In game Twitter integration.

I completely agree that Guild Wars isn't any of those, but it is a game that would benefit from Twitter integration.

More seriously, I'm not sure it'd be worth of the time of very busy Live Team devs to integrate the twitter API in the GW UI.

An awful lot of GW users blog by means other than Twitter's micro blogging... I suppose we should integrate blog friendly tools so I can edit my blog, screen cap and edit images, then upload them to my gaming blog without having to ever minimize GW?

YouTube is popular, Guild Wars videos on YouTube... from "Look at what stupid shit I did in the game" to "And this is how you farm" videos... clearly GW needs a decent video capture and editing tool, with tight YouTube integration you could even upload you videos without alt tabbing to a web browser.

Twitter, MSN, Yahoo, ICQ, AIM... yep, all of them should be integrated, and if I can check my email too, that would be just awesome.

Also, Guild wars needs a clock, if I can't manage minimizing the game to post a tweet, I certainly can't minimize it to check the system clock... and it could be a dual time clock (your local time / PST ArenaNet time) so idiots could finally stop arguing over when a festival or ingame event is due to start. Add a timer and alarm function...

A calculator for the power traders? You know it's needed.

Wiki, in game... not via external links that launch the web browser (what we have now) or by using Xfire to browse wiki ingame... but built right into the GW interface... this is far and away a more significant thing that could be added to GW, before you consider implementing 'social networking' into the GAME.

The list of stupid, and for MOST of the community, utterly useless things you could 'implement in GW' is vast and mostly 'more needed' than Twitter integration.

And, I'd rather they worked on fixing what is broken with the game, before they start spending time adding irrelevant 'fluff' to it. But they don't have the time/resources... they never do.

Edit... My God... my RED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GOing God... I'm so used to using external programs for it I didn't even think to mention it in the above post... VOICE COMMUNICATIONS... you know, that thing that EVERY serious PvP guild requires, and even some PvE groups insist on. Vent or TS is what we mostly use, but it is something that it is all but REQUIRED to play the full scope of this game, and that isn't integrated yet...

This is not the point of Sardelac. People make suggestions and give their opinions on them, based on how useful or not they think these suggestions would be.

Anet then may decide to pick it up if it answers one of their problems. (although I'm unsure if Sardelac is still relevant now that the official wiki is beginning to sort out its licensing issues and devs have their own suggestions pages about certain topics)

Thankyou for noting all the other things I suggested, many of which are far more needed or useful to the player base than Twitter integration. For the thinking impaired, I don't want any of that other crap added... they were listed for the simple sake of showing the stupidity of the idea... where do you stop implementing IRRELEVANT features that the OVERWHELMING MAJORITY of the users will never touch?

And before Inde or any one else chimes in with the oh, so not clever "But if you don't use it, why would it bother you to have it implemented in the game" question again... let me answer it thusly.

There is an almost unlimited number of features that could be added to the game, most of them would be irrelevant to the majority of the user base of the game, targeting only a small number of the game's users for each such feature... and yet each such feature would increase the bloat of the game, the resources required to play the game, and most importantly, the VERY RED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GOING LIMITED time and money that the devs have available to improve and maintain the game.

Some ideas are so insipid and useless, or at best, of very limited use to such a small number of users that it would seem inconceivable as a serious suggestion, perhaps a case of WoW envy? Alt Tab... use it.

How does it improve the game again? It saves less than 1% of the player base from having to alt tab to do something that is largely irrelevant to playing the game? Yeah, awesome... we need this, stat!

In game voice comms? Yeah, RED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GO we don't need that... In game wiki and update notes? Useless... flavor of the month social networking? RED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GOing awesome!

