Yeah, it seems like the chests drop grapes most times. If you get a gold or two, consider yourself lucky.
@Shy Guy: Yeah, glitched. Inherent sale mod plus a handle.

Anyone tried to farm this area? I did a few runs and it seems The Mausoleum can't be soloable. Too many enchantments removals, like Strip Enchantment or even Signet of Disenchanment, which kills perma and obsi tankers. I'm thinking about some sort of physical tank and monk who will pump holy dmg, using RoJ, on balled foes. What do you guys think?

i guess this location has items with skins approximately like in the Shards of Orr dungeon due to undead mobs - so no something special, no dwarven axes or darkwing defenders.
imo. |

well, u cannot get Dwarven axe from locked chests in SoO, right? =)

Ok, so Frozen Ele and I were doing some runs earlier to see what kind of interesting stuff we got. Here's our theory.
Summary
The area is using weapon/skin/name possibilities from somewhere in EotN, but it's dropping inherent items instead of inscribable items.
Foci, shields and wands are glitching in that they have the potential to include dual mods (like such items always do in inherent source areas,) BUT they also have the potential to drop with an attached focus core, shield handle or wand wrapping. These glitched suffix mods can be removed with an Expert (or higher) Salvage kit, but they cannot be reapplied.
That's how folks are getting triple-modded drops. It's a possibility on any gear which is normally not moddable at all in inherent versions: wands, foci, and shields.
It makes no difference if you go out in HM because upon entering The Mausoleum you will always be in Normal Mode. (no HM version of this map.)
Details
We did not find any triple-modded drops on our runs, but we did find multiple examples of "inherent" foci, wands and shields with attached suffix mods. In each case, the name of the item had the suffix listed, and the suffix (non-inscription) mod could be salvaged. The suffix could not be reapplied. If we tried to salvage dual-mod drops which did not have a name ending in a suffix, we could salvage only crafting materials.
Gear/items which are always prefix/suffix moddable even in inherent source areas aren't affected by the glitch, in that they're still dropping with prefix/suffix mods and a single inherent modifier.
Here are some pictures with examples.

The first item is a dual-mod gold Water Wand that I got from a Locked Chest. I then gave it to Frozen (because who better deserves a dual mod water wand,) and he discovered the attached wrapping when messing with it. Notice that, as dropped, it's named like an inscribable Water Wand with a wrapping, "Water Wand of Quickening," but the inherent HCT 20% does not start with "Inscription." When he showed me what happened to it in the trade window, you can see that the wand still has the inherent 20 HCT, and the name is now, simply, "Water Wand." He could not re-apply the salvaged wand wrapping.
Next, we have two core-skin "Idols," a purple and a blue. Note they each include a Focus Core because of their names. In addition to the cores, each one also has a single inherent mod. The same situation is going on with the gold Bone Idol to the right.
Near the bottom left, there is a purple "Jeweled Chalice" with two inherent mods. There is no salvageable focus core of valor, and the offhand's name does not end with, "of Valor."
There are two shields shown, a Crude Shield and an Ornate Buckler. Note that by the names, each has an attached shield handle. Also note that each has an inherent mod available only on inherent gear (no inscription counterpart,) the Armor vs. undead.
Two more wands are shown in the lower right, a gold text "Golden Pillar" and a blue text "Blighted Rod." Each has a suffix added to the end of the name due to an attached wand wrapping of memory.
None of these items has an inscription slot.
And yes, notice how incredibly smooth Frozen is when he selflessly offers to let me write all this up for both of us. What a guy!
I put together the following picture showing the list of non-core skins we got, in case anyone wants to try to figure out exactly what area of EotN this Mausoleum map is using for it's list of potential skin drops.

Crenellated Scythe
Watercrest Wand
Raven Scythe
Barrel Hammer
Bladed Recurve Bow
Caged Shortbow
Broadhead Spear
Stonehead Hammer
Forked Spear
Clouded Spear
Tribal Spear
Aureate Longbow
Crescent Staff
Hooked Scythe

I've seen runs with anywhere from one to three Locked Chests. jimbo was telling me he got one run with five chests. He also told me that it's better to click all the Elegant Sarcophagii even though it will mean you have to abandon and retake the quest because sometimes a Locked Chest spawns with the skeleton dude inside them.
Don't be a nub like me and get so distracted by the funky drops that you fail to notice you forgot to retake the quest until Frozen runs you all the way back out to Rotscale and asks, "Where's the Enter switch? Did you not retake the quest?"
I haven't seen any runs with zero chests. Perhaps there's some evil ANet dev lurking your game, Shy Guy ... and laughing.
Oh, and it's worth noting that the vast majority of chest drops are purple. At least you get NM Lockpick retention rates.

Running this for over 7 hours nonstop and got nothing worth posting (drops are very odd and cool, simiar to what's already posted, but nothing imba, nothing functionally impossible before haven't dropped for me yet). Kept 6 golds but all are merchable/borderline merchable trash, may post screenshots later.
tried a solo chestrunning build - zero chests spawned inside.
so the way to go is normal killing - usually 2, sometimes 1 or 3 chests spawn.

Superb summery Luny
The builds we were using were:
People: SoS (Luny), Water snare/damage (Me), plus we loaded up two alternate accounts that sat afk and opened chests
Heroes: Panic mesmer, HB monk, N/Rt healer, JB MM (plus a SS necro and SF ele when not using alts)
A final note is that the drop generator is making it so that the inscriptable items from EotN are dropping as if they were drops in an uninscriptable area (like Proph or Cantha); the drop generator isn't saying, "hey, make that inscription on that staff the inherent" (which explains why staves with condition inherents are dropping and staves with the equivalent to the "Hale & Hearty" inscription are not), adding an inherent from the list of possible inherents to the “new” skins.
Furthermore, the drop generator is not affecting any pre/suffix mods (Icy sword hilt, bow grip of enchanting, etc.); you can still get a swift staff of warding (plus the inherent), not just a staff with an inherent. Because the generator is leaving pre/suffix mods alone and because shields, wands, and foci from uninscriptable drop areas naturally have two inherents (and thus no pre/suffix mods), it's possible to get a wand, focus, or shield with three mods. Two of the mods are inherent mods plus one mod that's the pre/suffix mod (shield handle, wand wrapping, focus core).
Knowing what the drop generator is doing, if Anet doesn't care that we have these skins (skins which weren't previously available as uninscriptable) and just wanted to fix the stats problem, then Anet could create a script to find all wands, foci, and shields with both an inherent mod (or two) and a pre/suffix mod and then remove the pre/suffix mods (which would make the items like any normal wand, focus, or shield that dropped in an uninscriptable area). Not knowing much on programming or Anet's resources, I don't know if this is feasible, but it's an idea.
