I had 7/7 reapers done, then rubber banded on two aatxes I had KD'd whilst on the way to King and was wiped by a patrol of graspings before I realised it... so frustrated. I won't put myself through all that again, let alone across multiple chars.
It's too much of the same to make it interesting. Not every player wants to be a runner. |

Just spam the 3rd skill for kd 10s mobs before running.
I did it like this at my first try..

New quest is pretty cool I guess, but it took me way too long because I didn't know the way.
Pretty easy imo. Pits were annoying.

So you were able to take and do today's quest without having finished yesterday's? I did yesterday's with all of mine, but if for some reason I get miffed and don't complete today's I'd like to know if I'll be able to do the next one(s). ??

The last Reaper is the one in Ice Wastes, so unless you don't know the way to the King from there, you should not have faced Aatxes and Graspings on the way there....

Ho hum.
Vulturion
Died 3 times to rubber-banding, then 3 times to those blasted Bone Pits.
Can reach the Reaper every time, but then cannot get every single one with a 4 on the way out - always the pair after the bridge who survive, and the 2-3 seconds it takes to sprint passed them lets them lay Hexes which take my bar from full to zero.
No darn worse way to go than sitting watching Hexes expire as my last 50 Health counts down, invariably fatally.
I really want to get this ticked off for tomorrow, but can't go 5 minutes without swearing at the screen so maybe it's best I give up on festivities before festive spirit all used up.
Update: THANK YOU, SUGAR SHOCK. I'm ready for whatever fresh horror awaits tomorrow.

"upier: The quest is part of a chain/series, so you will need to do the first one before you can do the second one."

would be nice if regina or wiki would say we have to do each one to get the next one. And if we do have to do todays to get the next one then anet failed big time.

She said it right on page 3.
Stolen Souls
Didn't like this one nearly as much as the first. Running to one point is fine, but running to 7, spread all accross the UW, is monotonous. The worst part is that, say you die on your way to the last one...you have to start ALL over again. I might finish this one on my main character, but won't do it on my others...for them, quest 1 was the end of the line.
Kurald Galain
I loved the second quest ... Pits is a bit tricky but easily doable if you time your skills right.

Seriously, this quest is not difficult, it takes some thought and some time.
And this is a quest *SERIES*, it wouldn't make sense if you could just skip the quests you "don't feel like doing" or "can't do".
Let's see... *plays some other game* "Oooh getting this key to this dungeon door is too difficult... maybe I can just skip it and pick the quest line up once I'm supposed to be inside..." See? Makes no sense.
Of course you can do this one! In my opinion these quests so far are designed brilliantly, can't wait for the next one!
In the meantime, I'm gonna do this one on all my available toons. ^_^
Thanks Anet!

^_^ So?
Just stated my opinion, and what makes sense to me. Whether people agree with me or not is their choice.

So this quest seems to be hit or miss, either you love it or you hate it. I'd be interested to find out if the people who hate it are UW veterans (and thus find this monotonous) and if those who love it are unfamiliar with the UW (and thus find this an easy way to explore).
I'm hoping that this marks a new direction for festival quests/games. Instead having us grind easy quests endlessly for a chance at a good reward, we have a super-challenging quest chain with (hopefully) good enough rewards that grinding it is unneccessary. It at least seems miles above farming grenches for candy canes or hunting down mini polar bears. I'm looking forward to how this plays out.

It feels like work to me. Not fun at all. Games are supposed to be for winding you down, not stressing you out.

Long boring runs aren't fun to me and the bonepits are just stupid imo.
Would it be too much to have a heal in one of those empty skill slots rather than getting to watch your hp drain out because the 2 necros just outside of your aggro bubble didn't turn green like everything else on the radar did?
This would be better if they would just let us keep normal skill bars and clear the damn place.
End of halloween quests for me as I'm not playing this to get stressed out but rather to have fun.
THIS ISN'T!

Wonder what's next? We have to escort souls or prepare for battle? So far, seems like the "something is lurking inside UW" means "we are using these quests to nerf UWSC", so might wanna stock up on ectos....

