If you weren't' following anybody (which you wouldn't do) then you wouldn't see their tweets and wouldn't be able to report, and woudl probably be abusing the feature. /facepalm BTW thought this was supposed to just be a suggestion forum, not a prediction form as well... like they will really incorporate the majority of what is posted here anyways, so bringing in that realism makes no sense, you might as well /unsign everything then.

This. Just because other things have it doesn't mean there's no good reason for this to not have it. That's just playing off stereotypes of those other things (which has been complained about several times). Congrats if you're not personally a stereotypical Twitter user, but most would use it in the ways people have already described.

I really see no point to adding this as it doesn't really add anything to the game. About the only thing I can think of is that it would maybe somehow be used to exploit certain PvP situations... I'm not saying it absolutely would, but that's about the only potentially useful purpose I can think of at the moment.

Oh, and This isn't helping your argument at all so you can probably stop mentioning it. If it takes little effort to implement it would still be an extremely low priority since it adds nothing relevant to gameplay, and if it takes a lot of work... well that should be self explanatory.

The point of Twittering would be having people to follow, yet the consensus here is that there would be nothing that would come out of this that would be worth following (thus making it pointless). Nobody has yet given anything that would be worth following, and until something is provided saying "nuh-uh" is not a valid counter argument.

So discussing what would happen if this was integrated ceases to be discussion and instead is predicting? Then what, pray tell, is the proper type of dialogue that should take place?

My entire (joking) point was indeed that everyone should abuse the report system, so we could get rid of people like that from GW.

Let me get this straight. Me being realistic is unfair and.. unrealistic? To my understanding, this forum is to speculate about features that would be nice and useful to have. Examples are mass-identification, skill suggestions, festival suggestions or whatever.

I mean, it'd be fun for MSN or FireFox to be seamlessly integrated with GW. It's just completely useless. Admittedly I don't see the point of twitter from the getgo since most of the people actually using it are twits anyway, but there's not a reason AT ALL to integrate it. It adds nothing, yet it still subtracts things.

What I mean is I usually see people agree for extravagant or long features (*cough*auction house still*cough) even outside of Guild Wars but never factor in developer time since thy like the feature enough. But when somebody disagrees with something they always have to add in that it won't happen so /unsigned as if it wasn't "do you think this should be added?" but rather "do you think it will happen?" maybe I just cant' explain this lol.

The people are twits? lol since I equate is as a status message thing, I think it would be useful to see others current twitter message that way you could see what somebody was doing in game or even not, doesn't really hurt anything. Also might be nice to tell people outside of game that you are doing ________ and maybe somebody will meet you there.

I never considered this, nor do I know many people who tweet who think that way. They just like writing what they're doing/thinking at the moment. If nobody reads, oh well. If other people find them interesting, then they they get a follower.

I think it would be an awesome alternative to a guild forum. People would be able to interact with announcements, upcoming events, and builds in game and off. It remains private (if desired) and can even bring guilds better together that are under one alliance.

It's 2009 if your computer can't handle minimizing guild wars, and opening a browser you seriously need to consider upgrading. Also, we have a pretty good idea of how long it takes anet to want to add something even if we don't know how long it actually takes.

Xfire includes AIM now and a web browser in game. There's also a program called Digsby that can put all of your social networks/messengers in one program.

If twitter is really the answer to your guilds success you should revamp your guild a little bit.

To be honest, I really think this is a waste of time and resources. There's other options out there and the majority of us that do use twitter, do just fine with alt-tabbing or using steam/xfire. Join a guild wars twitter group, or make one for you guild and have people check it through out the day when they're not busy on GW or something. Integrating it into the game opens up other questions like: "Why don't we add facebook/myspace/guru" into the game too.

Not everyone can or is lucky enough to always upgrade right away.

Never said that one needed Twitter to be a successful guild. I did suggest that it would help some that would use it.

My 5 year old laptop with 512 RAM and a 1.2GHz processor can successfully play Guild Wars, minimize it and open firefox. If you have less specs than that your computer is ancient, and it's safe to say its probably time to upgrade.

Myspace, Facebook and Twitter are all social networks that allow you to update a status and tell the world what you're doing. Myspace and Facebook include random other applications where as Twitter is just simple updates. :P

I still fail to understand why you can't minimize guild wars, check twitter, go back to guild wars. Make the group on twitter, I'm pretty sure the majority of people aren't going to spam refresh the update page to know whats going on in the guild, they have guild chat to ask. Twitter might help, but it's not worthy of an integration into the game.

I couldn't live without the steam overlay. I sure am glad that Anet integrated that. Hold on, this just in, apparently VALVe was the one to make the steam overlay and Anet had nothing to do with it.

If you want a twitter overlay, get twitter to make it, not Anet

EDIT: Actually, just get the steam overlay, it has a build in web browser. Direct that browser to www.twitter.com

I would never use this feature and would have no desire to do so. If someone wanted to talk to me,text me send me a tweet, they can just pick up the damn phone and call me. I say people who use these kinds of feature are this generation of NERDS!!!

Communicating and sharing information is apart of the game.

At one time, gaming was considered for kids and nerds.

Discussing a game =/= updating a microblog with what you're doing every 15 seconds in a game.

I'm quite sure if you have anybody you know from reality following you on twitter, they wouldn't give two shits what you're doing in a game.
