New Halloween Quest Info

If you don't mind wasting some feathers, dust and a bit of gold an essence of celerity does work on the shouts giving you 100% immunity. (I would not recommend for every character but might be worth it for your first one if you want to learn the routes at your leisure)
moose528
agree with posts earlier can someone plz make a guide or video guide that would be very much appreciated
Tom Swift
hmmmm didn't try this but as long as you don't have too many enemies together I suppose this would work (they do take damage from weapons I think). But it would take a very very long time to kill everything with nothing but the raw dmg from your weapon.

Its not to difficult, time bone pits right, i just ran right through and was fine...Just use KD a lot and the friendly thing.
Make sure u wait out as many patrols to make it easier, kd everything you see in pits and you should be fine, took me 28 minutes to finish and i dont know my way around UW to well so...
It was rather lame and boring and im not gonna do it on many other chars if any, but do bone pits first to save time like others said, it should be fairly simple yet i dont know how to make videos on games so...i am not able to lol...sorry
Good Luck to all.

It sucked. But thanks to Guru and Wiki I was able to get it on my second try.
If we do only have four quests, then I hope this is one of them that lasts for two days. A lot of people having problems getting past everything.

God this quest is so annoying. I hope that the next few days quests won't involve even longer running. Like everyone else said, ANet clearly did not think about the Bone Pits area. I bet they didn't even bother trying it themselves.
Tom Swift
Since one of my chars is still being offered yesterday's quest, I presume you have all week to do it if you want to.
Andisa Kalorn
I managed to do it on my first try, but I don't think I've ever had less fun doing a holiday quest. I was constantly worried about lag, especially when I started lagging, to my horror, while passing the very last groups.
Got through bone pits, but once I reached the reaper, realized how annoying it was that I had to run all the way back too - at least with UW normally you can teleport between reapers. Having to run back just makes everything longer and repetitive.
And having to worry about degen... degen is the most annoying thing when you have nothing to counter it. They don't need to add an overpowered skill, there could be something to remove hexes but with a long recharge.
Or at least, have the quest save your progress. If you lag out after getting to all the reapers, it's a huge pain to have to do it all again. And that's just not fun.

I did it on my first try. The only UW I've ever done is wastes and chamber. Pits was a bitch, but I got past it with good timing and nice KDs.
Overall, I thought it was fun. I know the UW a lot better.

THIS IS STUPID EZ. I mean people with enough thinking can see just avoid melee using snare... shut down casters with KD and use spirit wide effect to cut down time on run. Pits were ez because just kd the thrashers before u come to them use pumpkin skill on bridge and thats it. QQ all around here

Todays quest really is pretty straightforward. After a try or two I don't see how anyone can get mad at it, it just takes a little common sense.
Of course, when you get error 7'd near the end, then I can understand the frustration...

I would love to do this quest but apparently ANet does not like me and decided to sick there duck-tape and gum patched servers on me today. Gotten lag booted/killed 3 times now...
HawkofStorms
It is pretty easy. The only part that is tricky that is actually possible to die is bone pit. Don't save that one for last just in case you fail.
It isn't hard, but it is kinda long. 20-30 miniutes for 25 ToT bags and 7 tonics isn't enough for me to repeat this on multiple characters since raptor farming and CB is faster, though it does give a rarer tonic. I've still done it on a few characters, just in case the next quests have good rewards.
Also, no drops from killing stuff in this UW (yes, I've tried).

Bone Pits got me on the first run (had met 3 other reapers by the time).
Did Bone Pits first on 2nd run... everything after was pretty much a cakewalk, but a rather long one.
Guess Ill skip this quest on my secondaries and get back to Costume Brawl. ^ ^

I done the quest first shot, but I can't say I enjoyed it much. Again, the backstory and the lore was great, I really can't wait to see how it turns out. But as someone not familar with the Underworld, I found navigating it a pain and had to use the map that someone kindly uploaded to Guild Wars Wiki.
Even then, the Dryders came *this* close to killing me right at the end, and if that had happened I probably wouldn't have bothered trying it again I'm not saying I don't like challenge and want everything to be easy, but losing so much progress because of one mistake or even worse, because of LAG, would have been crushing. I prefered the light hearted, relatively simpleness of the first holiday quest.

1st time: got labyrinth, died in labyrinth because of lag
2nd time: got wastes, plains, pits (very close to deaths after leaving pits), got pools(again very close to death at the first group of terrorwebs; wasn't ready for Immolate), back in plains(got hexed by some mesmers; degen until 11 hp)...survived. got mountains, then labyrinth and back in wastes for the end
Was fun. Like it! Very interesting to explore UW for the fisrt time.

Bleh was almost done, just had to talk to king frozenwind then apparently I rubber banded. One second I was running away fine the next I was dead.
Edit: Wtf died at exact same place by invisible monster...

