What do you miss most from the earlier years of Guild Wars?
Zez
Ursan Blessing...in my opinion, it didn't need any nerf, because it was only really useful to 2-maybe 3- professions (ele, war). Sort of like SF...its only useful to sins...
Perkunas
I remember the Monk Strike. My monk probably did that mission 10 or more times a day for 2 or 3 days. She didn't accept any pay for it either. She gave up on Ring of Fire and retired to Bergen's Hot Springs where she farms a couple times a month.
One thing I do miss from earlier years, when someone asked a question, they got an explanation, not, "Wiki it! or the equivalent."
Another thing I miss, a full, active, friends list.

I'll tell you what I miss most from earlier days of Guild Wars.... the teamwork when my old guild used to band together to complete a big mission or difficult quest. Laughing my ass off at my team mates when they spent more time eating dolyak poop (dead) or accidentally aggroing a huge mob. The teamwork was the key to an awesome game for me when it came to Guild Wars. Playing together with folks you hardly knew, and becoming close with them in the process. Picking up "PUGS" back then was rather entertaining because half our guild was built from meeting them. Now you avoid them like the plague.
It's sad to see it in such a different state today. I have several friends (over the internet) that I wouldn't know today if it weren't for GW.

sitting around in Marhan's Grotto with my 15k glad, fow helm and the the asclon boots (back then when you would only need 1 part to get the global effect).
double tap ice sliding, just chilling,3 man trappers runs, the rifts, when we didnt know anything about Gwen,LBs (lady blue steal), the bot town in droks ids, early days of factions, the chest in Lornar's Pass, OrO,
most of all my r/e with fire storm.GFG.

The Only Warrior
i miss when i could log on, check my guild list and see a full membership on, then take my warrior to anywhere in the game and instantly be accepted without hearing the following: "are you 1337?" "ping plz" "wtf? a warrior, gtfo!".
i also miss having to work for gold, and when my 100k sword didnt drop to 4k with 1 update, while this new impossible to get sword dominates the entire market so much that people are forced to buy gold online just to impress everyone else. i for one dont care, i like my armor, i like my weapons, i dont care if my hands glow, i do with same dmg either way.
also, i would like to see NF removed from the game. all of NF.

I'm personally tired of the login screen, I miss the times when they would change it to the new campaigns.

ectos taste nasty
Having fun with my RL friends
Sword Hammer Axe
Being able to quickly find a UW or FoW team that takes in anyone because they want to have fun, instead of picking the elite to win.

Tombs, Sorrow furnance runs, awesome community

I miss a game without titles and tons of grind.
germanturkey
yeah, no titles was the best back in the day. also, the "i have no idea what to do, so lets experiment as a group" factor.
Ariovist Lynxkind
The sense of awe at beginning the game
Factions loading screen (so wish they would let you chose)
The sense of satisfaction of finally making it to LA -> Denravi -> The Desert -> Droks
The double 'Charge!' buff when taking Little Thom and Stefan/Devona along

I remember a time when difficult quests were difficult, like Althea's ashes, Titan Quests - I would almost always go with a PuG, and we get would wiped down to 60 DP but still keep coming back and killing one enemy at a time before we all died again, lol.
Neo Nugget
I miss the excitement of reading update notes.

I too miss when Sins where the outcasted class when there where so many during the release of Factions and out of nowhere mass extinction where myself stood out and prove sins are useful in many ways since then i made her my main character and got her FoW armor
But now... everything is perma in pve.. such a disgrace for those true sins out there...

The epic campfire music on the toon selection screen... yeah that rocked.

When Ectos were 20k/ea
When Sup Vigor/Absor was 100k/ea
When Solo Trolls outside Droknars was a fashion.
& When you killed trolls & got a Fellblade - It was worth infinity money.
When EVERYTHING was NON INSCRIPTION - Gosh the inscriptions destroyed prices.
When people used to do Sorrow's Furnace or kill bosses outside Warcamp for greens to sell.
When the first Birthday Present came out, minipets were worth alot & it was fun to experince something new.
When there was people in Pre-Searing helping each other (At the very start of Guild Wars)
When Guild Wars Factions came out.
When Running people was the way to get rich.
When people discoverd 55 Monk.
Huge lists - I even got more.

Delightful Shaz
reaper with no name
I miss skill updates.

When everything you did was new and exciting.
FlyMoto
I miss when most everything about the game seemed so new and overwhelming. I remember going through skill lists and the skills seeming so new and that I'd never have run out of build options. And then I realized 50% of those skills aren't even worth using.
I do miss pre-scatter nuking with my ele. Taking down entire groups so quickly as they stood in every AoE spell I could throw at them.
I can't say I truly miss pugging. I remember doing THK on my monk first and completing it first time and wondering why everyone was so amazed we got through it easily, and then failing ~10 times on my Elementalist when I went through it next (typically due to uninfused people, overaggro, horrible monks, or letting a mursaat/jade armor past and having jalis die in half a second).
I miss even some of the worst PvP builds I would come up with being able to crush almost everything I would meet in RA (and RA win streaks easily over 30).

No minion cap. And when Sorrow's Furnace was new and exciting.
Introverted Dimensions
Not having a minion cap was probably the best lol

I miss being able to at least HIT my opponents in 4v4 PvP.
Nowadays, I'm afraid it's just not possible anymore.

Phaern Majes
I miss when FoW and UW access was determined by which region was winning the Hall of Heroes. And when Hall of Heroes was still called Hall of Heroes and was located in the desert rather than HA in the pvp isles. Back when IWAY, VIMWAY and ranger spirit spam were the dominate builds.
Being
I'm probably the only one who misses this but I actually miss the old combat numbers prior to Nightfall.
Jecht Scye
The only thing that kept my interest in the game - regular updates.
Abedeus
I miss regular game balances, skill updates, and times before the Nightfall and powercreep.
wilson
I miss all the friends and guildies that quit.

I miss the previous log in screens : P
Factions had to be my favourite. D:

yeah the old campfire.....sigh.
miss when updates like sorrows furnace were FREE.
miss when getting a green weapon you were delighted because it was pretty good...and a rare drop.
and I second the aoe affects....was really nice to be able to do that....
miss when anyone could get into a uw/fow group.....now you have to have xyz build or your kicked--no questions asked (not even if you HAVE the build suggested).

I miss the idea that the game wasn't mastered. People were not spamming "LFG Pro SC NO FAIL, NO NOOBS". Failing was possible, and if it happened the 13yr olds didn't spam "you all noobs, bai" and leave map. It used to be fun, and there were lots of things to do. Elite areas took 3hrs+ and it was still fun.
