Skill Changes
* Overload Overload: reduced recharge to 5 seconds; changed functionality to: "Hex Spell. For 5 seconds, target foe suffers -1...3 Health degeneration. If target foe is using a skill, then Overload deals 15...75 damage to that foe and all adjacent foes.”
* Unnatural Signet (PvP) Unnatural Signet (PvP): reduced initial damage to 10...60; increased damage to adjacent foes to 10...60; changed disable effect to: “All non-Mesmer skills except signets are disabled for 10 seconds."
* Wastrel's Demise Wastrel's Demise: reduced recharge to 3 seconds; changed functionality to: "Hex Spell. For 5 seconds target foe is hexed with Wastrel's Demise. Each second while hexed, target foe and all foes adjacent to that foe take 1...10 damage and an additional 1...10 damage for each second this spell is in effect. This hex ends prematurely if the target foe uses a skill."
* Wastrel's Demise (PvP) Wastrel's Demise (PvP): merged with PvE version; this skill now functions the same in PvE and PvP.
[edit] Bug Fixes
* Fixed a bug that prevented Illusion of Pain from healing if removed early.
[edit] Miscellaneous
* Vincent Evan [Air Henchman] now uses the PvP version of Flesh of My Flesh.

Anet devs really don't play PvP, do they? This is like the 3rd time they've had to try and fix the mesmer updated skills for PvP, and they still seem to have no idea what they're doing.
fowlero
Thought that at first with wastrels, but then it doesn't stack and it ends on skill use.
Think it's more a pve directed buff than anything.

Probably wont happen, but it'll definitely be a great cover hex.

Edit- Oh my bad, I guess I didn't finish reading skill description. Not quite as bad.

I'd say...150 aoe damage for 5 energy, 3 sec recharge = gg. Two people alone could pump out enough damage for a mob in pve, and lol @ altar matches with a couple of these

It's basically a hilarious auto-cover hex now, that could end up landing on more than one enemy for 150 damage if the monks don't get to it quick enough.
cellardweller
Please excuse me while glue wastrel's demise to my WW/PI bar.
G4ymBoy
Want different skill updates (thanks for this thoigh) *cough*dervish...
Krill
These sorts of updates are more of an insult than anything else.
The Drunkard
WD damage doesn't go through SF...lame
Chocobo1
Gud balance guys herp de derp I'm rly coming back now!
lemming
Was taking three emergency updates to fix this really necessary?
Ghost Dog
Generic negative comment toward arena net!

On a positive note - thanks for realizing that these skills were still broken even after the other updates. Next step - if we could just get you to realize that your ideas of skill balancing are awful, maybe these skills wouldn't be the result.
20k says Wastrel's Demise will be nerfed by the mAT - my guess is the Savannah Heat style additional damage gets reduced.

hmmm just the wastral skill tempts me to make a mesmer.. must resist.... too many fugly armors....
Ka Tet
This and this and this again. At this point, I'm wondering if they've even seen any part of the game other than the box it comes in.
Cuilan
Wastrel's Demise is adjacent and really it's just 11 damage at 16 domination.
The Overload change was an unnecessary nerf in recharge. Doesn't make a difference if it's a hex, you had to decide to f' it or make sure you hit a skill.
I give up. I realize you can't make everyone happy, but Anet seems to purposely pushing away its fan base. Perhaps the mesmer update that fixed things was just to please a higher up or supervisor of some sort. Shut them up and beat them back down.

on paper, spamming Panic and WD might be a crazy mes nuke.
I'm wondering if "using a skill", in terms of a spell, means casting must be successful, or merely starting to cast it. If the spell has to be successfully cast, then Panic will stop that, allowing WD to complete.
Both Panic and WD have fast recharges, so if you can ball up enemies, that's a pretty sweet mes nuke.

Honestly, it'll probably just get used as a staple cover hex. VoR+Wastrel's, Diversion+Wastrel's, Shame+Wastrel's, etc, etc. It's going to be a bitch to cast through.
EDIT: Oh sweet Yahweh! I didn't even think about WW+WD. That's so....wrong. You're giving someone the choice between accepting 250 AoE damage or having to get diversion'd, VoR'd, Backfire'd, etc. And the recharges are both so short, the mesmer could just use them again!
Zodiac Meteor
I could go on about fail skill update. But this one speaks for itself.

I just made a quick test and honestly it's not as powerfull as it looks.

To be fair....it is pretty hilarious in PvE. Panic+WW+WD is basically PvE on cruise control, not that PvE wasn't already on cruise control....

Don't forget about Overload. It might add into the Mes cluster-mess-you-up fiasco. I am honestly trying to be optimistic about this, but it's really giving me the feeling that there will be rage quitters in RA pretty soon.
HigherMinion
Bah! They still haven't bothered fixing SF's bug, have they? Atleast pick a profession who's skills haven't been already changed ten times in the past two months. ><
locao
well i guess its hard to balance a game where u have so many combinations of 2 professions skills like gw.u fix one problem and u may be creating another and anet knows they'll not be able to balance it.i think thats the reason who drove them to make gw 2 one profession only
Desert Rose
How do you guys coming up with 250 damage? If Wastrel's Demise functions like SH it should deal 10+10, 10+20, 10+30, 10+40, 10+50 = 200 damage.

When left without being removed, at 12 dom it will do 120 damage, AoE.

I think I'd rather be diversion'd, VoR'd, or Backfire'd than take 250 armor-ignoring AoE damage.

Besides I'm pretty certain that since it ends on skill if you cast a hex removal it will won't stop the hex below it getting removed like wastrels worry. So it's only good with diversion/shame under it unless he's running veil.

Read it again (1) it's every second and (2) every second an additional 1..8 for every second the hex was active.

edit: I would assume it would function slightly different from SH, where the pulse hits on contact, rather than delayed to the end of the second. I could be wrong about this though.

WD does 150 damage (10, 10+10, 10+20, 10+30, 10+40 = 150), but everyone will use it with WW now, because together they're insane AoE damage and great cover hexes for skills like diversion.
RA is going to suuuuuuck.

probably also nice if paired with some nice kds from either an axe or hammerwar

Yay skill update shuffling. And i don't mind at all. At least we get some. Change skills until satisfied.

Since people are struggling at how demise works.
It's another packet for every second it's been active, so at 15 dom.
10 + 20 + 30 + 40 + 50 = 150
