<---- Lovin' Dwayna-chan.

Minami, for dressing Grenth, just put him in regular attire but make sure facial expression can be seen. The fact that he's gonna be teeny-tiny and showing emotion at all will scale down the intimidation factor.

God I haven't posted in ages!

I went with the picture idea in the end, I haven't really got the gist of FL Studio 8 yet and I wanna get used to it more before I submit a song as an entry.

I'm about to go bed now, too tired after partying all night the past 2 nights! I'll post some progress tomorrow

Thanks guys! ^_^

Dove, what do you mean by "regular attire"? I was thinking about these clothes: http://wiki.guildwars.com/images/d/d...enthAvatar.jpg

Seems kind of a daunting task, but it would fit with the details on Dwayna's armor. I think if I only drew him in a black, hooded robe, that would throw off the balance of the picture.

He will have facial expressions, most notably the O_o eyes
There's no way to draw him a mouth, but in this case I think the eyes will suffice We'll see ^_^

Thanks for the tip

dwayna looks absolutely adorable, minami!

lorenna, that's really cool! Not to mention original.

I didn't update first post today >.>'''
I'll do that now then.

EDIT: gosh, I'm so sorry I didn't see this question earlier!

to be honest, I've set no limit to the amount of entries you can make. It seems that people are concentrating on 1 piece only, but for the sake of the Prose award, I'll say this:

YOU MAY make 1 entry for the Poetry/Prose Award AND 1 for the rest of the Workshop Awards!
This is simply because we need more entries for the Poetry/Prose Award to at all justify having it.

Here's what I've spent my sunday doing:

done painting the cuirass, haven't added the laquer yet. After that, it will be a fair bit more shiny, and the darker parts will be even darker.

I'm also trying to find a hue of silvery blue which will work for her skin-tone.
This is what I got so far, but I'm not 100% sure. Critique very much welcome:

This is what the cuirass looks like from the back, so far:

(so much bare skin, had to cover it up a bit >.>'''')

Here's the crown coming together:

Since this image was taken I've pretty much finished it, it's prepping for paint now.
It's MASSIVE.

no new blog entry yet, mostly because writing about painting techniques will take AGES.
I'll give it a try tomorrow morning with the progress pictures, and a big cup of coffee.

God, I can't believe how much time I spent on this thing already. D8

I hoped it would be stained glass deco! I love it so much, it's really nostalgic to me.
Must be difficult to make though, I imagine it requires quite a steady hand. :3
And thanks

Agreed Chicken ^_^
Tzu's costumes are so way awesome!

I'd of course love to have an art book, but I know I ain't getting one.
However I would love to place somewhere just to get that tonic I adore the reindeer with their cuuuute shiny nose ^_^

*imagines herself happily galloping around in GW*

It would be cool if you could use it outside of towns too! I'd go to Ravenheart Gloom and light up the whole place with my nose *lol*

^_^

I'm actually wondering that myself - I can't see any areas where there might be a closure, and it looks too fitted to be able to be pulled over your head. How'd you do it?

It definitely looks great painted

Or more importantly how do you store these after they're used? I can't imagine they compress into a closet on a hanger very much.

Very nice work by the way.

LOL you guys are right, where's the opening on the cuirass?

I think a bit darker blue in the bodypaint would be better, right now too much of your natural skin color shows through (tho that might be because of the silver, I'm not sure )
But I think Dwayna's skin is a little darker blue than what you tried out on that pic ^_^
Is it a cream you put on? Or make-up?

If you are very patient in nature, I would recommend MS Paint.

For anyone sane: Checkout Photoshop or GIMP. That is if you want to do it digitally. You can always use more traditional painting methods of course.

But I think Dwayna's skin is a little darker blue than what you tried out on that pic ^_^ Agreed, I confess I didn't notice at first it was painted (thought it was just a strange lightning in the room).

thanks everyone

The cuirass opens and closes on the right hand side, both on the strap around the back and the neck guard, with bra closures!
I had some to spare after sacrificing some bras "for the greater good" (to make costumes) so I used them. You can buy them in any shop these days though. Makes for really tight closures, and they bend around any curve of your body. They can also handle a fair amount of strain.

And no, costumes don't store easily.... >.>'
I have a fairly big basement storage room though, so that's where I usually put them. I organize them by costume and/or size in big cardboard boxes. I sometimes cut them up along the "seams" and seperate the pieces if I need more room, they're pretty easy to repair.

For body-paint I use snazaroo, they come in little round boxes much like water colours. I sponge the colours on and mix them on my skin. My silver was riddiculously low in pigment though, I wonder if it's expired or something. I used 1/4 of the sizeable pad just to cover up my skin-tone. Actually, I still couldn't cover it up properly. I'm gonna have to buy a new one I guess. And thanks for the colour advice, I'll dab in a lot more blue next time!

I also added a new blog entry about painting!

First post is updated with new entrants.

@ Jasmine - I've been going in and manually activating any accounts that I see under "requires activation". So don't worry about it - if you have a gallery on there, then your account is active and usable.

@ Tzu - ahhh, I see. I usually don't do side closures because they're so annoying to do up XD bra closures FTW, though. I love them.

And costume storage...there's a conversation topic that tends to have my mom wanting to kill me XDD

Well, I shaded the figure ^_^
I'm rather proud of it, my first shading job
LOL I'll quit saying first this and that, cuz everything is a first here
I had major trouble with the armor's gold, I never knew it could be so difficult to make something look like shiny gold O_o
She's turning out to be quite a detailed chibi, hehe
I tried putting less detail in it, but it bugged me :P

I think I'll take a day's break before I start Grenth, gotta let my poor fingers uncramp

Hope you guys like it ^_^

Minami, chibi dwayna looks excellent so far! Well done, you! I can't believe it's your first time! O.o'

And Odinius, that's a very original and cool idea, I love the little spring leaves beginning to grow on the tree. Dwayna obviously won this time around!

EDIT: Miss Temptress is now the Chief Organizer of the Workshop party! Big thanks to her for volunteering! If anyone else wants to help me and her organize the end party, please PM me. We will be able to post more detailed requirements for staff once we've drafted a schedule. Whether volunteering or not, this is your chance to tell us what you'd like to see at the party (of minigames, contests, etc)!
