War in Kryta - Features you like?
dancing gnome
There are a lot of new additions and tweaks to the game with the War in Kryta. Some of us have explored them more thoroughly than others. I thought it might be interesting to ask people what their favourite things from the WiK are.
Personally I really like the Ebon Falcons. Even though their names are all taken from Spice and Wolf, I think the Live Team did a great job at giving them all unique characters and really make them feel like real people in a tight group.
From Dian Fermati, the drunken brawler (and appropriately themed, yet powerful skill bar) to Koro Sagewind's snobbish mesmer comments (and the nice little rumour tied in from the three old men in Lion's Arch Keep) to Lawrence Crafton's talk about money and trade economics. Even though it was directly inspired from Spice and Wolf, it fits really well with the Guild Wars world and the overall balance and feel of the Ebon Falcons. The fact that they all have their own special PvE skills also reinforces their "elite" feel. Giving them all signature weapons (and Thackeray gets a prophecies pre-order bow to boot) was a nice touch. The Live Team did a great job of making use of limited in game resources to deliver a very polished Ebon Falcons narrative here.
Having random allies join your party is really cool as well, I always feel like I'm getting some kind of bonus reward when I enter an explorable area and I don't usually care too much which ally joins me (although I'd be lying if I said I didn't want to play with Thackeray since he was introduced for Wintersday, he seems like a cool guy).
Courier Falken is my favourite PvE event I've played. I love that it gives me a reason to play in Kryta over and over and fight the White Mantle. I also find him very rewarding, enough that I don't feel like I would be better of spending my time farming elsewhere. I really enjoy the escort quest.
Finnally I love that it really is telling a story, not just adding content. The evolution from Kryta as it used to be, to a place with Peacekeepers moving in from farther out to the White Mantle resurging. Princess Salma always felt like Varian Wrynn to me and I wanted to explore the rest of her story. Now I'm just dieing for them to ad Ebonhawke as a new outpost, even if it serves no function.

The fact it's not a cakewalk hence avoided the power player QQ akin to those that finished EotN in 2 days, stood in outposts all day wearing chaos gloves, and posted "That's it?".
As a fan of lore or anything that enhances game depth I enjoyed the dialogues and the random allies feature was cool too.
Kind of depressing your thread will never get as many posts as those focusing on the negatives but I admire your positivity dude.
Good luck to you.

I like the humor Anet still manages to toss in here and there, "It's uncommon, so it must be valuable, right?" on the medal of honor is one good example but the wiki description for it is even better, "Rarity Common" hahaha

Some people prefer infamy to fame.
It seems to be a common malady among American males starting at around age 14 or 15. Most of them grow out of it.

Probably the best thing I like is it brought me back to Kryta. I hadn't been back for awhile and it really is a cool part of the game.

I like alot of the new style of combat (AI with shifting, dual profession builds) and the new reward system (ie farming war supplies through quests and the courier mini quest rather than using SF for XX'es). Having said that I'd rather they let us into using higher level henchmen...(use of 4/5 heroes would be nice but hey) and of course let us mod the greens.
Oh yeh and it is nice being in a good looking land (endless desert yawn, endless city yawn).

I like fighting the new mobs honestly, they pack a pretty good punch in NM and HM. I like the fact that the Peacekeepers have multiple builds, where a balanced team on your end will fair much better than simply trying to steamroll them. Also the fact you can get pretty decent rewards (Medals of Honor, Royal Gifts, New Greens) from actually doing gameplay is a good thing.
Courier Falken's escorts are plain fun to me, it's what other escort quest NPC's should be, someone who can actually fight back and hold their own, too many other games have you protect weak NPC's who end up dying too fast or run off without you, and leave the mob to you, this on is done just right.

I disagree, GOOD JOB to those who sold their glitched modded greens for much much more before they reverted all of them back. Did those people really think anet was going to keep those modded greens around. There were even some that could be modded with mods of other weapons to exceed stats of a normal modded weapon. Seriously people just need to predict things better.
The Drunkard
It's nice to see that this thread is off to a great start with all of the bitching about the greens...
Anyway, I have really enjoyed escorting Falkan- I think this feature will reinforce to Anet the fact that people have fun playing for tangible benifits rather than for "content" (because everyone does the carrier runs in factions.)

I like the new green items, though I will probably never get one as a drop (and no I wont buy them from someone). I think they could add a few more of the pvp skins for the pve players to enjoy as well. (and vise versa if it hasnt already been done).
I like the royal gifts, though my last 4 of them were all perfect salvage kits
my hubby likes the new mobs--something he can kill with his 4 man-no-healer-group (I dont play with him much anymore because of his, rash!, style).

I really dig the new content that they've added, especially the mobs and allies which join you in explorable areas. I wonder if they're going to add in a few more heroes since the sin, ritualist and mesmer class lack three characters?
Vulturion
I like pretty much everything the OP pointed out, plus the original multimedia part leading in.
The biggest thing for me personally is the ultra (ultra) rare miniature drops of easily accessible mobs - assuming this content is permanent now, should keep me playing for many hours to come.
Currently I'm in the "why does the loot table hate me!" wailing stage of no miniatures to show for my many hours, but I'm optimistic that I'll progress soon.

