I haven't seen this discussed anywhere, so I figured I'd post it here.
For anyone that hasn't done the above quest yet, it's located in Majesty's Rest in a single-level dungeon complex accessed via the shrine where Rotscale and his buddies hang out. The dungeon itself re-uses the Tunnels Under Lion's Arch architecture from EotN.
I did the quest on Tuesday or Wednesday with a guildmate, and got two gold drops - one from a mob and one from the single locked chest in the dungeon. They were both inscribable - a req9 Piercing Axe, and req10 Foehammer.
Here's where it gets interesting. I assume that ANet stuck in a stealth update with the Halloween prep stuff yesterday, because when I did the quest with another guildmate last night, the drops were changed to uninscribable. This time, there were three locked chests (a lot for such a small area). One of the chests dropped a purple rune or something, but the other two resulted in gold staves - both 20/10 and both previously unavailable as uninscribable (afaik anyway). A q12 Protective Staff (Prot rather than Divine), and a q13 Illusory Staff. I only know one person that collects weirdness, so I gave both staves to Luny. But here's the pics:
I'm thinking that maybe that area is also re-using the EotN drop tables, and (theoretically at least) we might see some interesting stuff come out of there. An uninsc Darkwing Defender or one of the other EotN exclusives would be an awfully nice find. Anyone else gotten anything funky?
Update Dec. 23, 2010
The triple-mod items (shields, wands and foci with dual inherent mods plus an attached suffix mod) and other drops from the area still exist in game.
ArenaNet is aware of the issue. Regina tells us, "bugged items will not remain in the game." There is no further information from ANet on when that will be or which items will be considered "bugged."
We're currently looking into the bug in which players are able to apply 3 mods/inscriptions on items. This is unintended, and we're looking into solutions. I'll give you an update about it as soon as I have more information from the devs.
Thanks! |
Hi, everyone. I have an update from the Live Team about those bugged items. Those bugged items will not remain in the game. They're currently in the testing process for this fix. You may want to salvage the mods on those weapons before this fix goes in. Thanks.
