If GW were pay to play, I'd never have tried it. That being said, for a game with no monthly fee's, we've been given a decent amount of content for 6 years.

I personally am happy with the way things are. I know most people aren't, and seeing the lack of humans in a lot of outposts saddens me. Rewind time to 05/06 and you couldn't go to ANY outpost and find it empty. Droknars forge was the place to be.

Things change, people change, games change - it's inevitable. Some people handle change well, some people don't.

Prophecies is still my favorite campaign, though I usually start new characters in Nightfall, just for the hero support. Prophecies is the only campaign where I'll bother wearing my headphones, just to hear the music. Literally, when I leave Prophecies, I take the headset off, and play the game in silence most of the time.

I'm an average gamer, and I feel Anet has catered me well.

this is also my favorite MMO aspect of GW. I like the game because I love all the exploration, story, and build theorizing. I like that it's all optionally solo-able. But as far as MMOs go, I love that GW has no grind for anything that makes you more powerful. So it's casual friendly. I love how it doesn't take long before I'm level appropriate for basically all the content in the game. And the parts that are harder are overcome by better builds and execution, not by higher levels or superior gear.

Every time I see new info on GW2, I cringe. It looks catered to the more typical MMO market. Maybe that's better for profits since that market seems to be huge, but it leaves GW fans without a sequel. Level ups throuh the entirety of the content? Why? The content can't be more challenging except via level scaling? Accompanied by unending gear-ups and clown outfits unless I pay to tailor the style? Expensive. Multi-player only dungeons? Guess I'll never see those. Forced to walk everywhere or pay a fee to warp? Lame. Enduring morons all over the place just to explore the world? Double-ugh. Minimal choice in piecing together skill builds because I'm too stupid to do it right? Insult me more please!

I'd rather pay for more content in GW1. That game has a better style of play for me, personally. Casual. Solo if I choose so. "Pause" any time I need to. No pressure to grind for power....

I think they're doing a great job. GW is probably one of the only games I always end up coming back to.

I can safely say that everyone disatisfied with the current state of the game is just looking towards the past with rose colored glasses. Well no shit they can't make a 5 year old game give you the experience you first had as a wide eyed noob entering presear ascalon for the very first time

Even if they added new content on the scale of the entire factions campaign every single week you'd get bored, and say something like "OH BUT ITS JUST THE EXACT SAME THING BUT WITH DIFFERENT ENEMIES AND MISSION MECHANICS AND SKILLS". Go outside come back in a month you'll enjoy the game much much more trust me (and life in general)

But yeah, I'm sure that their are a lot of valid complaints out there, regarding specifics, but this "EVERYTHING IS BROKEN BUT B4 EVERYTHING WAS AWESOME" is mostly a load of crap. C'mon guys A-net isn't you're personal happiness syrine. And that wiki rant...geez. That guy is nuts.

agree 100%.

the more i hear, the more discouraged i get, and i've been saying all along that they are going to screw gw2 up by making it more like all the other mmo's instead of picking up where gw left off and going from there.

The biggest things they did wrong as far the basic design of the game is they got too ambitious and didn't define each class well enough. Every class should have something useful that only they do exceptionally well. My main, rangers shouldn't even exist... Jack of all trades, great at nothing.

Too many skills. You can't balance a game with this many skills. Too many elites that shouldn't even exist.

Too many armor and weapon combinations. Look at all the ones that are not used 99% of the time. Not the actual skins since most people love the choices, the mods.

Specific armor and damage vs each specific type sucks since there are way too many types.

Armor/weapons vs should be against all conditions or all elemental or all physical or all monsters or all humanoid creatures or undead. Keep it simple. People have several sets of armor, shields, weapons that just clutter up inventory the majority of the time.

Besides the basic premise, which is forgivable since they wanted to make a great game... Where they RED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GOed up the most is they introduced grind into the game that wasn't supposed to have grind. They added it and we didn't complain enough cuz they added more and more of it. 10 million. 10 thousand. 160 thousand. We know these numbers because we grind for those numbers. PVE's stopped playing the game years ago. Now you grind each toon so you can run some build that will get nerfed and do it all over again with the next class they buff to even out the unbalancedness of it all.

No game is perfect, and GW has its share of flaws like any other game. I'm relatively happy with most of the game. What keeps me playing, despite having nadda in PvE to play grind besides doing it again on another character/account, has little to do with what GW has to offer though.

