Thats actually something that slipped right over my head. Good call actually, I can see this being a HUGE problem when GW2 comes out. Luckily, I didn't do much in the HoM, so starting a fresh account to play GW2 may be likely for me but won't be a big deal.

I figured they'd use some sort of 'access key' system similar to what we have now. Probably put some sort of spin on your EOTN key that has encrypted data. The issue with it is that the keys would have to be used only once, so just making one would prevent any additional bonuses from being acquired. If they made a key for each section of the monument that would be unlocked upon completion, it could possibly negate the need for your NC account to be linked. This could potentially undo the promise of saved names, but in truth, I think it's stupid and unfair to reserve names in one game because someone was able to snag it first in a previous, independent game. Btw, How many toons are there in existance that have at least one thing in their HOMs?

They could just allow account linking in account options. Input your log in for your GW1 account in the GW2 client, GW2 client connects to GW1 server, retrieves HoM info, done. There's no need to involve the NCSoft site. I really hope they keep it simple. I don't plan to link accounts in the NCMA until and unless I am satisfied with NCSoft's security.

@OP: Your post strays a lot from the title. If you had left it to suggestions of what would people like to see rather than bashing things like zkeys that are in no way related to the HoM sans the beetle statue, I would have no qualms.

Onto your topic:

I would like to see my account have access to Destroyer/Tormented Weapons and a few sets of armor and some mini's. They have already stated that getting to your HoM isn't right after character creation, so it's not like we are getting max weapons at level one. They have also said that it is nothing more than cosmetic items. I don't really see getting access to armor for all the hard work I have put into GW1 as an advantage IF other players that never played GW1 have access to the same level of armor at the same point that I get my armor from my HoM. Same goes for weapons and really, pets offer no bonus.

No offense but I think the only reason you don't want good looking rewards for HoM stuff is because you don't have any.
/facepalm

You already got your rewards. Did you somehow forget about all the titles, minipets, and prestige weapons in this game?

It's absolutely ridiculous to expect that your "work" should continue to provide benefits after moving on to a completely different game. GW2 is not just an extension of GW. Nothing you have done will matter anymore. Get over yourselves.

ANet already made their vague promises on the matter, so there will be something, but it doesn't matter what they decide to give. Players like these won't ever be satisfied.

I don't recall them saying that at all, I believe what they said is it won't be anything that gives an advantage over new people.

I'd like to see armor sets unlocked later in the game, divine aura-like stuff and maybe /bonus weapons (although they'd probably suck like the current /bonus weapons)

by the time GW2 launches, there will be more GWAMMers than not, so it won't matter anyway. The rewards will be crap if any and everyone will have them, end of story QQ now and get it over with.

Well it's something I would rather not see, but oh well. But then too with all the hacked accounts scam mails and Ncsoft security I am learning more towards not linking.

100% agree with you. We already discussed something like that in GW2guru. Most of the people agreed that the less rewards the better. In GW2 many many many new players that never played GW1 will join us so it will be annoying for them to see all the time people with hundreds of "special" items. Just filling your HoM should be enough to get all the rewards.

Another great idea a guy said was to add a point system. Each achievement/armor/pet etc you add to HoM you get rewarded with points that you can spend for rewards. That way you can get the rewards by doing what you like most so you wont be forced to do pve/pvp just to get what you like.

It will probably be a title or something. " Ancestor of heroes"
I think I can live with that.

I'm thinking an unlocked armor set featuring a T-shirt bearing the following scrawled message "My ancestor's survived the searing, saved the world and defeated a God... and all I got was this lousy T-shirt!"

Uhm, how about the lore? Whatever you did in GW1 is in every way related to GW2. Your ancestors deeds influence you obviously. I would like to leave some kind of legacy in Guild Wars 1 I can carry on in Guild Wars 2. Be it a certain weapon skin, an animation, a armor skin. A sort of family heritage. IMO that is what the 'Hall of Monuments' is. Your legacy to your grandchilderen.

