Is gonna take me a couple hours to put on this costume I think... XD
Especially with the facepaint, blending the colours takes quite a lot of time.

Blue: I would welcome comments and crits from you.

Minami: I'd be happy to offer some comments and crits but I would like to see you composite your figures first to see what direction the composition takes.

Thanks! Haha, keeps me wanting to work on the costume even more, but I cant cus of exam >.<''......... oh well, will get back to it soon enough.

And Eragon; I guess it looks kinda mayan. One thing I noticed while making the cuirass and the crown was how extremely Elonian/"Nightfallian" the details are. The avatars are certainly shaped after the campaign, perhaps more so than the Gods/Godesses themselves.

Hi Lorenna,

Thanks for responding. I want you to know I've been giving your crit a lot of thought. I did in fact try to do that stance and Yes it hurt! .....though luckily, I was able to keep my balance. Okay, so you have a point. I've beening giving this pose a lot of thought and have been researching some yoga poses. I even talked with my exercise instructor who also teaches yoga. There is a pose very much like this called the goddess pose (see links below) and I'm going to take a leap of faith here and presume this character is limber and agile enough to perform this pose quite naturally and keep her balance. I rather like the look of the pose with the curves and the dynamism it creates so I have decided to leave it unchanged. I do thank you for taking the time to point it out, however. It really forced me to go back and think if what I was painting was realistic enough.

You actually may have been concerned about the orientation of her left foot which is pointed inwards. I thought in my mind that her foot might be planted inwards so that the side of the foot could dig in and give her a firmer footing... though, I'm undecided about whether this is quite correct. In the end I may make it more pigeon toed like we see in the poses below. Huh, did I do this topic to death? Sorry, I love nerding out on this stuff.

Progress for today:

Still have a couple skills I need to make the frames for and hang up. Then its time to finish my poor tuskless wallow. And 3 dozen candy canes have shrunk to a dozen. Need to buy more this weekend.

Really neat idea Kiya! I'd love to see Spellbreaker if you are still making those.

Here's an update on mine. I added a bit more detail to the forest and gave it the sort of finish I want at the end (it's not done). I'm going to add some presents and, though it pains my heart, I think I might leave out my other characters since it would be a good deal of work to draw the remaining six in....

What do you guys think about having an Elf and a Grentch in the forest kind of sneaky like?

@Operative I think a sneaky Elf and Grentch could look really neat. I think you need to do some more work on your trees. All the trunks are straight like boards, there is no roughness to them. Here are the parts I think need some touching up.

And I could have sworn I made a Spellbreaker and Rebirth, not sure where they snuck off to. I just seem to have a Charm Animal and OoP left on my desk.

Kiya, I love the skill icons on the tree! Very very cool

Ooookie, well, Dwayna and Grenth are done.
Whew!
That was a lot more difficult than I thought... and if Grenth EVER wants me to draw him again, he's GOT to change his armor first xD
Finally I can start drawing the rest of the stuff ^_^

So, what do you guys think?

I love all the detail on Grenth! I think Dwayna needs a little more shading to match more, like on the red hat and its tassel. It doesn't have the same brush shading texture which looks so neat on them. So cute I want to make plushies of them!

The work is looking good so far, Operative.

Minami, your Grenth came out great. I'm seconding Kiya in that Dwayna needs just a slight bit more detail to match Grenth. Other than that, I'm liking what I'm seeing.

Thanks guys ^_^

Ye as I was looking at the 2 together, I saw what you mentioned, I need to put a bit more detail into Dwayna, to catch her up with Grenth.

It only shows how much I learned about shading between drawing Dwayna then Grenth.

When I was done drawing Dwayna, I was like "omg so much detail I never knew", and now when Grenth is done, I go "what was I thinking, she looks a lot flatter". lol

All righty, goin to correct Dwayna now ^_^

Thanks!!

Thumbs up on the Grentchie idea as long as they don't interfere with the centers of interest. I like what you are doing so far. I'm a bit concerned about the man's torso getting lost in the background since the value is so similar. You might consider a secondary lightsource to give his back a little form and dilineate him from the background. Perhaps there is some moonlight from behind them. Anyhow, good work so far Operative. Keep it up.

Thanks guys! Especially Kiya, it was very generous of you to spend so much time on those tips.

@Minami; They're precious. It seems like Dwayna has a little less shading definition, but otherwise I can't find anytihng to CnC.

But seriously. Buncha lurkers.

Hey folks!

No, I'm not dead, I promise. And I'm still in on the competition! It's just that... that... well I wanted to have a big chunk of time to work on it... and, um...

World of Warcraft.

So yeah. But I really am planning to do it! Christmas break starts next weekend so I will totally do it then.

Also, looking great so far, folks.

Nicely done! I think it would be fun to see some mistletoe over Grenth's head. And there is Dwayna laughing as if to say "yeah, right. I'm not kissing -him-!"

Thanks ^_^

Thanks for the idea Chyminy, it would be cute for sure
But I don't think Dwayna's pose fits that scene, her arm would need to be turned around and be more like... pointing at Grenth instead of reaching out like she does now.
I don't think I have it in me to re-draw them *lol* (that's where 3D is SO different, I could just re-pose my figure and do another render )
I already had an idea when I started drawing the gods, let's see if I can pull it off nicely ^_^

Originally, I didn't want to put so much detail into the figures, but as I was drawing I found that if there's no detail, it bugs me big time. So I started to draw more and more details in until I was satisfied... which ended up being a crapload of details LOL

EDIT: I just noticed I left the gold trim guidelines on on Dwayna's boots and skirt thing.... >_<
Gotta reopen her file and pay attention this time when I merge layers
