Are you tired of the overpowered enemy AI?
NocturnalLunacy
I have become so disgusted and just down right p***ed lately of how overpowered the enemy AI is in the pve area of any campaign of GW. I'm talking about in hard mode. For example: during the "Wanted" quests, in Prophecies, you are only allowed 6 team mates in the areas around Lion's Arch. In hard mode you have to attempt to defeat on average, 10+ enemy NPC's that range from lvl 26 up to 32. Now honestly how in the Hell can 6 PVE players defeat all those enemy NPC's that tend to spam high damage skills without having to worry about recharge time? I got hit with Rodgert's Invocation from two Fire Imps 6 times in a matter of 1 second. It took out the whole team. No team mate even had time to cast before we were dead. And then to top it off, we get a death penalty that makes us even weaker. Even the Mesmer had no chance to cast an interrupt. That is uncalled for. Then when fighting the White Mantel, they run in packs of 15 or more at times. C'mon, is Anet trying to P*ss everyone off? Or is Anet just a bunch of sadists? There have been so many times that I've wanted to just delete my account and go get my money back from my pre order of GW2. I understand the nerfing of skills that are overpowered compared to other skills, but as it is, every skill has been nerfed so much that there is no balance. Things absolutely are unfair when it comes to human players against the enemy AI in hard mode. Is this game supposed to be fun or irritating and infuriating? And most of all, what can be done about it?

Hard Mode.
Oh, and use a spirit spammer or two and watch the peacekeepers get steamrolled.

They dont run in packs of 10-15 lol, control your aggro...

Everything you are complaining about can be fixed with good positioning, good teamwork, working builds, and aggroing correctly.
Learn to flag heroes and henchmen, and use the resources you have available.

Overpowered AI? Not in my Guild Wars...not when the AI constantly spams Empathy on Bone Fiends.
NocturnalLunacy
Yeah everything all of you said I've done. I'm not a noob. I've been playing for a long while. I've beaten all the campaigns both in nm and hm. But there's a difference between hard mode being hard and near impossible. I do watch aggro and I do flag heros when needed. Go to where Inquisitor Baur is and tell me that there are not 15+ enemy NPC's there in one pack along with 2 of the Jade Armor bosses and 2 regular jade armor. I counted them or tried to count them before They all ran after to us when trying to pull. Yeah hit one they all come. The only thing to do then other then rezoning, is try to fight as you can. And aggro has nothing to do with 2 Fire Imps producing that much damage. And our builds are sound. They've been tested and used and experienced through out the campaigns. So don't act like I am some noob frustrated over not knowing how to use my skills. I am frustrated over the overpowerment of the enemy NPC's. Instead of being disrespectful, why don't you put your energy into finding a way to solve it.
Hyperventilate
Problem:
Solution: Spirit Spammer.
Problem:
Solution: Cry of Frustration. Imps usually follow in about the same pattern. Interrupt one, you can interrupt most.
Problem:
Solution: Get a better mesmer.
Problem:
Solution: You're wrong, stop over aggroing. Stand back and pull.
Problem:
Solution: Play more PVE. Other than energy hax and always knowing you're going to cast with proleet interrupt skills, HM isn't exactly hard.
Problem:
Solution: Get better, play more PVE that isn't against White Mantle.

Hard Mode = Paragon Mode
There's really nothing in PvE that can't be overcome by throwing more Paragons at it.

Honestly I just bring Xandra spirit spammer, Gwen and MM Livia...........as a result I steamroll through the white mantle even with Alesia as my healer.

You must be doing something wrong, I rolled the 6 person wik bounties with my monk in hm using an ele, mes, nec hero and the monk and fighter henchies, was no worries and my heros weren't even runed (used my monk mostly for 600'ing until nerf so never bothered building up heros) Maybe just take a little time and see what can be effective against them, nothing really to solve as pretty much anything can be facerolled these days and that's even before we start talking about sabs necs or discord or dwg teams or whatever other gimmick builds are the flavor at the time.
NocturnalLunacy
That's interesting cuz I had Xandra, Gwen, and Olias instead of Livia. It's obvious what they are. Send me your builds so I can compare. More than likely they will be similar but send anyway to see if I need adjustments. You know the only time I have had no problem was when I was on my rit char and I was SoS and Razah was knockdown communing and Xandra was restoration. I could run through and aggro any group anywhere without issue. Usually I brought a tank to distract the enemy. Could rits be overpowered as well? Shh don't say anything, they'll just nerf rits.

