1. I must say,
I'm really quite pissed off at losing heroes in the guild hall. Many PvEers used the GH as a staging area -- get people together, hammer out team builds. Well, now we can't unless we have enough people for an all-player party since we can't tune the heroes in the GH.

a. I very much doubt that. Simply return the GH to its previous state and add a check before entering non-scrimmage GvG battles that disallows entry and returns an error like "You have heroes in your party, numbnut" if someone tries to enter with heroes.
As has been mentioned before: You've already got places where entry is disallowed if you don't have Dunkoro, or if you do have someone who's not ascended, etc. I can't imagine how it would be hard to disallow entry because you have heroes.
b. If, somehow, having no heroes in GvG and having heroes in guild halls are absolutely, positively mutually exclusive, then... revert this update and to hell with GvG! If this problem just isn't amenable to a code solution that makes everyone happy, then there's a direct conflict between what's good for PvP and what's good for PvE. Now, I
thought a-net had finally figured out which constituency was paying the bills... And I
thought we were finally done hacksawing PvE players' game experience to enhance the experience of a comparatively tiny number of PvPers...
2. Don't like the henchmen all over the GH. Really would like UI option to hide them.

This solution is optimal. Guild leader/officers can toggle GH type by talking to the guild lord. Solves
every PvE-PvP conflict about guild halls:
- PvEers get the heroes they want; PvPers don't get the heroes other PvPers don't want them to have.
- Everyone gets their respective split skills
- PvPers get the super-duper-original henchmen cluttering up the place; PvEers avoid the clutter.
