I bet POPULARITY wise, monks are up there. But most people when first starting don't want to play a healer. They want to kill stuff (not realizing a Monk is good at that too). |
Which Profession Was Your First Character?

I remember when I first started-- the good ol' days. I created a Canthan mesmer. xD

Sin was my first...still my main too =P
Martin Alvito
Ranger. Ended up deleting him to make a monk very early in the 55 craze.
OP: People didn't realize just how critical monks were back then, and the initial distribution of players in Diablo (Warrior, Rogue, Sorcerer) was similar to the GW distribution.

Chicken of the Seas
My first was a ranger back in beta, as well as around prophecies but eventually my mesmer became my main.
ManiGio565
My first was a mesmer in proph. Found it pretty hard to start off with but managed to get the hang ofit. My mes is my main character too^^.
Daesu
My first was my necro. I like necros even though at that time, they were not popular, wammos and ele nukers were the trend then and soul reaping was laughed at for being a useless attribute line (also no SR skills then).
Only made a monk to earn extra gold from desperate PUGs, due to the absence of the heroes and Alesia sucks even more than now. The 55 build was not even invented yet at that time.

Ryssul Sylverhart
My first character ever was a Ranger. Rangers were my firsties twice, but I oftentimes gave up and deleted them before I got really far with them (e.g., out of Post-Searing Ascalon). When I actually started to try and play through the game for realz, I made a Warrior and she became my main.
draxynnic
Monk, but back then elementalists didn't exist, and mesmers only had 3 or so skills and could only be taken as a secondary profession. First character post-release was a Mesmer, who is still my main (although I do have a character of each profession.)
Are you still together?

My first profession was mesmer. I created her when I first started playing Guild Wars on Nov 20th, 2005. >_< I miss my mesmer SOOOO much. She had every set of armor in game even FoW. (Was the first character to ever get FoW actually...) But my bf had her deleted last year on May 21st, 2008. UGH...

Arachnephobia
Elementalist was my first, and is my main character. I love the profession.
The second was a necromancer.

pumpkin pie
my necromancer has very nice name (according to me) Whats is yours that made you not play it anymore?
GWfan#1
Ranger was my first back when proph came out. still my main char and still my fav class
shoyon456
First was ele. It's still up there as a favorite class of mine, but the Dervish is THE favorite now.
And just to clarify, I don't enjoy playing as ele with all the new playstyles and elites for them. I like the oldschool echo MS nuker type thing.

M @ T
Necro here but War ended up as main
Gennadios
My first was a warr. Completed every campaign with him, and decided to make a Paragon because I read they were the easiest to get Legendary Survivor on (high armor support = low priority.)
Burned through 8 paras trying to get the title, finally pulled it off, and never looked back. Have also been spending a great deal of time on my Rit lately though. Now that the paragon has just about everything maxed there's not much incentive to bring him out for the day to day guild activities.

Thowra Wildfire
Necromancer.
Was neglected for a long time while I played my second character, Mesmer and third, Elementalist.
Went back to my necro after my mesmer "discovered" (and used, was necro secondary) the elite Spiteful Spirit (was early Prophecies days, just fell in love with that spell)
Have one of each profession now, but those 3 are still going strong after 4 years - my Necro is my main (original and best )

Mesmer in my very early days of Prophecy. Thought that was my end-all toon. Then moved to Ranger in Factions. Fell in love with it until ... Nightfall brought out the Dervish in me. Lately I've been tinkering with a Ritualist. When I want to play aggressively, I'll load up the Dervish. If I wanna backline, then I'll sit back and spiritspam with the Ritualist.
Garreth MacLeod
Ranger, same as the last poll. Decided after a couple weeks I wanted to use the name I use in other gaming, sooo deleted him and made a new ranger. Although I enjoy playing the other professions as well.
drunknzelda
Elementalist, and until level 8 my favorite skill was Conjure Phantasm cause it raped any low lvl mob ^^
Melkorium
Mesmer, I have a weakness for dapper.
Fluffiliscious
My first was a warrior. I still have her even though I never finished Prophecies with her. I picked a warrior as my first because I thought she would be the easiest to start off a new game with to learn all of the mechanics. My main is the ele that I created shortly after my warrior. I've taken her through every campaign and am now working on my vanq titles with her.
Malla13
My first girl was a Ranger who spent a neglected year in Pre before I finally deleted her.
My second was a Necromancer, and I still play her every single day.