Also, /facepalm this, /facepalm that = retarded.

If i could choose what i'd like as rewards from my HoM I'd go with the following :

From the armor monument: Choose an armor as a costume you can wear in GW2 - changeable ...
From the Honor monument: Choose a title you can display.
From the Weapon monument : Dunno don't really like either type of skin you can display there so .... Ideally it'd be nice if they'd do it so i could put my most used weapons in a seperate box in the HoM so my grand grand children can find em.
From the Minipet monument: Be able to choose a minipet you can have following you around.
From the Fellowship Monument: Not sure there either ... can't think of anything cosmetic from there.

And now my realistic opinion on the HoM rewards. I doubt it'll be anything overly fancy or something extraordinary. And i have to say i don't really care all that much about the rewards from there. As long as they aren't giving anyone an advantage and are purely cosmetic i'm fine with (almost) anything.

In any case, you can have your titles if you want, they are what I would like to see in GW2 HoM, its the weapons and armor I don't. I don't have much variety when it comes to different armor sets: Asuran, Vabbian, Sunspear Elite, and Ancient - and have only dedicated a tormented shield and a destroyer shield. I just don't like the idea of getting any bonus', especially getting good looking armors only available to us GW1 players, I'm thinking about the new players here, it wouldn't be fair on them.
Alright first off getting unique weapons and armor from GW2 HoM is not crazy, when people pre-ordered the original gw they were given unique weapon skins that were never reused.
Also people don't do titles to show them off they do it for the promise of a reward in gw2, there's really no point of having 30 titles transferred over to gw2 if all you do is show one title nobody knows about one at a time.
To be blunt honest you haven't played the game enough to give an opinion of merit on what people who have been playing the game for years have worked to achieve.

The reason gw2 was made was not for a completely new game where everyone is back to square one. They made it because they had so many ideas to add features to the game which couldn't be added because of the games graphical restrictions and how they could expand the game using the z axis.
The whole point of HoM is so stuff I've done will matter in gw2, don't hate because you don't have.

There welcome to try, really gwamm isn't everything there's also pvp titles and if it took people years to get those titles don't expect as many people to have it.

I really don't care about the discussion you had with people on a forum because most people that spend all there days on forums never actually play the game. Again gw1 has its unique rewards like wintergreen weapons and many pre order weapons yet people seem to be living fine.

To sum it up its easy for a new player who just bought the trilogy pack for $40 and think they have insta opinion on rewards meant for vet players who bought each game for $70+ ($100+ for collecters edition).

It's irrelevant how much he or she has played this game. The point is that no one deserves a five-year headstart into GW2. If you want special shit, you have the opportunity to buy the preorder or CE like everyone else.

The prospect of rewards in GW2 might sweeten the deal for some of the absurd grinds people talk themselves into enduring right now, but they serve no purpose beyond that. "I get rewards in GW2 is nothing but a sore excuse based on something you do not know anything about". A figment of your imagination if you will.

Make no mistake, once you play GW2, you will want rewards for playing GW2. Those GW1 rewards will count for squat-douche. Why would anybody buy a game to exhibit his prowess in the predecessor. If you are there and want to compete, you have to compete there, not in some precursor that is then wiped from your mind anyway.

I dont want to sound aggresive or anything but seriously get your facts straight. People that spend time on the forums of a game are those that play the most. Who do you think run the community events? The people that spend their time on forums. Who do you think make most of the guides and builds? The people that spend their time on forums.

So you say GW2 was only made for GW1 players? Guess again. The only thing GW1 has to do with GW2 is the HoM to reward the playerbase for their support all these years. And usualy when you reward the playerbase you try to reward them as equally as you can.

I'd like my companion to be the ghost of a GW1 toon from my account. It wouldn't be any better than other people's companions but it would be a decent tribute to a toon I really like and have spent a great deal of time on. Though you'd be stuck with the toon you choose and each character you make would have that toon as their companion.
