Magik Island

I am still in disbelief on how much details you put into this drawing. This is also a special scene because Dani is not around anymore. <3
Unlucky Slayer
Awesome as always, cant wait for the next one. =)
frostkisses
wow..................this is gorgeous Magik. The background is beautiful and you did a good job making sure it didnt overpower the characters
i think thats about all im gonna say. i think the rest would come out in a drooling bumbling half sentence...
So nice to come back and see some finished work <3
Being sick is a pain >.<

still needs a lot of fixing, this is the second try actually, since i tried with Asian eyes yesterday and that was a one big fail :S i also like this palette better, it has more pastel feel to it. So far just wip, ill upload video files when i finish the whole picture (and im hoping to set photoshop to work properly while recording, if not, then only painter part will be recorded and uploaded :3 )
also, video with painting "winds of change" is finished, but i won't post links here since i couldn't upload them on yt (thanks to my connection >_< ) so if anyone is interested to see them, send me a pm and i'll give you megaupload links......
If the face doesn't turn like i want it to be, i'll redraw it again XD

I'm really liking the sketch so far! I love the slightly lonely, adventurous feel it has to it. Definitely very Pery.

Skin colour is perfect. She's looking sooo pretty. <3 Those eyes are somehow so mesmerizing, can't stop staring at them.

Who is Dani actually, that monk?
And that looks really good so far, the eyes are amazing. And keep practicing on Asian eyes, you will need to do them when it's my turn!

Those eyes... are AMAZING! They really draw the attention atm.
Thistle Xandra
oooh! I can't wait to see the video!!
Eastern Magik
@Pery yaaay, im glad you like it. I was afraid i failed with skin color, but im so glad you like it Also, i can't really see her eyes on the screens, and you didn't mentioned her eyes color, so i put some kind of green, but if you have any preferences, just let me know i can change color easily :3
@Mina *hugs back* yes, yes, silly IH XD
@IH yes, Dani is the monk.
I know how to draw Asian eyes, and how to color it, but the problem with this picture is that Perynnes skin color is dark (when you draw Asian girl you have to do different shading on the eyelids, and use really pale skin color, i did my fare share of studies on "how to" when i painted Kimi :P ). and Pery's ranger look like Crystal Kay, so i failed to balance everything on her face, so her eyes were too small for her lips
@Warvic ty :3
@Thistle i'll upload the painter 11 part, since when i record while painting in photoshop "pen pressure" doesn't work, so i can't do anything :X (and i do background/color correction/textures in ps, so i won't record like half of the entire painting process )

I agree with everyone else on the eyes. They're amazing.
Charlie Dayman
Righto, its the eyes that I think is my favorite part of your portraits. Looking really good so far, though the front of her nose could be defined a bit more to look less round.
Eastern Magik
@Drelias thanks <33333
@Charlie thanks :3 and yep, you are right, i hope its better now
heres the finished version

And also decided to do one rework of my "old" drawings found in my 1st Flight DA gallery, now i just have to decide which one

I love Perynne's piece, It's beautiful *considers future commission* ^^ And from your gallery I think 'Sand' or 'Water Djinn,' leaning more towards Sand. I love the exotic look to her, I think there's a lot of potential in her imagery, there's a story to be told in there somewhere
Ravenhawk
She looks beautiful. I love the landscape and the pinkish hue gives it a feminine touch but she looks like a tough girl at the same time. Must be the determined look in those pretty eyes.
I love the flying blurry petals too *_*

Thank you soooooo much! I love it! <3 She's looking really beautiful and serene, and I just can't stop admiring the background. It suits her so well.
Thank you again! I hope to get ingame as soon as possible so I can properly pay you for this.

She's gorgeous and I love the background and petals falling! I can't wait for the video although that stinks you couldn't get all of it D: !
Is there a reason you use different programs when you do a piece? I've seen a bunch of other artists that seem to do that, too, and I was curious why

@Skiasca thanks, but i think i won't reopen commission again (I got like 10 more people asking for commission after i closed them D: )
Yeah, i was actually thinking about Sand too, but i have plenty of time to decide i guess
Thanks Mina
*hugs Perynne*
@Thistle thanks
yes, it really does *cries*
Well, i started to use 2 programs after seeing some amazing art of Katarina Sokolova-Latans'ka (she was my main inspiration to actually start with digital art in the first place ). At first i was like all other digital painter beginners, though that photoshop is better, but the truth is it's better to combine two programs to get better results. I can see a lot of people say how painter is too complicated to use, but its not really, its actually pretty easy. With photoshop you can load 1000+ custom brushes and still won't find the ones you need, with painter you already have more then enough brushes which work really nice for painting faces (Oils brushes for eg.) . I also find blending to be much easier in painter then in ps, even without the use of blender brush (which is good for blending smaller areas and adding texture). Painting eyes, eyelashes, skin, hair, lips also in painter. When i finish with character, i use photoshop to add textures, its much easier to do that in ps, because burn/dodge tool has 3 levels of highlights and shadows unlike painter. Also, color correction is better to do in photoshop (because of the "adjustments" options, and one of my favorite option for color balance "Variants"). You can control every color found on the picture and i like that. Also, i find painting background much easier in photoshop then in painter...

Oh! I had to look Painter up and didn't realize it's a Corel product :O That makes more sense! I thought it was something very specific that you were using since I didn't realize you were referring to it in the way people now say CS# when talking about Photoshop.
I really like the way you use oil brushes btw!

Aww, shame to hear you won't be opening commissions again.
Perynne's ranger looks lovely! Strong, independent, yet serene... Just as a ranger should be.

@Drelias sorry love and thanks, im glad you like "Winds of change" (when i named it that why, i was clueless that the Canthan part of GW Beyond will be called like that XD )
Anyway, after couple of hours working on a piece for Slayer, got really tired of cleaning that sketch, so i went on and practiced landscape a little :3

I understand the reasoning, and I'm just being greedy. xD I do love my picture of Illharess.
The labyrinth is really cool! It reminds me of some of the loading screens. I love how many straight lines there are. It's a nifty effect.

Tommy's
Just wondering, do you always draw those guide lines?
Phoebe Poison
Eastern Magik
@Tommy actually no, divine proportion option on painter when i don't need to present sketch to the commissioner, when i don't really need any sketch (just block the colors in and add some details with hard brush so i don't forget to add them later in the picture)... And it generally works better then my "guidelines" lol, i moved her eyes like 10 times before i decided to leave them a little lower than my "guideline" shows -_-
@Phoebe haha, thanks, but i think its far from being professional :P i was just practicing perspective a little

Oh that's a pretty picture so far Magik! Just in time for Feb, the love month <3
Eastern Magik
thanks Mina, i guess you won't be glad to hear that i scraped this picture then XD
I just couldn't make it happen, her face looks nice on sketch, but whenever i try to color it, it doesn't look nice, and i tried 3 different palettes before i switched to b/w >_< the more i work on it, the worse it gets idk if other artists have this problem, its like an art block for only one picture so i abandoned this and made completely different sketch, with not so much details on it... And i already feel better about it, and found perfect colors i'll use for it :3
heres the crown wip:
