Are we even going to get an update ANet?
Winterclaw
@op: why worry about it, even if Anet has an update it'll probably be all wrong so be happy with the way things are now before they get worse. And the only reason XHT is gone is because people were complaining about it.
If you complain to about something, like XHT or a lack of skill updates they remove it.

I think people are missing my point completely.
This is NOT about whether or not I get my stupid keys (whopdedo I get 1!)
This IS about how a company reacts to a service that they have offered no longer working as expected etc. This is about how a company deals with the customers it offered said service to and how they treat those customers. This is about how the customers feel about that treatment.
Let me give you a not so good example (but one nontheless):
you get into a car accident and your car is out of action....your insurance company says you must deal with 'xyz fitit' auto repair. ok your car gets there, but the mechanics refuse (for whatever reasons) to tell you anything for a very long time...only 'we are working on it'. how would you feel (and yes its a real example--my car got totalled back in college took the dumb repair people almost 2 months to fix it and then I also got charged for parts my car never had in the first place!!-eg no fog lights to repair)....would you EVER use that company again? Would you tell everyone you know about how horrible your were treated by that company? (uhm...never agian and the auto repair that did my car is no longer in business!)
We just ask that we be treated as paying customers for a service that we were offered. (and yes as part of buying the game this was a new service that was offered). We wish to be treated with respect, given updates--even if there is nothing to update other than we dont have any idea.
In the coming months people may look back on this issue and see how well it was handled, was it handled quickly? were the customers informed of when (if) a fix was happening? Were any alternatives offered for said service? People will then get an idea of said company---ah they werent too quick to fix that issue, maybe this is how they do business, should I take mine elsewhere? If they are unable to fix this will they be able to fix other issues that may arise in the future? Was I happy with how the company made me feel as one of their customers?
Its a business and we are its customers, I dont get my rats behind about the zkeys, I care about how they are handling the situation....

^That was well written Cosyfiep. That's exactly how I'm feeling about Anet right now. I could care less about some stupid tournament house, but what I do care about is how they go about handling these problems/issues; whether they were done in a well organized, professional manner. And clearly, as we have seen all too often lately, the way they handle things are anything but professional.
funway ftw
pretty much the point i was making cosy and martins generic answer was ordinary to the extreme. An update as simple as "we have found the coding issues and the people in the coding department are well into fixing this situation" is the kind of response we are looking for because the ones we are getting fed at the moment may as well say " we dont give a damn about any of you we havnt even opened the XTH file since it happened, and were secretly hoping you would all forget about it". Because thats the way we are being treated whether you agree with the XTH it "was" in the game, it isnt now. Whether you dont like the fact some people got lots of accounts and were using them to gain passive money is irrelevant ( I guarantee you anet wont refund the extra money they raised from the extra accounts) . If you didnt buy any extra copies thats your choice but dont criticise anyone else that bought them in good faith for doing so. If you play the game to farm UW enjoy it but dont criticise others that like to have the luxuries without the grind thats they're choice (its better than buying gold from gold farmers who actually ruined the economy in the first place). how you play the game isnt the issue.
How would the community respond if uw and fow bugged out and they removed it? the response would be omg!! when will it be fixed? There would be uproar. "I farm uw to get my income" (yes i can get it elsewhere with more gind but I dont want to) there is absolutely no difference. Like the XTH or not it was part of the game and people just want answers that something is being done "we are working on it " simply isnt good enough.
all you UWSC people ask yourself how long would you hang around in gws if after a month and a 1/2 you were getting the response "we are working on it" which is the same response you received when it was removed. You cant play the game how you want to so as i said dont criticise those that have had they're gaming experience altered and they "dont like it"
And telling people who are annoyed about it to "stop QQ'ing" and to "quit gws" and "I hope it never comes back" is simply trolling or being inconsiderate. just take a step back for a minute and think of what you enjoy about gws and imagine they removed it. And when you ask for anwers every troller on the net spamms "stop QQing" think how constructive those comments would be for your plight before you right another generic "uninstall" post.
this is about answers to a question not a debate as to whether it should be re-instated . Of course it should be it "was" here and we just want to know when it will be returned.

