Speedbooking- is it an Exploit?
Arm
ofc hero speedbooking was an exploit. Exploits are unintended cheats within the game. Do you really think anet intended for your heros to run through entire areas unmolested after u die?
plus [email protected] for qq'ing over an exploit nerf - what a joke ;P
and to everyone else - just play the game normally, it doesn't matter if you have max eotn ranks. Most of these pve skillz are fine at rank 1 if you're any good at the game. And if you're butthurt that now you will need to actually do some work to get titles to "exploit game ai" in high end areas i lol @ u all the more ;P

NO, they even intended for your heros to run through entire areas unmolested while you are alive but not being near them.
Now they changed their mind obviously. So thanks to the TE to have helped in this matter starting a discussion about (un)intented playgame designs.

now I'd like to see an improvement on monster ai to actually want to attack things outside their bubble as it is retarded to watch them get "stuck" on a perma tank while squishies just outside their bubble spike them.
I mean if we can see them why can't they see us? all monsters in gw are blind? wtf. I guess the bubble is actually the range of their sonar ;P
It would be so funny watching all the qq threads if they did this and all the "pro" ai-abusers had to find a new way to play the game that actually made sense.
Although I said retarded above I guess I really mean retardedly funny that these monsters can't see/are so dumb, the sad thing is it makes players play just as dumb. I guess the real humour to me is when people are talking about "exp or pro" when it comes to dealing with blind idiots ;P
Check in on the high-end pve/alliances and you'll get your laughs like me too ^^

Running missions has never been considered an exploit in the past. I don't know why it would be now.
And just about everyone uses speedbooking to max their EotN titles now, and I don't blame them. EotN titles are some of the most boring grinds in the game.

you're misunderstanding people are referring to the fact that previously u could die. Switch to hero view. And your heros could run through the whole area which monsters did not spawn in as you never entered the areas that que their spawning. So essentially your hero's are running through an "exploited area" free of all spawns besides boss ones
in this way you exploit the fact that monsters don't spawn unless u get in their vicinity and your heros do all the "running" up untill the point where the bosses spawn at the end which are the only spawns...

i love how people who have played this game for like 4-6 months come on here with the 'play the game normally' attitude...we have done..we got gwamm, i finished the game about 6 times with other charsand they all got about 5-10 titles on them (not account ones), once you do that you can explore other aspects of the game (u may find this someday)then when u do...people QQ and want it removed until they need it then think 'shit i cudda made life easier if i never moaned '.
speedbooking just made a slow and labourios task alittle bit faster so we can concentrate on another area of the game WITH OUR GUILD...but apparently to do that you gotta spend hours vanquishing ??
anyway it was handy while it was there, but like everything in the game at the moment ..if its easy...its nerfed...lets see how long keystone signet lasts before it gets its own thread to be nerfbatted.
(steps off soapbox ^^)

Anyone else finding this thread getting funnier by the minute? Exploiter's using the same excuses as the botters were using just a week ago... LOL!!!! Come on everyone... Whoever was carrying pitchforks and torches last week better pull them back out or u may look like a hypocrite... Just saying...

Seriously, this thread is providing no purpose anymore, people are just arguing. To all those people who feel they have won the game..just step back and play something else? I've owned Guild Wars since release but often take long multi-month breaks when I find myself getting tired with it before coming back later.
I don't think that 'I've won it' is an excuse to exploit, if you've won it go do something else. But all that junk I just said aside, we are all just using the same tired arguments seen in a thousand other threads, I think we should let this one die.

If you have done all you think there is to do why continue playing? All you have to do is substitute "bot" with "exploit" and you are using the same old stale excuses seen hundreds of times by now.
Skyy High
So....exploit or not, speedbooking's dead apparently. Close thread plz?

The problem seems to me that many want instant gratification without having to do any tasks to get it, aka lazy people.

You say that as if the population of people who play the game and use exploits of some kind is a small number of people and that simply isn't true. Hell the 1000+ people who botted were just a drop in the bucket as far as banning botters go and exploits are accessible to everyone. Also they may have the rights to the game but if no one's playing their damn game it's worthless so you can take the "oh but it's their game card" and throw it a way. It's as much our game as it is theirs.
And as I just explained a 5 year old game is going to be VERY STALE if people aren't trying to find new ways to do things. And with limited updates a lot of new fun things to do involve exploits. It's the nature of the beast. |

i agree. the funny thing i find is that a lot of ppl end up overfarming these titles, because they do them before any dungeons/vanquishes (which those 2 alone provide close to 150k if not more).

I was thinking(which usually gets me in trouble) would someone who used an innocent 3rd party app be more liking to try other possible malicious types? Sort of like a gateway to try other things. (The most I ever tired was GWx2 and could never get it to work, so I bought a laptop, so much easier)

Not quite as fast, but nearly so, someone has posted a change to Against the Charr in the speedbook thread which makes it still work.

Dude, stop worrying they fixed it anyways. And still, when there are people doing it that much. You wont get banned. Stop worrying its a video game dude.
Shasgaliel
I would say that the fact that we have such possibility is a bug in the game. Same as was with the ghost running. Flaw in the process, bug whatever, ANET should rather fix it and not ban anyone unless they publicly stated it is an exploit. In such a case they could ban as much as they want.