PvE for the most part is painfully easy even in hard mode for general stuff, even with sub-optimal builds. The new Wanted quests aren't too hard but I am annoyed by the "helper" NPCs who die and then drag extra aggro to my party. It seems especially worse when I'm H/Hing.

Dead NPCs need to stay dead.
Mangione
AI is nowhere near overpowered.
NPCs tend to attack minions, ball in AoE, switch targets randomly, and do a lot of other stupid weird things.
You are doing HARD mode. Here some tips for the problems you describe:
- No group is made by 10+ enemies (except some mobs in Joko's Domain in NF). If you say that "on average" you are against 10+ NPCs at the same time, then you are overaggroing. Flag your heroes not too far from you, use a longbow to lure the enemies to you.
If you do it properly, you will never have problems.
wut? Biggest mob I saw of White Mantle was made by 8 of them. And it was a rare occurrence. Same advice as before, try to control aggro, pull your enemies if they are bunched togheter.

Hard Mode can be done by bringing one hero necro Minion Master, one or two hero ritualists, possibly one of them as spirit spammer, add one or two healing henchmen, fill the rest at your pleasure (Herta and mesmer henchmens are usually my favs).
Read the links suggested, set your team as I told you, and you can just roll your face on the keyboard and win at HM while your heroes wreak havoc on all the enemies.

I can do it in my underwear and no skillz........thought I would beat everyone to it.
enemy AI isn't the problem it's the other 2 hero's. Honeycomb helps after the H/H and tag along help wipe the party, and you can always use consumables everyone who lies about not using them have a stock pile they use.

To answer your question, I'm not tired at all. At this point in my game life, wiping is a thrill of sorts.

I just came in here..I didn't even bother reading what the guy wrote as a know its just a QQ...
for starters...lol overpowered AI...If you can't out think Guild Wars AI...theres something wrong...
come back with a plan...pull...use decent builds that aren't outright countered by the enemy you are coming up against... if you know somethings gonna be hard...prepare.. spread heros when your coming up against nukes...
These are all basics...and all out think Guild Wars AI...

Basically everyone has told you what you need to do.
I do agree at times that HM can get frustrating if you do what I do and think you are all mighty. I have these moments where I feel like a bad*** (Probably because I'm a Mesmer and we are far more superior than everyone ) and think nothing can stop me so I get careless. Then after a wipe or two I get frustrated and upset and that just makes it even harder when you're not focused.
Definitely get yourself a random longbow for pulling. Flag your heroes at a safe distance, then pull and run back. Yeah it might be slower, but it is safer. As for the imps, flag your heroes to the side and pull yourself. This way, you are the only one getting blasted with RI and your heroes aren't. Or, get a Gwen interrupter.
I usually always bring a MM, Spirit spammer, and Healer with me. Sometimes I'll switch out my Spirit spammer for an interrupter. Then just grab henchman healer and whatever else you feel comfortable with. I usually bring Warrior for cannon fodder.
Don't forget your consumables as well. They come in handy greatly.
Just basically, take your time in Hard Mode. Pull your mobs, have patience, and in the end, it will all work out. Also don't forget, get Infused. Yeah it might be extra work to go out and infuse your toons, but in the end it is worth it. And as well, find a friend. Not to sound offensive or anything, but a friend that is willing to do HM with ya, is always better. Good luck to ya

The basics of what you're doing wrong have already been covered -- learn to pull, don't overaggro, learn to position (at least against AoE eles), get better builds.
A little bit of WiK-specific stuff to add:
1. Hench aren't infused. If Jade are part of the spawns, either plan your heroes to do that part with a team of 4 after the hench die, or go with another person so you can have a team of 6 infused characters.
2. Hench have awful builds. Reason to consider going with another person.
3. Peacekeepers and White Mantle now feature multiple, totally different builds for monsters with the same name. So you may need to watch the monsters to figure out....
3a. Who's the healer? It's not always obvious.
3b. Who has the fast rez? It's definitely not obvious.
3c. Who has the @$#&%@*$ Splinter Weapon. (Especially bad when it's on a Peacekeeper Marksman.)
4. Consider Frozen Soil if you have trouble killing faster than they rez.