Sure, I love the armor and artwork, and I adore the setting. But GW is still based on skill (or at least being competent enough to assemble a working bar). I never have to party up with 4 (or 19) screwballs I don't like and expect to cause the party to fail. I never have to wear armor that I think is the ugliest thing in existence because it happens to have the best stats. I don't have to grind for newer and uglier armor every patch. There's not one exact gear set that is statistically hands-down on top of all other gear. Healing (my party role of choice) never involves standing in the back of the party pressing 1 (macro) button over and over with nigh-unlimited mana, and only targeting a bored/drunk/high tank.
If I decide to spend a little time in PvP, I will never ever get mauled without a chance by someone else for no reason other then he has the top PvP gear set and I have (any level of) PvE gear and/or I lack the ability to obtain competitive PvP gear since I do not PvP with any frequency.
While there are dailies in the game, they are on a long enough cycle to not become hellishly repetitive. The dailies in the game are not the only way to obtain faction with various groups. Nor am I ever forced to group with anyone else to do 'that dungeon that nobody likes or wants to do' to gain faction with X group.
So when you complain about GW, remember why you're here. And not on WoW, one of its million clones, or something worse.

My biggest complaint about GW is by far customer service. Now, they're fairly covered for reporting and banning jerks, bots, and spammers. But their #1 job should be account security and restoring hundreds or thousands of hours of hard work lost due to circumstances beyond the player's control. I mean hacking. Sure, there's the morons that bought gold or whatever and told them their password. They deserve it.
But when accounts are being legitimately hacked, and all Anet has to say is don't tell anyone your password... I think they're seriously under performing here, and ignoring a serious issue. For all the people they have focused on GW2, if you got hacked and lost everything in GW1, and the support did nothing, would you pay for and play GW2 or whatever else they come out with? I would not.

I'm pleased that they're still putting out new content and as a free game, I happen to think that the store with the costumes is ok, a change on my stance from 5 years ago.

I do appreciate the excellent customer service I have gotten, but I did a lot of the work myself, in restoring my account once I was hacked.

I am disappointed by the lack of real security features and recovery options. I don't think that the input of a character name is really 'secure'. Tons of sites require you to supply an IGN, wartower, for example, and gwg auctions which is over the curse network might I add..

It's just not reasonable.

They're doing great with what they have. Stumme knows the direction he wants to go and gets it implemented well, even if you disagree with the direction itself. I hope he has an authoritative voice in Anet's future endeavors.

That being said, I expect Anet management to drop GW1 like a rock after WoC is done and the hype has died down. Although I'd love to be proven wrong and see a NF version of the GW:Beyond content.

Personally, stuff in Cantha doesn't interest me anyways.

Anything that ANet does for the game now will never be enough until they quadruple the size of their Live team. This has been true for over two years. Good moments here and there can not excuse blatant disregard for entire sectors of the game.

get more work done? To me, the solution is simple. To them? I don't know.
The ONLY thing I can see that's preventing them from doing this is how much
it costs to pay each new person as opposed to making the current ones work overtime.
I agree with what you are saying but I would go even a step further. A-Net doesn't need to hire any more people. A-Net has HUNDREDS of people at their disposal that are willing and able to work on this game for them. A portion of those people are members of a secret society called "The Test Krewe" that A-Net seams to completely undervalue. There are many more like them who can't get into the test krewe because of how exclusive of a society it is. The fact of the matter is, A-Net is simply unwilling to work with its fan base for reasons that are unknown to me... which leads me to believe it is just their arrogance that is the cause.

I would appreciate it if somebody would enlighten me on why it is A-Net doesn't give the Test Krewe, and players like them, more power to make suggestions regarding balance, and actually do something to implement those suggestions.

Corollary 1: My knowledge of the current relationship with A-Net and the Test Krewe comes from unnamed members of the Test Krewe that claim A-Net listens to their suggestions, but systematically refuses to implement them without reason. As far as I'm concerned, the fact that Test Krewe members would express an opinion of this nature so openly really emphasizes the disconnect between A-Net and its consumers.

Corollary 2: The members of the live team are NOT members of the GW2 team... perhaps for a good reason. You can decide what that means.

Note: the parts regarding "the secret society" was a joke... I wish there was some secret society conspiracy that would explain the horrific skill balances though. Unfortunately, no theory has been proposed leaving me to only come to the conclusion that the live team is hurp-a-durp.