- Stuff to do in poor Empty Kryta.
- Finally that bandit hammer can be in my hands... well, it's a staff with its skin, but the skin is what I liked.
- And those nice daggers disguised as swords... I wish there was an NPC that took certain skins and made copies of other types. Like giving a double axe and turning it into a hammer, or giving two sowrds with the same skin and getting dagges with that skin... double Jittes...

I liked the story of how Livia was with the Asuran's, that was pretty cool. I wonder if that was always to be included, I remember when she turned up with them in EotN, I was wondering why a Necro was hanging out with little Yoda guys (when I first got there)
Apart from that, new mobs etc....I should finish Kurzick title this weekend, by that time all the new drops etc. will be so cheap to not even be worth it I'll still do the bounties with guildies etc. cos wouldn't mind a mini Livia

New content is always good, and I like new bounties, but they really should reward more for completion, especially since you can farm war supplies way easier elsewhere.

For the most part, WiK has been a blast. The Peacekeeper/Mantle groups provide some good surprises (honestly didn't expect to see a Ranger cast Gaze of Fury) and the Courier runs are a good source of entertainment and profit.
My only qualms with the new content lie in requiring each character to go through the dialogues and the excessive amount of references. References are fun every now and then, but it would be nice if the current lore could stand on its own two feet.

I'm enjoying the new content with three of my characters. I've enjoyed the escort duty the most, I believe. And the fact that the 15 WS HM reward quests are very difficult and require a party of real people to complete in a timely fashion. Beetletun hasn't seen that large a population since the days of ettin farming.

I enjoy not knowing what is going to happen next.

I loved browsing the web while waiting for all the pointless dialogs to finish.
jazilla
I love the Necro ally and her personalized Ebon Sin Support character. The first time I saw him I was stoked.
Mintha Syl
I like the story, the dialogues, the random sentences from new npcs...having random allies is funny but sometimes it prevents careful tactics to be used. I'm still waiting to see how the story evelves, especially on the asura lab side. But, I'm beginning to ignore what is happening cause I'm bored with the hunting thing (bounties and courier=strongly repetitive and no rewarding at all).
Also, forgot to say it, I love how Lion's Arch is populated again, before it could only randomly happen to see one person for 2 seconds before teleporting to another location (a port city indeed).

I don't see how this makes me a "scumbag" for taking advantage of a situation that was clearly obvious :L
I didn't say How much I wanted but was offered 75e....Like I wasn't going to accept?
ALSO, back on the subject - I love courier Running (One of the only things in guildwars I enjoy doing for large periods of time )

I like that it adds further story progression - you feel like your defeat of the Titans and the Mursaat at the end of prophecies has a real impact upon the demographic of tyria. It nicely ties EotN and Proph together and develops characters who I was always fond of (like Evennia etc).
I also like the way its been implemented, with no announcements as such, just grassroots investigation by players. I'd love it if a couple of new outposts were added etc, but at the moment I am enjoying following the story and contributing to the cause.

I like that the 3 persons on top of this events are 3 strong women. How Livia treats the asura, how Evennia manages to get to convince some vanguard to help, even if they were strongly determined to stay out in the beginning. And Salma...well, she's Salma. I like that new characters were introduced and the further lore for hawks and blade.
dancing gnome
I like that it fits into the lore so well. It seems they were careful to make sure they didn't break things already existing and even made use of small details from the past.
The Hotspring Murders really feels like it was written as part of the overall story, not just some quest that was written 5+ years ago. The continuation of that plot with Laymen Josef was good writing.
I also like the revival of the Ascalon and Kryta diplomacy. Recognising things like that really makes the game feel more alive.
Personally a lot of the way the WiK has been handled seems like it took a few lessons from the GW2 events system.

Also love the part that the mobs have non standard skill bars, it has been really fun to play them. Even with the henchjes if I don't have a mate playing
Scary
Well What I would like to see is in following of this...
Wanted by the Shining Blade quests.
It would also be nice if there where White mantle quests too.
Or a PVE area where 2 groups can fight each other. The one along a group of Shiny Blades, the other along The White Mantle. And all of this in a normal
PvE setting...With no points of balthazar getting for killing each other... but
the normal drops...also when a human or hero player get killd.
Wouldn't it be nice that your team mate drop a green mini for a other player.
Men I bet you would like to see the faces..

The new foes are awesome, the peacekeepers are the most diverse and wild guys to fight against. I just wish that they had made all the mobs like the new mantle and peacekeepers from the start.

I like: The story. With Gwen <3 Thackeray, livia Zinn and Blimm (and GOX), Evennia recruiting and all that ^^
The new Mantle are also extremely fun to farm lol.
The new greenies (omg Firebrand and Law and Order 0.0 actually found Firebrand!)
The new minis (I want Evennia or Livia!)
What don't I like?
