open around 40 gift (think 39 but.. whatever)
4-5 traded vs war supplies, other 35 given by the riverside assassination quest
so far got no cons except 2 graals, 3 sup id kit, 2 sup salvage kit, no lockpicks, lot of lokums and cakes, 1 medal of honor, 1 mini Salma!

I've opened only about 10 gifts so far, but they all contained one of the amazing xp scrolls (mostly 100/125/150g/ 1 was 400g), only one contained a Perfect Salvage Kit which was the best one obv. What's the probability for such great luck? How comes I get 90% scrolls and people don't get any?

I've gotten a few essences, a few lokum, a few brandy, few lockpicks, few res scrolls, some id/salv kits, and scrolls (mostly it's been these). Nothing special, though getting the parts of consets is nice sometimes.
And another note, anyone else have trouble selling scrolls to the scroll trader, but not the regular merch? lol. That seems kinda odd to me. Scroll trader won't accept them, but the normal merchant will. And yes, I sell those as I have no need for them. ;p

I could have sworn I always sold the scrolls to that one. lol. And it says Scroll Trader on my screen, not a rare scroll trader.

But yeah, I think I also got a MoH once or twice. Bleh, only reason I open them is for a chance at getting a mini to sell, but my luck with gifts isn't so hot.

I wonder when we are going to learn about the use of the medals. Speculation enough and they might be right, but I need to know howmany I need for the weapons(or something else ofcourse.)

I think we all get a screwed view of the drop rates because we read this forum, as far as I know the minis are indeed really rare + random so chances are that most of us wont ever get one.

Some of the people were doing falken runs in the beginning like 24 hours a day it seems.
I mean how can you possibly have like 20 stacks of war supplies like some do from just the assassinations and bounties.

Started opening gifts again after I told myself I wouldn't (damn itchy clicky finger). It is disheartening to get junk over and over when people are getting minis their first time opening one gift.
But at least I have come to terms with it and started making use out of the junk I get. Tons and tons of scrolls and I just so happen to be taking my Survivor through Factions at this moment so I'm not complaining now.
So far I only have 2 stacks of War Supplies from bounties on six different characters daily. Only gifts I make are from the quests Salma gives now. But saving the War Supplies until I find out what Medals of Honor are used for.
But at least I have come to terms with it and started making use out of the junk I get. Tons and tons of scrolls and I just so happen to be taking my Survivor through Factions at this moment so I'm not complaining now.

I have 10 medals, and as I said if it requires 100 I'd be seriously pissed.
I realize a lot of people are dedicated farmers and do stuff on 20 chars, but honestly grinding the event shouldn't really be necessary.

Actually I've gotten a few lockpicks from gifts so that could work... but 50, hmmmm - damnit.

Man, all these people getting mini pets (especially Livia) are so lucky.. I've opened 120+ of the stupid gifts and all I've got to show for it is over 9000 shining blade rations.. Maybe a scroll of unneeded experience or two as well.
Not the right board but I'll totally buy a Livia if someone doesn't want theirs.

I'd prefer to get my own minis myself, I don't have the patience to stand around trying to sell stuff, and just about as little patience hunting around trying to buy things (how come whenever it is I need lockpicks, it takes me forever to find someone selling them for 1250 each?)
At least with trying to get them myself I'm actively doing something in the world, playing the game, not rotting away in kamadan spamming.

I thought getting 9 scrolls in 10 gifts was bad. Now opened 3 more and got... 1 more scroll aaaaand 2 others contained... 1 Star of Transference!
OMFG, I never expected I'd WISH a gift to be a scroll, this crap is beyond useless and I can't even merch it but just delete (or eat, no difference). Nick's gifts at least ALWAYS drop things with at least a little value, but these are a sick joke.
As I had 2 more gifts cluttering my inventory I decided to open them aswell. Aaaaaand I 2 Shining Blade Rations! Strictly worse Wintergreen canes I got a truckload of? Instadelete...

Not that I'm complaining about the low drop rates of the valuable stuff, I just wish Anet would stop with the thought process of exp scrolls and skill points as being valuable or useful, as if most players don't have hundreds of unspent skill points by the time they've completed campaigns and have moved on to end game stuff like War in Kryta. I can't afford the plat prices of being able to spend all the skill points I have, whether on skills, or on consumables even, it'd be more platinum than 1 account can hold, if you include all characters. I'm sure most people are in the same boat, having an abundance of skill points they can't do anything with.

I see people spamming to sell for those prices but I can't imagine somene would pay it for a very very slim chance at getting a mini thats worth 100k on the high end.
I'm over 150 gifts opened now and notta for minis but I did buy a cheap Livia, at just 5k each for these thats around 10 minis.
I don't mind buying up some nic gifts from time to time just to get the damn brown rabbit that I still need but Nic doesn't laugh at me for getting scrolls.
