I know a lot of you have questions about the Select Members subs and Curse Premium, so I am going to try to answer those in one fell swoop.
We will definitely not be removing your Select Members access from you when you have already paid for it. Right now we're working on a solution on how to transfer it over, so that's pretty much all I can say about that. Most of what is offered will stay the same with the possibility of adding a few things. Prizes offered may change, though! (Can anyone say beta keys?)
  • You won't have to pay for anything you already get for free. For instance, we're not going to all of a sudden deem the ability to use avatars as a premium service. I hope that alleviates some concerns you guys have with that! And like I said in an earlier post, if you have questions feel free to PM me.

well that does make things not quite so bad im just glad we dont have to upgrade to get the same things as we always have had.

another question tho: Will the site be getting a "curse" reskin? i am not sure how others feel but i perosnally like the way the site looks(im only talking looks here not functions and such). that will help ease my mind a little to know the answer to that

the 2 main things I'm concerned about is censorship, mainly the ability to disagree with mods or Anet in general (done in a respectful, articulate way), and viruses from ads.

Rules may get a tweak here and there, but that is the nature of all fansites no matter who the owner happens to be. Rest assured that all admins will be involved in that process if it were to happen.

As far as disagreeing with mods, I believe the rule is to take it to PM's, so that is definitely not going to change. Where Anet is concerned: while you are free to disagree and post such disagreements, we ask that you continue to remain respectful and follow the site rules.

Unfortunately, viruses from ads is something that can affect any site but we'll definitely keep an eye out on it. Of course if anyone notices one (even now), please report it (screenshots help!) ASAP so that we can take it out of the rotation.

nice knowing you gwg, curse is full of fail I recall about the same time GWGuru having this same thing happen. It is unfortunate that it happened to both sites. We will definitely be looking at ways to beef up security 'round these parts.

I have never heard of Curse and am open to what they will offer.
Big plus allready is that they dont delete all the posts with negative Curse experience.

We can always hope Anet will open a decent official forum. Problem solved.

Heave heard of Curse in the past, nothing negative if I remember correctly. But I've never had any personal experience with them. I'm willing to give them a shot let's see what happens.

Btw will we have to re-register for new forum accounts? I kind of like my name on the GW2 guru x)

    MY question:

Will Kattar be required to sleep with me?

or if you'd prefer to answer...

Will this result in stricter overall moderation?

You guys had me at "beta keys". I guess we'll hear more details on that at the GW2guru site someday.

So let's see here. Curse is doing a really good job avoiding, being vague and quite frankly dodging our questions. At some points it's almost lies. Anyone else getting a sick feeling?

Let's see their unanswered questions in this thread. Because really, they are saying one thing and than in the next few sentences, flipping it around. I don't know if it's naivety on their part or just plain throwing it in our faces.

So there's all the "roundabout" and "vague" answers for you that Curse has been avoiding.

As long as we have the same rules and regulations that we have now I don't have any complaint. I don't know much about curse websites from before but new, better servers would be great and hopefully we'll have some more new faces to join along with the new mods.

You really are picking parts and turning it into more than what it is, Bruce. :\

Day to day fansite administration will be handled by JR, Inde, Kattar and myself. Curse is pretty good at having a hands-off approach to the fansites. As far as what Don was saying, yes, there will eventually BIG BIG decisions that we will need to discuss with him from time just to make sure all parties are on the same page. He is Curse's community manager, after all!

You seem to think that I meant we're bringing our own mods over to take over/replace the mods that Guru already has. This is not the case. I'm just not going to promise that a mod from another fansite isn't going to get to mod here because I think that anyone who is a fan of GW should have a chance. In the end the decision is between the forum admins.

    Quote:

I think that was confirmed in the OP! For instance, faster server and more content. We're not going to change a good thing. That wouldn't make sense. ><

Let's contradict that with this: I don't see a contradiction. Perhaps you quoted the wrong thing?

kvinna tbh dont worry about those posts so much. its jsut people that cant look themselves in the mirror everyday so they get mad and takeit out on others .
and so far id you are doing a preety good job dealing with the transition. Better then someone saying "bow down accept change or you'll be banned" kinda deal