GG Anet fix servers plz. 16 minutes in (using red rock candy), after all reapers, almost at the king, l/c at the last group of smites on the way up to the king. Pressing skill 4 like a madman, but to no avail. Dead at reconnect. If you're going to make a 20min solo quest in UW where by death you get kicked out, plz fix servers.
Maker of the fallen
same prob with lag, was heading to the last reaper and then bam rubber band rubber band pow into aataxe pow d/c lol yeah it sucked but w/e i'll just do it again
Rexion
Took me 2 tries to get it. I just wiki'd the reapers' positions and checked each as i went.
pits weren't fun at all.

a little bit of a suggestion for people experiencing rubber-banding doing this... From my days when I used to do smite runs in UW I learned that it's generally not a good idea to run through two bad guys that are somewhat close together. Whenever I rubber-banded in UW it was nearly always because I did that. Of course it can happen when you don't, but I typically force myself to run to the outside one way or the other if possible.

If you use a rock candy(s) or cupcake(s), etc. to boost your speed, it's much easier, but slower than the +50% boost. You can still use the skill to reach +50%, though, and you'll still be moving faster while it recharges.
Do the following to get through Bone Pits:
Just KD the patrols before they cast, run past knocking down as needed until you have the foes in range, and then turn them all to the Thorn side. Do the same to exit. If you have TexMod, the spirit radar mod is very useful.
The quest took me 31 minutes the second time because I died the first. I could have done it faster, probably in 20 minutes or so, if I used the running skill instead of just cruising with cupcakes and candy. The Bone Pits is challenging the first time, and the quest may be difficult for those who don't already know the way. I wouldn't repeat it without consumables to boost speed.
Do the following to get through Bone Pits:
Quote:
Pits: I knocked the first few down, used the running skill obviously, used skill 4 at some point, crossed the bridge, stood outside of their agro (knocked 2 down because I accidentally agroed them), used skill 4 again, and ran to the reaper. More or less the same on the way back.
It sounds pretty vague, but do something like that and it should work. Got it on my first try. |

I would agree lag is making this a bit harder then it should be
The Drunkard
Died the first time at the pits at the entrance after i activated the reaper...evil dream rider caught me with my health down
Did it again no problem- I use the 4th skill when under/over the bridge and have just enough time to get out of agro range for the mob.
I've been enjoying the halloween event so far...but I was a tad dissapointed today. When can I start killing Dhuum instead of running around?

The second quest was interesting with the Bone Pits section being a pain in the butt. Can't wait to see what the follow up has to offer now.
Neo Nugget
I thought it was a fun quest. It was nice to explore some areas of the UW that I haven't been to before. Pits was a little tough, but I beat it with little trouble on my second try. Keep it up Anet
I was afraid I was going to lag out a few times though. o.O

With a red rock candy you can do the quest in about 17 minutes.
Kazuo
Well, using cupcakes it wasn't very difficult though I almost died at Bone Pits. The quest was a bit too long but hey, at least i got to see the entire UW for the first time in 4 years
BlackSephir
Long and easy, the worst type of quest. How can people fail it is beyond me, 10s kd with sic recharge, 50% speed boost with 5s downtime and LOL YOU DONT ATTACK ME FOR 20s + super duper snare.
Sarevok Thordin
I have a funny feeling part of this quest was to try and get players not-familiar with UW to see what it is like inside without a 1k cost.
........this is not the best idea.

Ugh...I kept timing out and banding when doing yesterday's quest to the point that it was actually somewhat difficult if (more like when...) I got hit with a lag spike when approaching the ramp, where the two coldfire + a smite group converges.
Not sure about spending the time to this if it's going to be that bad for me again, not to mention I can't remember anything about the layout down there as it's been over 3.5 yrs since my last visit prior to yesterday.

Having found the first quest overly simple today's was a swift kick in the butt. I'm only slightly familiar with the UW and the areas I didn't know weren't too troubling, really. But Bone Pits...yikes. Made the mistake of taking them on 5th first and sat screaming at the degen the first time around.
A couple more bad starts happened but I finally got through it. Started to notice the lag the last time around...don't think I'll be trying it with any other characters until I hear about that getting fixed.

I've been really enjoying this quest chain so far. Running about in the Underworld while yelling at it's inhabitants is fun.
The second quest wasn't hard, in my opinion. My first completion took a little under 30 minutes and the second about 20.
One interesting trick I learned revolves around shout range being larger than your aggro range. You can use Sugar Shock on enemies outside your aggro bubble to knock them down without aggroing. In some cases, you can knock down an entire group before aggroing them.

Just like the linked event above, these quests are temporary. Wintersday quests are in Underworld as well. Dwayna's is in Bone Pits, and Grenth's is on the Chaos Plane.
Dzjudz
Got it down to 15min with a red rock candy now.

Well this one is kicking my butt... of course I am a newbie to underworld area (yeah 4 years and nearly GWAMM and still a newbie)...
Don't like it... but at least people aren't saying it was too short. If this is easy, I am afraid of what will make others say it is "Hard".

I've cleared the UW before but don't have it memorized.
Using the map on the wiki it took me 35 minutes to complete. Definitely harder than yesterday's 3 minute quest but can be beat using the same tactics and having some patience (waiting for patrols to pass, letting health regen if you get hit with a hex, etc).
I almost died at 6/7 reapers due to rubber-banding but managed to escape and finished. Too long (and only 1 mistake can force redoing it all) for me to bother with doing this on more than 1 or 2 characters.
Running around avoiding stuff was a neat idea for the first quest, but repetitive for the second one. Hope the next quest is more interesting.

Well we got phantasmal tonic as a reward for this quest, so my guess is we have to transform into a reaper for the next quest and help the reapers do/fight something.