I'd rather they just removed it and nerfed Broken Form.

I would like to kept up to date on the progress.
The Public Relations response isn't on par with what I've come to expect from Anet. The PR here used to be very good, but now it's comparable to just about any other developer I could name.
With XTH down, I'm missing a part of the game I really enjoyed. As a dedicated PvE player, I had no idea what was happening on the PvP side of things. When the XTH came along, it provided a vehicle to other aspects of the game I wouldn't have gotten involved with otherwise.
Sure, it took a carrot (TRPs) but it did get my attention. Without it working, I just don't have the motivation to pay attention to what's happening on the other side of the game anymore.
With the vast majority of Guild War's customers not interested in PvP, the XTH brought us in. I still don't PvP, but when the XTH was up I kept up with the scene. I made myself aware of what was happening in that obscure (for me) part of the game. Sure, this was motivated by increasing my performance in the XTH....but there's nothing wrong with that.
This should be a priority. If it's beyond the capibilities of Anet to fix in a timely fashion (due to resources or difficulty in implementation), rollback the old system. Sure, it had it's issues, but not nearly the failure rate of the XTH 2.0.

I'm taking a break from the game until next update.
I hope they change Shadow Form's functionality to stop sucking when you can't maintain it all the time and stop being ridiculously excessive when you maintain it all the time.
A new area (whatever it is, even if it is just a new PvP map or a copy of an already existing map like dungeons) and some changes in PvP would be nice too.

I think it's perfectly acceptable for people who actually work for their gold, even if it is through something like the UWSC, to criticize people who got super rich because they paid $100 to buy multiple accounts so they could get 1000K from selling their unearned zkeys.
Is it that different from buying gold from a gold farmer? I don't think so.

I'm just wondering, if XTH isn't high on the priority list for GW1, what IS high on the priority list? Does anyone actually know what is being worked on for GW1?
I'm sure Anet will redeem themselves somehow with something unexpected, but I can't imagine what it could be from looking at the current player issues.

You pay for the game but pay absolutely nothing for any of the updates you recieve. You don't pay for a subscription and anything else that's added to this game after your intitial purchase is done clearly off Anets own back. Therefore you don't really have any right to claim "well I paid for this service" because you are not paying for any service. XTH is not a service, and shouldn't even be considered as such (and if you really want to consider it as one it's most definitely a "free" service). When you start paying to use it then maybe you have grounds to complain.
Some of you people should be thankful they even add anything because they are most certainly not obliged to. I'm assuming you understood this when you first installed the game.
Oh and lastly a developer posted in this thread about it, go figure.
Crying about it isn't going to fix the problem any quicker.

I see so many of these posts in every post about the issue. Lets destroy your arguement and every other one of the hundreds that get posted here. These games that were supposedly purchased after the XTH was introduced actually had the XTH as "part" of the game that was purchased. And now it is gone, So yes technically it was "part" of the game and not an update yes it was an update of the original game that was purchased but in new games its called "content". But again that is not the issue raised here its about lack of communication. People without multiple accounts dont argue and dont care if its reintroduced because they dont want people having an advantage of getting more in game money from making a purchase. Unfortunately for you all anet "does" want those people making those purchases because it keeps the money rolling in which pays the devs wages and therefore the "updates" people so desperately crave. People with multiple accounts who have contributed to the anet dev "pot" are very much annoyed it has disapeared and have had no news as to what has even happened (apart of course for "we're working on it" ). There was no agreement made by either party that the XTH would stay in the game It was "part" of the game and therefore people "assumed" in good faith it would remain a part of the game. There hasnt been any feature of the game removed since i started playing. Changed yes never removed until now. So anet has got they're benefit (extra money from account sales) from theyre part of the deal yet the people that purchased the extra accounts now feel cheated and rightly so. but that arguement has been done to death. This post is about communication everyone has theyre own perspective on the XTH end of the day it was here, should be here and isnt! People just want answers.
|
Just because it is down and being fixed does not mean it is gone forever. That's just a load of rubbish that's nothing more than Chinese whispers.
I mean didn't a developer already post here telling you they are still fixing the issue? That debunks the whole lack of communication argument right there.