Though the point is the diference between useful and non useful content.. Obviously , what the game needed was a major PvP rework and they only gave a few more rewards in places , that's all. This meet however 1 major problem : people who're satisfyed with anything vs players ( old ones usually ) who are right to believe that what they add is just boring and too repetitive...

With recent updates ( i.e those 20 quests + skill balancs ) plus what i played from gw2 demo , i wouldn't be surprised if the game was axed more on PvE hack and slash.. That's not an especially a bad point , but in my opinion that's not what old guild wars players would expect....

I think it's doable with the current "live" team. I mean a lot of ppl already told them whats wrong. These dervs make this game rly unpleasant.
I don't buy costumes but I'd buy some if it would help them make pvp more enjoyable (faceroll on keyboard is not fun)

I started playing GW and WoW upon their respective releases and a year ago I left WoW but I'm still playing GW. For me this game has far more longevity and entertainment value for my personal tastes and I have a lot of great time playing with my friends and alliance members.

I'm sure a lot of people have valid complaints about this game, but me, I have none. After 6years of playing this game, I still don't. I'm actually enjoying my quest to Gwamm, I still have fun doing ZMs, ZBs, & Wanted. I still enjoy playing with people who help make this game fun for me. So for me, Anet's doing a good job.

actions taken or missed in the past are a moot point.

in the future they need more communication. when's the last time a CR posted something (anything)? 1 day before maintenance? and prior to that?

more communication, more advanced warning/notification of ANYTHING (server downtime, weekend events, bug fixes, etc). i realize the "live team" has been reduced in size but, correct me if i'm wrong, isn't the CR dept NOT part of the live team?

oh, and errors in the automated announcements (ie random holiday event start/end time, etc) being mistaken for over 2-3 yrs...same error.....is pretty sad.

Are you sure the economy isn't a part of why you quit WoW.I can't see how GW can have more longevity then WoW seen as WoW is massive, it has thousands of quests getting to max level takes a while and even when you get to max level its gonna take you a while to get great equipment.

If you want to say that WoW didn't keep you hooked enough to warrent paying for it in this economy that I can believe.

Personally If I had the means to pay for WoW right now I would say Screw GW1 I'll be back when GW2 is out. There is nothing big that they have done that would have made me want to stop playing WoW to come back to GW1.

Nope, I had crap loads of money in the game on all of my toons, got rare mounts on all of them, I even achieved Warlord status on one of them as well. After a few years I just got bored of the game, my only real intent on that game was to beat Arthas and I did so on Heroic Mode even.

I can't really accurately tell you all the reasons I quit, for the most part I don't really know why myself. But I'll tell you this; GW has that Xfactor than WoW doesn't for me. GW connected with me, it wasn't feeling like a chore logging on day in and day out to do your daily run. It was always fun to log on and find groups for the day's Z stuff, hell might run into some interesting people.

I wish we can go back to a time where skill updates were monthly, less bells and whistles and more fixing bugs and problems, no costumes that have errors.... Anet's goal has seemed to focused on, making titles easier, adding new items, making micro-transaction products, and mass lengthy overhauls on classes that more often than not are more unbalanced than what they started with... It seems that there procedure for this seems to be think of a random idea and test it instead of mathematical considerations that should remain consistent across all classes... that consideration seems to have changed and it shows in classes that have not seen a skill update in years... IE Warrior, Para, and Ranger classes most notably.... I guess as a final statement, Anet is not doing as good as job as they used to.... But for a team that is undermanned and using volunteer testers its not to surprising they pale vrs Anets previous support teams. One thing i think john has done well... with exception to hearts of the north... has produced great playable Lore with the GWB content...

Becoming a grind fest once the campaigns are done is a big problem though in my opinion, especially if you consider that almost all PvE content we got after was about grinding and doing the same over and over....

Normally , it's all about what's aside from campains , which is competitive missions and PvP, and it's not like they did a great job ( overall , PvP would probably be better if they didn't do anything post 2007 ( even some will argue post 2006...))

All problems are about PvP in my opinions , especially because they never knew how to take right decisions, which questionned about whether they really played the game or not... Anyone can ust try to PvP on american hour-morning euro and see how fun it is to only be able to do RA...

For one you should take ideas from the fan base with a grain of salt, inscriptions are an example.

As for perfect balance it is very hard to do but not impossible, you don't even need perfect balance just near perfect and that's damn good enough.

Grind is essential to keep the hardcore players busy. Even WoW's hardcore players burn through 85 levels and top tier raids very fast. For Guild Wars they had to add grind titles to keep people interested.