Yeah, I completely agree Guild Wars would benefit from Twitter integration. It would also benefit from AIM integration, Yahoo IM integration, WLM Integration, web browser integration, an MP3 player integration, calculator integration, a clock, Myspace integration, Youtube integration, GWGuru integration, video capture integration, voice chat integration, E-mail integration for AOL, Hotmail, Google, and all of the thousands of other e-mail sources out there, integration of the Official Wiki, integration of the Unofficial Wiki, integration of GW Guru Auctions, park benches for your characters to sleep on in the major cities, the other god realms, a /sleep command so your characters can look like they're asleep, an /eat command so you can make it look like your characters are eating, the ability to completely customize your armor with happy faces and the like, the ability to upload your own guild cape symbols, new Luxon and Kurzick armors for Dervishes and Paragons, mounts...

Anything that could possibly be added to the game would benefit it. The question is, how much would any suggestion benefit Guild Wars?

I can't disagree with that. I can honestly say I've never used Twitter, Myspace, or any other popular social networking site, so I didn't know. I thought there would be licensing fees and stuff.

If someone wants to talk about Guild Wars, they are probably doing so already. The entire issue of this suggestion is to make it easier, not possible, just simply easier to post on Twitter while in Guild Wars. That implies to me that these people are already talking about it to anyone that is interested. Shaving 20 seconds off of that process isn't going to matter because they are already talking about it. Anyone that wants to talk about Guild Wars, and thus give free advertising, probably is already doing so.

And man hours cost something, unless Arenanet is staffed by very generous hobos.

I would much rather that the Live team uses their extremely limited resources for additions that would improve everyone's gameplay experience.

You guys seems to be missing a key point here, Regina has all ready stated they are looking at Web 2.0/social media stuff for Guild Wars 2. So despite all your sarcasm Nerel, if I had to pick something from this genre I'd rather see twitter then all those other options. Maybe we should all be looking at a "what would be the least annoying" and then speak out now so that we we WON'T have all that extra stuff.

I think it's a good thing when used as a tool rather than a waylay....as some of you seem to suggest.

Nice video, I guess it sums up nicely what Twitter and similar social networking tools are really for... empty, vapid nobodies who need to find self affirmation by blogging the most mundane and worthless moments of their existence, in 140 character blocks...

As for Regina (Hi, I'm from Xfire) announcing Web 2.0/Social media will be more tightly integrated into GW2... are we meant to be suprised? Suprised if Anet actually delivers on the promise, sure... much like all the hyped features of GW1 that never materialized unless you are willing to redefine the buzzwords into the most mundane translations possible. GW is a dynamic world that changes based on your characters actions and quests... ie, you've done the quest, the bridge is down now... yay DYNAMIC WORLD!

I'm guessing they might, might, actually have the official wiki integrated into the game client. Voice communications? Possibly, who knows. Twitter/Yahoo/MSN/ICQ/AIM/Email/Flavor of the month Social Networking? Hopefully not.

Lets not forget IRC built into GW, it does have a far larger user base than most other forms of communication software.

No, it's not a good idea because it won't be used by the majority of the game's user base, it adds nothing to the game play, it's a waste of the devs time compared to more useful features like in game voice communications/wiki integration/what have you... if you need to find self affirmation while playing GW, get some impressive title, expensive equipment/armor/minipets and stand around in some newbie outpost letting people tell you how awesome you are... or whatever.

Type Guild Wars into search.twitter.com, yeah, that adds to the game, really it does.

Hope they integrate something similar into GW2 but please rename it.

When I am talking with friends, saying I spent last evening twittering makes me feel like a prat.

How many people who are on the fence about buying GW will think... "hey this thing has Twitter. I was on the fence on this game, but now I'm going to buy it."

That will happen... like, maybe a dozen times. No way a.net should spend so much time and energy for a hundred bucks worth of sales. It wouldn't even cover the cost of development.

Unlike other MMOs that have twitter integration, GW has no motivation to add such a feature to please existing fans (since we won't stick around because of said feature and pay a monthly fee). Features must be designed to attract new players. That's why A.net focuses on things related to combat and gameplay (zquests, skill balances) rather then things that would be convient for current players but not advertisable (in game voice chat, twitter, etc).