We posted a couple of times that we will let you know when we have more information about this topic. Unfortunately, we don't have that, so the statement "We are working on it, we will let you know when we know more" still stands.
We understand that this is an issue that you are interested in and that you want an update, but I cannot see how reiterating the above statement on a daily basis will do anything to remedy the situation. I know that this is not the answer you all were waiting for - unfortunately it is the only one I can give at this moment in time. |

ANet should just keep breaking and fixing their own stuff over and over so that they have a safe excuse for not doing anything new.

The universal rules to happiness:
1. Something to do - thanks for the zquests, titles, HoM, etc.
2. Someone to love - I guess we all work on this ourselves
3. Something to hope for? FAIL! When is GW2 coming out? Don't know. When would XTH be fixed? Don't know. When would we have a content update in GW1? Don't know.
So dont blame us for bitching about it.

There was an old interesting thread entitled "Some info on Community Relations" that was around about 2 years ago that had a huge amount of useful information in it.
Here is my exact post in that thread that summed up this entire argument:

then my response to Gaile Gray when she addressed the issue later in the thread:
http://www.guildwarsguru.com/forum/s...&postcount=138
Others such as Ensign, Blame the Monks, and JR made much more detailed and alid points than I even did in that thread, but sadly some/most of it was removed per Dev Request.
I honestly hope that someone from ArenaNet actually reads this thread and will care to dig up the old thread, because a lot of the complaints in that thread, which is 2 years old, are still relevant...

The fact that there is no ETA demonstrates the lack of business processes, customer prioritisation and customer relations ANET has, ummm none......
The last several months have shown this and it becomes increasingly difficult to keep players interested or to even care about this game anymore. Sadly this just reinforces that things are going to be like this when GW2 does come out and to be honest most people are fed up of being treated in this way.
Martin does come here to say 'we have no update/info', folks are not asking for that, they are asking for an ETA so that people can calm guild members and idiots in GoTB, but it 'really' does give the impresssion that ANET do not care.
ANET, your not winning your customers over, your not going to convince them that in this way they should come to GW2 when it does come out due to lack of 'reasonable' community information. Telling folks that we are short of resources and will have to find someone to work on it does not inspire confidence when this has been an issue for several weeks now. It is your game and you have decided that this is the way to deal with issues and community manangement, just dont expect everyone to be there at the end wherever that might take you.

This was written by Regina today regarding content updates.
How hard is it for people to understand that they will give you details about updates, fixes, when they have solid details, not half arsed estimates, to give you?
Quote:
That was from a developer update written by the development team. We have not forgotten about it. The team has been having discussions about future content updates, and of course those discussions are taking place while keeping that message in mind, but balancing that against what resources we have. You know that Linsey worked for months with no weekends, often working 80 or more hours per week and staying overnight at the office to get that update out the door. This is not a pace that Linsey can sustain forever. Because of the success of the update, we've been able to get resources to hire another designer. This will help Linsey so much with the workload. This hiring process has taken a while, but this is pretty normal when it comes to hiring. The team has high standards, and they've been looking for the most qualified and best candidates. Linsey is keenly aware of that messaging, and she knows that you want information. We just need to make sure that all our ducks are in a row before we discuss details in public. |

Also, Regina posted this in response to a player asking her about this, not because Anet decide to ''Hey, let's keep our playerbase informed by handing out some information every now and then". Small detail, but it emphasizes the nature of communication.
But maybe I'm expecting too much from Anet at the moment.
