why are YOU still playing?

I'm still having fun. I take breaks from GW but I always come back, right now we're doing all the dungeons in HM, me and my wife, just for the challenge and the fun we have in playing GW. We like doing the Zaishen as well, it gives you a reason to revisit old missions with new skills or new insights.
Had the game now for over 4 years and its still not stale and thats the first game ever I've had, and I've played a LOT of games, that has accomplished that.

I still love playing missions, quests, z bounties/missions, getting armors, titles maxed, playing with IG/IRL friends, meeting new people, my alliance.. Also something to keep my mind occupied.
Kamara
Game is still fun. There's still things I haven't done. I like playing with my friends whether it's rofflestomping an area we know like the back of our hands, or introducing newbie guildies to the game / areas they haven't been to.
AlsPals
I forgot that Factions, Nightfall, and EOTN came out.

Pop on occaisionally to help out a friend. But GW is now abandonware, sick of the woeful updates and lack of real content - by design. There is way too big a gap between the last chapter and GW2 to carry the player base, this is a big RED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GO up that will cost them dearly.

PvP is still better than anything else I've tried in games of the genre.
Also, there isn't really any particularly good strategy games for proper multiplayer from recent times to make me transition more than some dozens of hours.

Still a well put together product that entertains.
I have also taken a break for a month or so here and there, but still enjoy igf's and look forward to those that I have not met yet.
Also, new people are still trying the game so I will travel to Ascalon etc. to help out with stuff here and there.
You can still make gold from farming and other missions/vanq that also rewards with gold and XP. Con'sets help alot as well with adding some entertainment value.

I still play mainly because I'm trying to get my ranger to GWAMM and I'm not done collecting all the armor sets for all my characters just yet. Other than that, I enjoy playing with my guild and people I've met through GW. They keep me very entertained when I'm at home bored out of my mind.
R_Frost
ive been playing 4 years now. havent been playing as much the last year or so as i did the first 2 years. i havent really picked a main to chase the titles with. my Ranger is currently in the lead being closest to finishing alot of titles. with the account wide HoM update i stopped focusing on working toward a GWAMM til more info is released on what the titles will do for us in GW2. i really have 4 or 5 mains i focus on, cant stand playing only one character as it gets boring more so then it is seeing theres been no content updates. currently im almost done with my main goal, finishing tyria, cantha and elona with each profession. down to my last 13 missions spread across 4 characters. once done ill probably take a slight break like i did last year at this time where i was playing only once or twice a week over about a 3 month period. thought about picking up Aion but not interested in playing a game with a monthly fee.

In gaming terms i'm an oldie. In my modest 24 years of playing videogames, there's a few games that can be considered absolute gems. GW is the only one of the games i've played to keep me interested well over 3 years running. The design is amazing, complexity and simplicity intertwined elegantly.
What keeps me playing still? Friends, missions, so many challenges left unconquered. The lore has great depth, really enjoyed uncovering all the little nuances in the game world and there are so many things left to do. Armour and weapon design is inspiring and the art and architecture are of the highest quality. The looks have aged well.
And of course so many ways to approach the challenges, it never gets boring. Roll on GW2

GvG is still the funnest gaming experience for me.

I have been playing for 3 years and I still enjoy the game. I have 9 characters, 7 PvE and 2 PvP and their all at different stages of the game so for me it never (at least not yet) gets boring. My lead character has done most everything and I like to use him to change up builds and hero/hentchmen teams to see what works and what doesnt in HM and I enjoy helping out others with quests or missions and giving them tips on how to play. Plus, GW is a FREE game, and in the words of the late Tom Peterson, a home furnishings business owner from Portland Oregon, 'Free is a very good price.'
Looking forward to GW2 release.

Because it's free and an awesome game still and pay to play MMOs get as worn out as GW too so which one do you think I chose? But it's not ALL about the fact that it's free..I just like the game, that's my reason.
king swift
For the XTH...which is now down so idrk why i am playing
Introverted Dimensions
Constantly taking breaks from this game.
I'm back again. There's really nothing else for me to play because I don't want to pay monthly for games or because I just don't have the interest.

