Good yokes all around. Guys, don't go superfanboy over this poll. It looks like they had less than 10,000 votes which makes it completely meaningless (considering that 5+ mil people play WoW and between 50-200k people play GW)
Aycee
Woooo lets go GW
Celestina
To be honest, I find that suprising o.o

Also, Eye of the North is Best expansion of the decade, and Guild Wars has the best community (as voted) Edited main post with this I missed the first time through.

AND Best MMO Community AND Best MMO Expansion!
I also think it's very significant that ArenaNet didn't even show up on the "Worst MMO Studio" chart at all, though NCSoft did (as it did on the Best list) - which seems to indicate that while some people are dissatisfied with those who distribute GW, they're pretty happy with those who develop it.
Given how long GW has been out, and how long it has been since there's been a new title release in the GW universe, I think this speaks volume about the high quality GW offers players.
Congratulations GW!!

Sure, this has to be taken with a grain of salt, but still, the majority of 10k compared with the amount of people who both play Guild Wars AND care about these sites and polls says something about the results.
StormDragonZ
This can only mean one thing...
More costumes!
More costumes!

Just because a sample is small, doesn't mean that the data from it is not reliable/valid. You have to show why that specific sample chosen is not representative of the greater population.
DigitalFear
This surprises me.

nice. couldnt beleive it. deffiantly glad i stuck with this game then

While I'm glad for them and especially in the begining they did do alot of things right. I would say their recent behavior should have taken them out of that spot.
But I will be happy for them I spose. Although Im wondering how the RED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GO we got best community? Am I really that awesome that I make up for the rest of yalls.

The results are gathered from a public poll. That is in no way valid.

I'm surprised that The old Republic was more anticipated than Guild Wars 2. If the majority of people who took part in the pole selected GW to be the best MMO of the decade, and with the way Star Wars MMO's turned out in the past... er..doesn't make much sense.

ToR being made by a world renowned studio(most of the general gaming populace thinks ncsoft makes gw) and the fact that it is the Star Wars franchise makes a ton of sense as to why it is so anticipated.

Though the stuff that Bioware is doing to TOR is turning a lot of hardcore SW fans off of it. My entire roleplay group was planning on getting it; now none of us are even considering playing.
(and personally, I think Bioware makes garbage games, but that's just me)
Also, SWG was ruined by people whining they wanted to be Jedi, so that was added to the game. Tons of Jedi, which the game was not balanced for, in an era where there were no Jedi...yeah.
Anyway, anything like this is going to be opinion-based, and nothing but. It's not less valid than any other award-type thing, which are all popularity contests when it comes down to it. Quite pleased that GW beat out WoW, though.

GW didn't beat WoW, the fact that any of you think this poll is valid in any way is hilarious to me.
Karate Jesus
I lol'd...and sadly, wouldn't be surprised.
I almost died laughing today when a fanboy GW friend of mine said that he felt alienated from Anet due to the increase of costumes.
But that's for another thread.
Oh, and to be on topic: Blah, blah, invalid poll due to small sample size.

I'm very glad to see that a lot of people voted. I expected them to get around 500 voters.
Congratulations to ArenaNet; five years old and the awards are still arriving.

6.5 million wow players were too busy playing the new expansion to care about voting.
gremlin
Its a pol not an election total numbers do not matter much since pols tend to sample a small section of the population and then extrapolate from that.
It all depends on when and where the pol was taken and typically they are done from a magazine.
If the magazine or community is pro a particular game that game is likely to do better than average.
Since wow has far more players that GW if you polled all the wow and gw players then wow would always win, they have more votes.
Pols never do that its too difficult.
It seems a lot of gw players thought enough of the game to choose it.
Maybe they should do a poll of only those who have played all the games as they should be able to form a better opinion.
Count me out though I will never play a game with a monthly charge.

Just do EVE , WOW and GW , but thats apples and oranges and durians , i'd pick durians over anything else.
Bandwagon
Not to pick on you, but:
Are you blind to the fact that WoW has been generating a lot more revenue and commercializing more aggressively then GW could ever hope to? For the amount of money that WoW has been using and generating its been a much more efficient business then the GW franchise, and the number of active players over the period of this decade between the two games support this.
Or the fact that the poll was PUBLIC (anyone could hop on), and limited to only 10,000 voters? If GW was the most impressive MMO of the decade, I sure as hell would want some proof that the data generated constitutes that claim (IE: they gathered this data over a period of time, I would expect this since its' "THE GREATEST MMO OF THE DECADE!".
Its more then opinion, there is truth in it, and a lot of people who at least took part of a statistics course (or even pre post secondary statistics, so long as the course covered what constitutes a poll with valid data) will realize this result means effectively nothing.
PS: I am not a WoW fanboy, neither did I jump the GW bandwagon.

Even if World of Warcraft obviously has more players than Guild Wars, this poll shows that the gamers who visit this site prefer Guild Wars to WoW.
Personally i hated WoW, but of course this is just an opinion, go GW!!
a lil upset that Shaiya didn't even show on any of the graphs, but oh well

I think I missed out on some character customizations and weapons if most of those people have GW avatars.
HKO did a lot worse than I thought it would! The game was horrible (yes, I'll admit that I tried it for 5 minutes... hopefully I didn't end up on some sexual predator watch list just for installing it) but it sounded like it was going to get a lot of votes from this crowd.

With the number of responses that seem to elevate Anet even higher in their fanboi dreams, a more accurate poll would probably reveal that GW has some of the most naive fanbase imaginable.

Star Trek and Guild Wars are good votes.
Star Wars and WoW are bad, bad votes. Bad voters, bad, bad voters. I'll have to use the water spray bottle with you, bad voters!
They said Guild Wars', not Guru's. All kind of evil trolls, mindless farmers and greedy powertraders lurk around here, so it's like the slums of the community.
It's a common and unfortunate side effect of a big population. The more people gather in one place, the more 'scum of the earth' goes there too.
There are many, many, many more community sites, and most of them have order and good people willing to help, being like... that nice village in the countryside with people that say "good day" when they see you and without people that have skeletons in their basement.
Well... those villages either grow into cities or end up as empty ghost towns, but they are nice when they are in their 'prime'.

what the hell are you talking about? This game has so much better community then every other game I tried!
Others are FULL of them, on every corner, shit talking every sec, every thread, every other post!

Best MMO, sure.
EotN best expansion? Wtf, I'd rate that campaign at the bottom.

People see WoW footage on TV on go wow that seems like an awesome game, which WoW is! For GW they actually have to stumble upon it before they are aware of its existance.
I have played WoW for 8 months, I still like GW more, if that makes me a fanboy, good!
Cuz I am.
