Aba
Necro..........then ranger
Dina Kessian
Mesmer pity I made her on a borrowed account and when I got my own copy the friend whose account I borrowed took the account back and deleted my character, only just got round to remaking her and playing around with IW.

Hmm.
My first-made character was a ranger, but I deleted her around Yak's Bend. So I don't really consider her my first character. My answer would have to be my monk - first to hit level 20, first to be spoilt, first to - okay, she's my main.
1. I was trying to play interrupt ranger, but I had incredibly bad lag.
2. Thirty minutes into the game I got so fed up with Alesia I rerolled a monk, and then I never wanted to go back.

My first profession was mesmer. I created her when I first started playing Guild Wars on Nov 20th, 2005. >_< I miss my mesmer SOOOO much. She had every set of armor in game even FoW. (Was the first character to ever get FoW actually...) But my bf had her deleted last year on May 21st, 2008. UGH... I did remake her but she now sits there on my account as a lvl 1 as a storage character. I'll finish her one day... :/ If I ever get the motivation anymore to do it... Kinda sucks. She would be 44 months if I still had her now. Either way... I play monk more.
Necromas
Necromancer!
I was an N/Mo and I remember people would be so surprised when I'd play midliner and use curses to mitigate damage and soul reaping to fuel some monk spells, back when people often didn't even know what a midliner was and monks would be surprised that their jobs suddenly got easier.

I made a necromancer first, and its still my main. (my warrior is my main in pvp now though)
I then made a warrior (played it for a while and then got rid of it to make room), ritualist, dervish, recreated the proph warrior I made earlier in Night fall with the same name, then a mesmer.

Vel
Ele.
However, my warrior ended up becoming my most played character. But, I love playing my ele though.

My first character was an Elementalist/Necromancer who is still my main.
Beat all campaigns and do mostly everything with him.
He nukes, but I've been experimenting with Air builds and Fire builds that focus on one person or one person + adjacent or nearby foes.
For PvP I started a Mesmer the other day. I really like him during AB or FA/JQ.

mine is an ele.
-Makai-
My friends told me not to start out as a Mesmer, but I wanted the challenge. Keep in mind this was pre-CoP. Ah, for thinking that MMM(Mesmer Minion Master) was a good idea. Now the poor guy just collects digital dust...armor clipping issues and whatnot.
nkuvu
Warrior/Ranger. I thought I'd be able to easily swap between bow and sword in mid-fight.
Second character was Necromancer, third was Elementalist.

Dawn Angelheart
Necro, was my 1st.
FalconDance
Ranger. She's still around <---.
Operative 14
Elementalist was my first, at the suggestion of a friend and also just because I like the idea of throwing fireballs and magical attacks around. Twas my namesake and my main character and complete all the campaigns and the extras.
Then I started my Dervish, and since then he's sort of taken on a farming role.

Sakura Az
Ranger, was deleted about 2 weeks later
my main now is a sin, and the current ranger i keep is for selling things in kamadan

Shadowhaze
Ranger. Still my main char too.
Ribos the Mesmer
Mesmer, and as the name implies, that's still my most-played character. Got my fourth birthday gift a couple months back, and it made me realize how long I've been going at this.
Basically, I made the choice based on looking at the skills online, and realized that dealing damage indirectly and stealing energy seemed a lot more fun than casting yet another fireball. Of course, that was back when Energy drain could take 20+ energy off a single person... And the alternate strategy was to go Me/E and airspike people with fast casting. Funny they never mentioned the aftercast delay online back then... I was disappointed with how long it took to "reload" between spells. But now, every time I try to roll an Ele, I'm disappointed at how long it takes to cast everything. Call me spoiled. :P

I did a poll on this back in Dec '06 with surprising (at that time) results. Let's see if trends have changed.
Dec '06 Results (1107 responders): Warrior, Ranger, Ele, Necro, Mesmer, Monk, Assassin, Ritualist, Dervish, Paragon Surprise was the low result for Monks and the high one for Mesmers. http://www.guildwarsguru.com/forum/s...ght=Profession Now it seems you can't do a poll with the list of professions, so we will have to do this the hard way. Warrior for me |
I bet POPULARITY wise, monks are up there. But most people when first starting don't want to play a healer. They want to kill stuff (not realizing a Monk is good at that too).
Jenn
Elementalist. I played her for a solid 26 months and got her GWAMM. Haven't played her much since then. If I play, I enjoy my monk the most, but play ritualist, ranger, or paragon where needed.
Achrr The Archer
Warrior was my first. He just sits around in another set of FoW armor only to see the light of day for the odd zaishen quest.
Earth
Ranger for me.
own age myname
Ranger was my first, but I deleted him on the first day of playing.
I made my warrior after that, which is now my main.

Buster
Mine was a fire elementalist then the necro in me took over forever.
Pocketmancer
I started with an Elementalist and still play it now and then today. Today, I just swap across all of the professions whenever I feel like playing as something different.
Deimos Zargarda
Ranger, I gave him a Fiery Dragon Sword und used it til I reached Thunderhead Keep, then I switched to Fire Storm.
Thought that professions only decide the looks of your character.

The 8th
Ranger..he's still here..has been since the beginning, although I did reroll him when Nightfall came out so I can make him look more like a pirate.
Pistachio
Warrior, and I've still got more hours on him than any other character. Also my only character to have completed all three campaigns and EoTN.
FengShuiDove
Elementalist. I've got nostalgia for him, but I realized some of the flaws of playing Ele early on in my GW career. I wasn't good enough to run a good Ele, and a decent one got boring.
Assassin is now my main... so versatile. Monk is second favorite, for the same reason.

I started with a resto rit - an odd way to learn the game, but it meant that I never had to be without a healer for my first run through Factions.
She's not my main anymore... I don't really have a main, just characters that I play and characters I rarely play - e.g. my Canthan ele, who only sees the light of day if AB is at the Beach or the Keys, the monk, who's now just the smiting half of our 600/smite, or the rit, who lives for those rare days when I want to RA. I guess the closest thing I have to a main is my Tyrian ele, Jenna, though I love Gui the best; Jenna's the only one remotely close to finishing all the games.
I like all the professions pretty well; of my 10 characters I have all the professions except war and sin, both of whose roles Jenna can fill. I just play whichever I feel like playing.

First ever created on a friend's account was a mesmer. I'd read the manual and liked the sounds of the class - I thought they would play like a D&D psionicist. I died really quickly really frequently because I didn't have a clue what I was doing, mouse/camera controls were almost exact opposite to NWN. He gpt deleted fairly quickly.
Made several more, then finally stuck with a necro on my own account til the Maguuma Jungle, by which point I'd got bored and frustrated with her.
Had rolled another mes in the meantime, and he was much more fun to play. He was the first character I finished the game with, and became my main.

Started with an ele, because I planned to be an ele/mesmer to be a mesmer with better energy management skills. I abandoned that idea at level 16, deleted the ele, and started over with a real mesmer.
Started up a warrior a few months later, but didn't switch over to that as a main for at least another 1.5 years or so.

Regina Buenaobra
Necromancer.
Schmerdro
As I voted in the other thread, my first character was a Ranger. My main is now the Paragon, with the Necromancer as my second most played character.
