I loved the choice of pre-made PvP builds, in RA all the W/Mo's were guaranteed to be using Mending and Healing hands (paladin), and W/E's were "Abominable Snowman" with deep freeze.
Oh, and there was a time when warriors used Gale over Shock. ♥
What do you miss most from the earlier years of Guild Wars?

Everything was new to me.
Now I know every single centimeter of terrain better than the back of my hand.
New stuff is great. Old stuff is... well... not so great.
Most things have improved since then, and I still want retroactive changes to make old campaigns more like the new ones. Like talking to NPCs with an icon over themselves to start missions.

not so much:
* not being able to join pugs because necros were regarded too weak in pve
* waiting 3 months before getting into UW because europe "never" had favor
* in my first guild being forced to play gvg as lonely lvl 19 newbie monk, without any previous pvp experience - and getting the blame when we lost
* Being humiliated for 1 hour when I by mistake joined a "farming pug" (without knowing) when doing tombs a 2nd time
* Getting harassed in outposts by naked wammos
* Getting disconnected after 4 hours in UW
* Not being able to test different builds because I did not have enough points
but more so:
* my first full exploration of UW took 11 hours, 4 hours to gather a team and and fail once, and 7 hours to actually explore (not all quest though)
* Using purple runes since gold ones were too expensive
* Taking 10 min breaks in the middle of missions and UW/FoW trips
* When pugs really could be bad (I pug missions a lot today, but rarely get into bad pugs)
* Most people carried self heal
* Without a clue, fighting the dobbelganger with a plain bloodbuild more than 10 times before I finally survived
* Beating the last area in UW with only 3 people left in the party and really be proud of it
* Being able to do long pulls, and fight during withdrawal was important
* When Rebirth was an almost mandatory skill

PUGs. I miss them. I do
As a monk I really had to concentrate on what I'm doing and where I'm standing. I never knew what to expect from people
Also the old Urgoz. Before the NF and etc
It was an elite area and you had to know what you are doing. The margin for error was really tiny
Went to Urgoz 4 days ago and I almost fell asleep

I miss evading.
Sure it was a pointless aspect, but it was only removed because there were no "Can not be evaded" skills. |
"Attack target enemy twice. The first attack cannot be blocked, the second attack cannot be evaded."
Lol i miss lots of things
But the biggest ones i suppose are;
.Being new to guild wars and knowing nothing
.when pugs were common
.when there were more people playing
.the factions login screen
.when there were more frequent updates
and i know there's probably lots more but can't think of them.

This just isnt the same game we all loved 4-5 years ago, when everyone thought Kryta would be Guild Wars 2, when you could farm trolls for a day straight and make 10x more then a shitty perma sin, when getting Obi armor (after about the first year) took 2 hours, when Wammo's were used in any organized team, when mesmers were the rubish class, when there was no grinding for titles, no eliteism, and a friendly community...
I honestly miss Guild Wars....

When minion masters were actually effective in pvp and pve. Motherf***ing minion cap. putting that in was a ridiculous decision.
Oh, and I miss my innocent days of the first few days of factions when roaming shing jea island was fun instead of boring and I just killed monsters for fun instead of quests.

My favourite time was early to mid 2007.
Lots of cool people. The good Kurzicks were still playing, the Luxons were all mobbing, and AB was fun shit. Game balance was pretty nice, both PvE and PvP. There were heroes, and still plenty enough people that you could make a choice either way. There were lots of people even in those quiet-ish Prophecies outposts. All Chat was filled everywhere. There were regular skill updates.
The game was alive.