I am of the approach that if they hadn't done a thing with the game over the past two years, it would be a better game now, which is also how I have felt about the game's support over the last 5+ years.

I actually like what A-Net has done with GW. They added alot of content, and then some. With that said, I know that they don't have the staff like they used to, but overall I think they have done a pretty good job trying their best to keep their long loyal GW players happy. Nothings perfect, and never will be, I am quite happy with what A-Net has done, and out of the 5 years with GW, and I still play it, and very much enjoy it.

I have never had a techinal issue with GW, ever.

Agreeing. Almost every update we had past heroes removal from PvP was a disaster and showed their lazyness . Formats being more and more inactive , metas getting worse and worse... Just compare RaO's to dervishs and bspike to invoke spike... it says enough ...

But well , all the point is to know whether they want people to understand that gw2 will be about PvE and to say bye bye to the PvP we used to know...

What people fail to understand is that when you have an MMO, balance is about as rare as snow in Hawaii.

This is one player, ranting about the game. Yet, how many people enjoy the game? A LOT.

Although I do agree that it's a bit fishy how Anet claims they want to kill grinding and have titles that are just ridiculous, I don't see how they could go past it. They had to appeal to all gamers. People loved the reputation, so they expanded it, and made it useful.

As far as balance goes, it is near impossible. Take simple games, like RuneScape, when there is basically 3 classes. Haven't played the game in about 3 years, but as far as PvP combat goes, there is a triangle. Mages kill warriors. Warriors Kill rangers. Rangers kill mages. In a game like Guild Wars, you have a decagon instead of a triangle, and ends up looking like the star of david. Assassins kill casters. casters kill melee. Melee kills assassins/rangers. Rangers kill casters. Problem is, Anet then decided to make every class able to solo. Assassins can kill everything. Mesmers can kill everything. Warriors can kill everything. And so on. They screwed up their decagon.

Anyways, to sum up my opinion on his thoughts...

1 - Attributes. Still very useful. Some don't need attributes, but generally every skill has a reward and a consequence or risk. Be it energy, cooldown, or casting time. I generally use skills that require attributes. I don't really see much of a problem with attributes.

2 - Time Constraints. Games that require any grind take time. Might as well complain about grinding. As far as them working on their games, I see them putting lots of effort in them. I've played since release, and every campaign (minus EOTN) looks like they've put effort and time into it. Games being played by a handful are different than being played by a world-full. Every MMO is never the same as when it was released. Look at WoW. Look at RuneScape even. Is he seriously complaining about NF and Factions taking too long? I got guardian of cantha in about 3 hours. The primary quests weren't that long either. Polished games are meant to take time. Nightfall and Factions were fairly polished. They had bugs, they had inbalance, but they added entertainment to the game. Much worth it.

3 - Community Relations. I've never come across seeing someone banned for saying "butt". Never have, likely never will. As far as customer service, Anet has been the best. They've been better than Blizzard, been better than Jagex. The only thing I hate that Anet is doing is keeping players in the dark with GW2. We've seen gameplay and all those goodies, but the "When it's ready" is going to make people go insane. Already has for some people. But Anet cares about its community. My guess is this guy got banned and is ranting? Saying they don't care about their community is a flat out lie, and when I got to that point in the article, I stopped taking the guy seriously to be honest.

4 -Game Balance - read above.

5 -Grind/Playability

under play-ability, both are BS. Under grindables, I agree. There is no reason a title like Drunkard, Sweet Tooth, and Party Animal should require people to grind for so much money and force players to actually try to buy the items. SS, Survivor, the reputation, and Lightbringer are all a bunch of crap. Those titles are a pain. Problem is, to get GWAMM, you HAVE to grind these titles. The last 5 titles I need are Norn, Vanguard, and the 3 consumables. Those are going to be... well... horrible.

As far as Anet doing a good job - I've been playing, so I think they have. I know they listen to their community, their changes prove that. But you can't perfectly balance a game. I agree 100% with this gentlemen here.

The only scruple I have is PvP not being updated enough, they add all this content for PvE but PvP gets left in the dust, although it's almost impossible to balance so what can you do.

you guys expect 100% balance in an MMO with endless skill combos and classes? You expect exciting new content every time from a compagny thats not charging a monthly fee and is putting 80% of their resources into a new game? that PVE (because PvP technically has no content, its 90% player driven) ) content is supposed to keep you interested while youre expecting no grind with that too? You dont FEEL like grinding toget a tittle that technically doesnt give you anything amazing?

have you ever played an MMO?

