Happy is reserved for people I care about, not a faceless, impersonal business that only cares about how deep my pockets are.

Maybe I'm more optimistic than I thought, but the more cash in A-Net's pocket will surely affect how GW's2 will turn out. So for me I don't mind paying a few quid to the game that I've been playing for the last two years.

At what point did A-Net hold up a gun and say "BUY THIS NOW!" Costumes are optional, if you don't get that????

And you would be so wrong and Anet would have to fire everyone one in their marketing department because that would mean they fail at their job.

From the advertisement they have been running the past two and half years at the expense of the customer. I know I didn't pay for an ad I didn't want to see 24/7. Least they could do is give the paying customer an option to disable it but they don't. Which would bring this back to the beginging to where is my free content for this advertisement. It's wasn't mission pack because you have to pay for that and it's not to play or content since that was paid for buying the game.

Ok how does more cash for Anet not mean more capital to invest in GW2? And what does the quality of GW2 have to do with the marketing dept? Am I misreading what you're saying here?

What advertisement? There is no ad in GW1 login screen. There is a feature, which allows you to access a portal to add content to the game that you are playing. If you want to see forced advertisement, check the top of this or any page while you're on Guru. That's ads, that's unrelated, random ads. Everyone who plays GW is a paying customer. You have to had purchased at least one campaign. And you could (and I did) unlock the BMP without paying for it.

They come in all shapes and forms. It's the same as https://secure.ncsoft.com/cgi-bin/St...ory&category=4 the only difference is it's shorter for a limited space.

All the cash shop is really like a high price cuss jar.

I think Anet as a business has done a very fine job in making the customers (us) actually buy their wares because it is 'supporting Anet'. True, this isn't the sole reason, but still a reason I see popping up on this forum.
What company wouldn't want its customers buying their products because those very costumers think it is needed for supporting them?

The same could be said for any armour set in the game. Buy a set of Obsidian for your Warrior? You're going to look the same as every other Obsidian Warrior in the game.
These packs were only just released, and I've not seen that many people wearing them. If anything, I think we'll see most people keeping them for events such as this, it certainly makes you stand out and you can dye them very well. I think they're a bit of fun. If you don't like them, wait for the unique hats we'll get on New Years. Personally, I'll be wearing my big red Dwayna coat along with that hat.
You had to know that micro-transactions were going to come in eventually. No monthly fee means the game isn't being supported the way most MMO's are. And while I'd prefer to see new areas/quests/armour, etc (sort of a mini-expansion pack) added in this way, rather than just frivilous costumes, I think this is fine too.

Last time I checked, you don't pay real money to get Obsidian sets, unless you buy gold.

GW2 funds were earmarked from GW1 sales' profits. Please learn how businesses work before assuming things like your above comments thank you.

The point was that if you wear armour, there are always going to be people who look the same as you, so what's the problem with looking the same as others who have the costume pack.

First, the costumes are a lot more common than obsidian armor and a lot easier to obtain for most people. Second, obsdian armor is a status symbol in game, the costumes are NOT, especially when even a low level mule can wear it. Third, obsidian armor is a real armor with max stats, and it support runes and insignia while the costumes are just shells. Fourth, there are more pieces in obsidian armor that you can mix and match or dye with since it is an actual armor compared to the costumes.
Why the hell would someone with obsidian armor cover it up with a clown costume that looks like every other newbie in the game? That is just dumb.

Combine armor customization with mix and match dye options, and you've got yourself MANY options to differentiate a character.
The costumes, even with dye look pretty much the same, and cost $10 to boot.
The REAL point is, the costumes were ill thought out, ridiculously overpriced, and poorly implemented. This is the kind of content updates that can be expected in GW2. THAT'S a problem...
Tom Swift
Not to mention the costumes are exactly the same for every single profession in the game and the hat changes the face so even your face looks like every one else's.

Costumes=good idea for anet to net some extra cash
Will not buy them for one i dont think that they are that "cool" and i have better things to waste my money... Like cookies and milk.