Saborath Gilgalad
First was my Ranger and it is the only one I still play today in pve.
My only other lvl 20 pve char is my necro which I made for soley farming.

Calvar Draveir
I'm not too good at spreading my time between my chars, so I basically had only played my ele (my first char) by the time I got him through prophs and eotn's respective stories. Then, in a routine PvP char deletion, I accidentally clicked on him, and out of habit typed in his name. 5 seconds went by before I realized what I'd done. And I learned from that day on to keep my platinums in my Xunlai. (64 plats, AND 1 elite armor set, gone in an instant.) I made another ele after a day of moping, and It turned out to be good for me, since because I had made some pretty stupid choices when going through prophs for the first time (E/W, not finishing all the skill quests, flare spamming, buying bad armor sets that I didn't need) and I think it made me better as a player. Now that ele has 4 elite armor sets, has beaten prophs, NF, and eotn, and is halfway through factions. I named him after my first, who was Calvar The Brave(dead) -> Calvar The First(alive)
Hyper.nl
My first char was Hyper Nl (Elementalist)
It is still my main char and favourite char.

i did First War. deleted shortly after. made ranger. deleted. then made ele and started playing it.. still got that ele :F
Dagoth Umbra
First: Warrior (Dagoth Umbra, same as my forum name
Second: Elementalist
Third: Monk
Kept a slot open for a PvP character the entire time
Fourth: Assassin (I think, considering I made my Rit the same day I think and definitely the same month)
Fifth: Ritualist
Sixth: Necromancer
Seventh: Ranger (I think, as both my Ranger and Mesmer were created in the same month, but I am pretty sure, since I knew that a Ranger was more useful than a Mesmer in PvE)
Eighth: Mesmer
Ninth: Paragon (again, I think as I created my Dervish the same day or at least month)
Tenth: Dervish
My favorites, at least in the order that I have loved them, which pretty much depended on how easy they were to get through the game are:
Warrior (first learned to farm with a warrior I think, and the warrior has been one of the first to go through campaigns and get skills, but not so anymore), Monk (Monk always having a group was wonderful, and I am a good monk), Necromancer, Dervish (being the best Drok's runner and for the Aura of the Lich PvE build I used to run, so sad they changed Aura of the Lich *ggrr*), Ritualist (I stopped playing for 2 years while in college and started playing again recently, and when I came back and learned that the PvE Ritualist is TEH AWESOME!!!), and now Assassin (only for running and potentially soloing, I have not found a regular build that has made me happy, but I will continue trying)
*Edit: Oh and I have already made an AWESOME Paragon build, but I am working on my Assassin at the moment, but when I work on my Paragon, I think I am going to be VERY happy

W/Mo
I used to play other cRPGs before GW and the concept of W/Mo worked well for a supporting role in the team. Not in GW though. I played Wammo for few weeks but it didn't work very well so I dropped it and created a monk. Which has been my main since then
I still have the War (with rare pink 15k Kurzick ) but I don't play it very often

First: Female Necromancer
Second: Female Necromancer (remade the first)
Third: Male Assassin
Fourth: Female Necromancer (remade second)
Fifth: Male Assassin (remade the first)
Sixth: Male Necromancer (had a D2 mindset of not being able to change attributes and whatnot :x)
Seventh: Male Dervish (I lasted a whole year on two profession? Huh.)
Eighth: Male Warrior
After that, who knows. Ranger, warrior, mesmer, elementalist, paragon, ritualist, necromancer - made several of them, deleted several as well.

What a weird question.
Any intelligent person would go for the best choice: The profession that KILLS STUFF WITH FIRE!!!

My first prof back in beta was a warrior, I wasnt too impressed with it. I then tried a monk in pvp (lol) And then settled on an Ele which became my first prof to play the campaign through.
kostolomac
Mesmer. And nother mesmer after that because I hated the name.