I run with xandra SoS spammer olias MM bomber and livia as a nec/rit healer. just the four of us and i havent had that much trouble. Sure i get wiped from time to time but oh well. thats why god invented shamrocks candy canes honey combs etc.
I think you are runnin bullet style into the groups or something. the groups are very well spaced out and dont have much for patrol patterns.

you can try 'finish him!' on your characters and learn to spike where the balls fly off the sides of their heads.. you should be able to steamroll if you design your builds for high damage.. I can guess your build- you have self heals and such.. even warrior you should be going hundred blades and slapping that sword at 100 miles an hour
did all the quests with different professions in hm with heros.. my builds aren't even wiki xD it does help if you take the time and learn how to flag your heros and henches to avoid aoe and such, also use flags to hold them back so they don't get pulled into another mob
I swear if gw2 is catering to this crowd.. I doubt I'll play long

Tank and spank can still work in some areas of the game, last I was aware. AI is hardly "overpowered."
Voodoo Rage
No shame in playing NM, that's what I do most of the time...

I did it in HM with H/H with no problems. Used a healing monk as my char and carried Pain Inverter, Ebon Vanguard Assassin, Sniper and Unyielding Aura (someone goes down, they come right back up.) Had 2 Rayway monk heroes, 1 Rit/N minion bomber hero, a necro hench (mainly just for the BiP) and a healer hench to help me heal. I usually target closest enemy and call that as target then PI any heavy AoE. Pretty much use the same set-up for vanqs. I think Alesia was the only one that died and she died a couple of times.
It's not a good idea to cluster your team when taking on several HM eles. Did you have a healer at all and, if so, why were they anywhere near the imp's aggro?
Now... today's Z-bounty was tough in HM. Finished that with some DP. lol

BTW, if imps are causing you trouble, handle their fire using melee love. They hardly spike melee units.

I intentionally agro 2 groups to even have to worry about possibly maybe them getting lucky and spiking enough that they don't just DIE.

Who died and made you the boss? I don't stack consumables. I rather sell them to people who can't handle playing without them.

As everyone else says... Pull, watch aggro, Flag heroes.
Personally I like too flag heroes back, Ill take aggro while they protect/nuke.
I have strayed away from taking a MM as I find being a Warrior I can easily soak up damage with the right build, armor, runes.
So my team build consists of ME(100B war/tank)
2 RoJ/Protection monks.
1 Life Sheath Monk.
then just take Alesia, w/e else.
Flag heroes, get bow, pull, ball, soak up damage, Micro heroes RoJ, Watch enemies go boom.
The only group that I have had problems with is that insanely tough group in Scoundrals Rise. yet he, his group still went down.
If you play melee I'd suggest doing something simular too this. If a caster or W/E then have fun.

Another hint: These mantle come with different builds each time. Sometimes you are unlucky and they have a combo of builds that suits perfectly to ruin your team. Try again and they will spawn with new builds that you may be able to defeat.
An example: Yesterday I did Lashona HM H/H with my nooby monk. It went fairly easy.
After that I tried Riverside assasination nm with the same HH team. I had give up defeating the second last mob in front of the final boss. Regardless how much I pulled and flagged, the same thing kept happening: My caster heroes were bathed in sandstorm and churning earth while I had scourge healing cast on me. I tried again with slightly altered team setup and then I had no major trouble.

I dont have a problem with enemy AI, but I do have a problem with my Hero AI being inferior to enemy AI. I can understand flagging hero's if your pulling a group, but I dont want to flag everytime enemies use Meteor Shower/RoJ/Savannah Heat type AoE. I would rather be concentrating on DPS than microing H/H. I enjoy using H/H, I just think they should be a little smarter. Henchies could use some better builds and should be infused if you are. It would be nice if you have the WiK stuff unlocked the Henchies were buffed accordingly. It does all take place after the events of prophecies, so I dont understand why the Hench are still lvl 12-15, even in NM.

I'm confused why you're talking about "new" War in Kryta bars being over-powered and then going on about how your team wiped from fire imps. I'm pretty sure the imps have been there for a while.