To all the people who says it's easy:
I completed this day's quest once and I agree with you with one exception; Bone Pits. If you find it entirely easy, incl. Pits please write a guide how to do Pits, there's many people struggling with Pits and Pits only ^^. I got lucky first time in Pits I think, after that it's been Fail Land for me.
To Anet:
Self-healing and/or hex removal skill would've been brilliant and would make this quest more doable specially to people who don't know the timings/spawns/patrols. The usual challenge aspect that community tends to bring up is not valid here in my opinion, it is Halloween quest, it is suppose to be fun, not challenging.

Phew just made it, good tip on doing bone pits first the rest is a breeze.

Did anyone else feel that today's quest was far too long and boring, especially when comparing the reward with yesterday's. Just completed it and rather than wanting to do it again, I actually felt I had to sign out of guild wars for a little while.
Here's hoping tomorrow's isn't so long and boring.

I think the main complaint is it's simply Nintendo Hard (Bone Pits).
Have the minions in the bone pits NOT have their hex bombs and it may work.

Long and painful, I really didn't enjoy it. The quest seemed excessive to say the least.

no rolling eyes because its stupid. and it is difficult. and i didnt say thing about picking and choosing which ones i wanted to do. thank you for putting words into my mouth. and i went back and reread what regina said. when i saw the second part of the post i assumed i could pick up the next quest if i couldnt do/missed the one before that, so that was my mistake. and so sorry if we arent all good at stuff like you minami. *sigh*

If not, then kind of harsh words to use if you're going to do the quest anyways...
I never said I'm good... I'm just a regular player who enjoys the new content, and finds it a challenge to get through it.
EDIT: No, I'm not familiar with the UW and its monsters/layout.
And I do agree, a hex removal or healing spell would have been helpful.

So, what I want to know is, when will these quests disappear? I'm assuming Monday at midnight when the Halloween event closes down, but it'd be nice to know.

Bonepit section of this puts the FU in FUn!!!
WTB heal on one of the empty skill slots.

^Considering the event ends on nov 2nd I'd say then.
lol pits was frustrating the first few times, but it was an epic 30 min quest. Probably would have been faster if I knew my way around uw but oh well.

On the first run I got hexed and died although I left the agro behind 10secs earlier. Second was much better and did it in 37mins, acceptable for person which goes to UW twice a year
I doubt I'll do it on all toons like yesterday

Apart from the Bone Pits area, it's not that bad. Just run a lot and avoid mobs as well as possible. Failed there on my first try, but got through the second time. A nice quest to show those who rarely visit the UW what it looks like, what the areas are and what foes are running around.
An easy way to make the quest easier would be to add "Mad King's Candy" or something similar, which removes 2 Hexes and Heals you for X HP per Hex. Though that might make it a bit too easy...

FREE ECTOS: Do the halloween quest, use the 3rd skill to KD an enemy and then wand him to death. Best farm ever.
Yawgmoth
Easy and extremelly long+boring after the first time. Died in bone pits the first time, my fault as I expected it to be as easy as everything else. But whole successful run takes exactly 20 minutes. Going to run 3rd char but wont do it with all 10 for sure.
Earth
Pits: I knocked the first few down, used the running skill obviously, used skill 4 at some point, crossed the bridge, stood outside of their agro (knocked 2 down because I accidentally agroed them), used skill 4 again, and ran to the reaper. More or less the same on the way back.
It sounds pretty vague, but do something like that and it should work. Got it on my first try.

Really? Are you kidding? If theres walls/no doors just keep going around until you find some. You can't blame the quest because people don't know their way around. Theres plenty of zones that are a pain to get through because they're all zig zaggy and whatever. Should we make all those at linear as possible for all the carebears who have a little trouble finding their way around? Like I said, big green arrow helps, just try and follow it.
No wai fer realz?
Its hard to rely on skill 4 alone in pits, more skill 3 usage is what got me through.

amusing reaction from some folks, anet punch you in the face and you ask for seconds.

After 3 tries I finally beat the mission. Even though there were some choice words shouted, in the end I liked the challenge. Lovin' the new lore as well! Hats off!
