HB/TA Removal Set for This Week!

And then look at Gaile's 2 comments (both made before Regina's). Even though they're from a support perspective, it still seems like she cares. I miss that.

In all honesty, I think Regina cares too, but I think she's afraid of the bullies and wicked/sarcastic personalities on these boards. But she should know that what doesn't kill you, only makes you stronger. How do you think Gaile got the experience? (btw that's another rhetorical question )

Thank freaking god. While I don't mind my countless stacks of ectos hitting 6k per ecto, I DID mind my countless stacks of ZKeys being shoved down to 3.5k per ZKey. -_-

Don't get so excited over SD just yet, folks. HB and TA being removed doesn't mean SD will be added the same time.
Still, I'm glad to see that this is finally happening. What, then, are they planning to do with the masses and masses of people that abused the format? Little to nothing, I would assume, but there's no telling what ANet could choose to do, it seems.

I see a lot of people happy for the removal of TA/HB. What you don't see is the whining and bitching that follows. At least not yet. I expect to see many good for nothing individuals cry about Sealed Deck and how broken it is or how poorly implemented it is etc... The list of complaints will be immense and full of dumb arguments. It just hasn't happened yet.

I've been a playing Guild Wars now for 4 years now. I've never felt the need to have my voice heard until now on Guru.
First I would like to say is taking the GW's community sealed deck battles and making it an official arena is very cool.
With that said...
I'm very disappointed in the Anet's solution to this situation of red resign.
Of all the talk of read about Red Resign, no one as mentioned that it's the community that is causing the problem. When I hero battle trying to max out my title, which will never be done now.
I have never resigned once, I refuse to participate just because one loser decided to tell another that you're red so you have to quit.
I've had people actually tell me they are going to report me if I don't resign.
The GW community needs to stand up and not let this continue but, hey who am I to get in the way of the exploiters free Z-keys.
To me the solution is just implement the dishonor system in all arenas, it stopped the massive resigns in the others.
As for hero battles being broken. Yes when you flag heroes or they don't use the right skill when you want automatically it can be frustrating some times because A.I. code will never be perfect.
But, isn't that part of any video game to work within the structure/engine,
to react, to adapt and have the knowledge to be successful.
Hero battles would be way more fun if they just deleted the capture point system and made it an all out brawl.
Team Arenas problems stems from not from it being to hard, and only a few nich players dominating. Yes it can be frustrating to come up against the same team over and over again just to lose.
As a result fewer and fewer players participate in TA and eventually the population to support TA is gone.
The real problem with Team Arenas is people don't like to lose and quit to easily. If you meet up with a Team that is winning match after match.
Why would you not adapt your team build to counter acted the situation.
I have no solution to Team Arenas maybe it should be deleted or maybe just introduce the sealed deck to TA and see how people react to having limited number of skills to choose from in a organized team format.
Isn't that one of the major problems in PvP today to many skills?
Yes you can nerf all the skills you want but, you nerf the dominate meta skill and another will just take it's place.
Alright I'm sure most people stopped reading this, so I'll just say one last thing. Deleting Arenas because some of the player base exploit something from it, just seems a very lazy thing to do.

I'd also like to point out, the decision to remove HB occurred BEFORE rr day became popular.... or even, possibly it "officially" existed. HB isn't being removed because of RR day. It is being removed because it is an utterly awful gameplay design that people have been complaining to try to get fixed/removed for YEARS.

And, to be honest, I think the reason so many people decided to exploit it the last few weeks was because it was being removed. It seemed like one of those, "Might as well do it now" things.

It seems to me that the removal of the two arenas, especially HB is mostly focused on the RR days. They haven't mentioned anything that they would add in the new arena in the same arena and it would not make sense if they decided to just delete them without adding the new arena right after. RR could have made an annoying impression on the devs and they might just want to take the chance to end it soon rather than wait for the new arena to be finished. RR was a huge haul after all.

Eh, no, they definitely said they were removing the thing way before RR day became nearly as popular as it has been recently, and with good reason. This is not a case of ANet giving up on an arena because "they don't know how to fix RR day", this is ANet scrapping two mostly dead and/or unfun arenas in the hopes of consolidating the community and implementing a new semi-casual replacement PvP arena that people might actually enjoy playing.

you can blame the community for RR but they only do it because they can, and get away with it. if it wasn't possible within the system then there would be no problem. people will chose the path of least resistance to victory and wealth.

HB is being removed because it's considered a crappy game formula by most. RR was simply another egg in a pudding with too many.

I would like to see Anet keep HB for 1 more RR day, but change it so both teams show up as red; obviously this can not work in the long term because of logistics and issues with the minimap, etc, but it would still be nice just to hear the cheaters moan and complain about something else before HB goes for good.

That sounds like a good plan... you know, since TA is obviously a well-balanced, highly played, and tactically rich arena. Plus, it'd pretty much just be AI fighting each other. This means you take unpopular and unfriendly elements, like player skill and team coordination, and make them virtual non-factors. Only question is, what are the downsides?

I'm sure ANet learned from the VoD abuse along with its removal and will continue to implement necessary changes to prevent the abuse of gameplay in any shape or form.

oh , This means no more playing HB on rr day just to play as red to annoy all those red resigners, ill miss destroying their sabways and discordways, just to laugh at them as they scream red resigns!! in local chat…. Oh well, on to the sealed deck (in about 4 months), should be fun.
