Wintersday Re-run

There will be a festival hat NPC collecting Candy Cane Shards in exchange for this year's Wintersday hats, so if you miss the finale, you will still have a chance to collect the hat.

Personally, I'm shocked that the first reply didn't give Regina hell for saying that they wouldn't do a skill update before the mAT and now they are (not that I'm against it. I love that it's happening).

Meh, I guess no one cares about GvG anymore....

Yea well they should really release it the day after the MAT, with update notes before the skill update. I am pretty sure though more ppl want to see the PVE skill update.

You're not, but to be fair to Regina she is trying. A friend of mine and I have talked to her recently and she posted this update immediately following the conversation.

She seems to want to do great CR for the community, but feels limited by the resources. I know many of you will probably say, "It's her job to find the resources. She's the CR! etc. etc.", but after talking to her, I'll admit that it seemed genuine.

The reason why we do it before the MAT is that we will address some currently existing issues. And - as Regina mentioned - we will indeed release the preliminary patchnotes this week, so people have time to prepare for the changes

I think it's a great plan. Thanks for this guys. It will change up the mATs and hopefully make them worth watching/participating in

So this Wintersday re-run... is it the whole Wintersday with all the quests, NPC's, etc. or what?
If not, why a whole week if just to get the hat, which was the biggest problem during the finale?

You're right that Anet's failed on numerous occasions last year to meet their deadline within reason. However, as a potential customer for GW2, I will be looking to see whether they have learned from their mistakes and can follow their promises this year to decide whether I would even think to invest in their next game.

It is the whole event, including what you've listed above.

There is a finale to get the hat, but in case you miss this second finale, there will be an NPC hanging around collecting Candy Cane Shards (exact amount to be finalized) to exchange for that hat.

I'm actually GLAD you guys are employing the tactic of SHOWING the update before releasing it. This can already get you some early feedback, and gives people time to prepare.

Tough it's no excuse for the serious delays that exist, still thanks for the heads-up. This actually makes me believe the update is of serious proportion (The skill update). That you would want to give people a heads-up, as we all know what's going to be on that list (Water snare, Ranger spikes and Paragon spike damage)

Don't doubt about that, but from the countless times they've dropped the ball already I don't think anyone expects them to meet deadlines anymore. I'm positive that after beeing 3 months delayed, if they're giving us a time this time around it means they're confident they can deliver it - but right now pretty much everyone lost their trust.

As for the Wintersday redux, will the decorations be back up or are we going to have a wintersday in the middle of Kadamdan's heat? :P

I have nothing to complain about. What had to be said was said and there is little required for speculation. This is exactly what I like to see be told about upcoming things and scenarios.

However, in February, the ball is in your court, ANet. If no balance occurs before the end of February, my faith and actual belief about you guys (and girls) will be completely nullified.

Don't say GO RED ENGINE unless you can be of sure it will be possible. Learn it, and learn it well.

the WHOLE event....does it mean that characters who did all of the quests the first time around (minus the repeatable ones) will or will NOT be able to do them again???
........though my monk will now be able to finish his ebon title

glad to hear they are trying to be more communicative with the community.

AND we have the date for the canthan new year as well.....(will get that party title done with that).

(now they just need to confirm that they arent bringing xth back and just give us our final points..and be done with it).

I assume you mean skill changes targetted at GvG and not GvG only changes, because from what I gather thats not possible.So PvP only changes targetted at GvG issue.
