh)
1 Rt/X with: Wanderlust/Earthbind/EVAS/Spirit Rift/Painful Bond/Siphon Spirit/~Optional~/Flesh Of My Flesh
Did good, died some times but with support you can be rezzed, Wanderdlust+Earthbind is great when dealing Aatxes/Graspings/Smites etc. The Support rit triggers behemots traps with EVAS and deals dmg with Spirit Rift

Hey , ty for the build. works great Hm Minister Cho Estate , complete the misison solo in 15 min and 40 sec. Drops some good golds , lockpicks. etc . Change Lich Aura or Armor of Unfeeling for Summon Spirits.

The build works just awesome. Thank you for sharing the concept with the community.
I solo farmed for the avicara scalps Nic wants this week in Talus Chute with my rit using a very similar spiritspamming build. Managed to collect the 15 scalps within 20 minutes.

A question about spirit leech aura in uw.
Can it replaced?

Hi. Long time reader, first time poster. I LOVE this build, both on rit and ranger. Its pretty much adaptable to all caster classes and my friends have been having a blast as spirit spamming derv's . Have had great success in UW with it, and my guild is working on a sprit/traps build for a complete team clear. Have gotten chamber, wastes, chaos plains, and a taste of the Spawning pools, but totally doable, the smites being the most difficult mobs so farm ( but its just a case recasting spirits and keeping Spritleech Aura up as much as possible) and can farm a few bosses as well ( Craw Stonereap for one). To spunducky, thank you so much for posting one of the most fun builds I've ever farmed with. Farming becomes fun again when you're not invunerable : )