I'm still playing because GW is so casual...you can pop on, talk to friends, pop off...oor pop on, play a bit, and go afk for however long you want.
That and I have like a million kurz faction to get for max title :P.

It's enjoyable to me.
I like my friends, I like playing the game, I like a feeling of accomplishment after beating a mish.
Also, maybe it's just I'm a Demeter-archetype, but I can't abandon my babies. They are so much a part of me now, more so than any others of my characters except possibly Rhiannon (my Dunmer in Oblivion, which I played obsessively for a year or two). Each of the 10 is a little chunk of my personality; leaving the game without closure for them'd be like leaving bits and pieces of myself behind.
Also, I don't play constantly. If I start to burn out, I'll stop for a while - go play WoW, or now I'm in the middle of a nostalgia break replaying Might and Magic VIII. But I always come back.

Because I feel obligated to grind so I won't be behind in GW2, mixed with some probably misplaced hope that the game will regain the spark it once had. If it wasn't free to play, I'd be long gone.
Elle Bishop
I feel the same way <.< but I hope there we be much cooler rewards than the ones offered from hom in gw2, I have so few PvE statues, and only a few PvP ones, oh well.

....uhm....hubby got me hooked on the game.
I am unemployed....so it gives me something to do until there are jobs again where I live (unless someone wants to pay me to play or sleep).

enjoyable way.
And indeed. The hope that they bring us some of the things we want.
As a other content update, And yes a addon which I have to pay for would
make me happy to. And more.
dunky_g
because i am a student and dont have the money to waste on aion, cos i waste it on booze!

I used to be an hardcore pve player, but after having collected some title i began being bored of it. Now i'm waiting for some friend to begin playing, to do some pvp with. Meanwhile, i do some mission with my new mesmer.

farming to hopefully get the grind titles maxed (and because I just enjoy it)
done all the rest and cant be bothered again with it, so farming with my guildies is the only fun that keeps me playing gw (and for the record, never did or witnessed any Speedclearing - there is more fun in farming to be found if you make your own build for area's).
not to sell stuff to people, I only sell to ingame npc's (I hate wasting time selling stuff)

That all being said, I preordered Aion and it's sitting at the game shop for me, but I haven't picked it up yet. I kinda wish I didn't get it and I don't see how it could be better than GW.

If Aion gets boring, or I don't think it's worth the fee, or if everyone bails after the first few months like they did with WAR etc, I'll be back playing GW again. Until then, I'm v pleased my characters will just sit there waiting for me without my having to do anything to maintain them. Still looking forward to GW2 though!
stuntharley
Getting pvp titles/pve titles, and its free. Just for GW2.

I had the same feeling the weekend between preselection and headstart - had already bought the game but was semi-regretting it because I knew I'd have to choose between that and GW, wouldn't have time for both, and I've played and enjoyed GW so much over the last few years. Since Sunday, though, I've not stepped foot in GW, cos I've been having way too much fun in Aion to worry about it.

Considering many MMO's have launched since GW and how many are still thriving, I think thats probably a better measure of the quality of GW than anything else.
AngeliqueSynner
Mostly because I have nothing better to do.
Little bit because I have friends in-game though.

Take LDoA from pre-searing to HoM before GW2, check bday presents for fun.
I never finished grinding titles, and now that I'm playing Aion, I probably never will.

I keep playing PvP I am close to getting my title and the people I play with are, well IG friends and it makes the game enjoyable, almost to the extent where I am playing the game to socialize with them, rather than to enjoy the game if that makes sense.
I also am looking forward to sealed deck, I think it has the potential to be an extremely rewarding format.
Its free, and at the times of night I play I cant do much else, its either go to bed early or play for a couple hours.
But mostly I play for the IG friends

i play cause its free to play. my friends still play.the daily zmissies when they are fun/easy to do. for the events and until i find a nice job where i live. and when i reach my goals in game.

Grinding my third gwamm.

Having finished the game its more like keeping in touch with old friends and monitoring the state of the game than actually playing it. Also keeping my account somewhat up to date so if I become really active I'm not very far behind or obsolete.