In most games 1 or 2 classes dominate all no questions asked. Arena, open pvp, arranged team pvp, the one or two dominate.

Most games charge 15$/month or you NEED to spend hundreds of $$$$ in cash shops to be able to compete on the lowest level. Thousands, to compete on the highest. And this is the content they offer:

New PVE content? You mean a new area (different layout, maybe a different color of grass, that's about all) quest that requires you to kill 5000 mobs to get a laughable amount of gold or a crappy/invaluable item? that's what most other MMOs offer to someone who doesn't want to spam LFG all day long. Then theres the epic raids etc, but they need the......... 2 dominating classes. The others just sit there and use the same 1-2 skills they have to damage the boss or heal the groups, some do more damage regular auto attacking then using skills.... they don't use skills. They might as well just start attacking the boss and go grab some Starbucks.

Titles? most other MMOs have none, but to satisfy your grind urge feel free to kill 2 million of the same mob to hit level 83 and get your next skill. did i mention you cant get that skill without killing 2 million mobs between lvl 82 and 83? I am dead serious too, no exaggerations. In Lineage 2 you need about 3 billion Xp to go from level 82 to 83, when you solo each mob gives from 20k to a max of 500k. The 500k xp mobs is the very very difficult and elite areas where you need 9 characters (your own 9 accounts) to support you out of party s your main could get ALL the xp and not share/split.

You want to join a decent clan/guild? See ya in 5 years when youre lvl caped with top gear, then reapply.

You are willing to settle for an average clan? Youll party with people maybe every 1ce a week, otherwise you will solo. to Solo you need more then 1 account of your own. Preferably at least 5.

PvP content? other MMOs almost FULLY rely on the player base for that, the strong classes in PvP (the 1 or 2 that dominate) will 2-3 hit most others using only 1 or 2 skills. the other weaker classes will spam every skill on their bar of 50 skills and will still get 2-3 hit no matter what they do, because the string guy played for 6 years and has the best armor set with the best upgrades to it. How do you get those? Kill 5 million mobs, maybe youll get 1 piece of the 100 you need.

Consumables to use cost more then what you can make from the mobs you kill. Most of the time, unless you want to fight without and want to claw your eyes out. Of course you can also try to run the same dungeon/instance over and over and pray to Abbadon you get something valuable.. one day.... maybe on the 200th run....

Heroes? Those are called bots in other MMOs, people pay for additional accounts to be up, to be able to have at least some support available when clannies/friends are not online or are not willing to play something that does nothing but buff the same buffs every X minutes. They also end up banned at some point and the poor guy who wanted buffs needs to buy an account and level a new buffer to level 85 to be able to play his main damage dealer again.

custumer support? have you ever went through the hell-fire of a support ticket from NCsoft GMs? I will not go into support from the free games where GMs dont speak english and have never graduated High school

unless you would enjoy what i listed above you should feel blessed GW is what it is.

No.. what I expect (well not since a LONG time now.) is regular updates that aren't so incredibly terrible it makes me puke like the recent FD nerf that oooooooooooooooobviously doesn't address the actual problem, sure it's a "fix" if you want to call it that but Lol....I am just so disappointed that ANet just doesn't give a shit and they do things like this, all the more reason not to play anymore. All they gotta do is hire more people on the GW1 team I'm sure avid GW players would be down for the job all they gotta do is make an application on their website and set the requirements.

Yet they don't do this which boggles my mind, I have been patient with them, bought all their costumes from boredom and INB4 butgaizthegameisfr33 kekkeekekek, I don't care I would pay monthly if it meant the team paid more attention. Hell my ps3 has seen more playtime than ever since this OP dervish bullshit.

theres always a time for each class to dominate, i remember when nobody would invite a dervish or a mesmer in a group but would stack them with rangers to the max

(not in chronological order)

there was touchers

there was earth ele (not sure if they still exist)

there was ursan

there was MMs with unlimited minions

there was 55 tanks

there was the paragon.....

there was SF sins

there was IWAY!!!

there was thumpers

there was ranger spike

there was HH tanks

do i have to keep going? All of those builds dominated for some short time and generated an incredible amount of QQ, and there all got "removed" once they lived out their time.

None of those things are around anymore and other classes have their OP moment. At least it interchanges here and it is not "static", like in other games where one class dominated from the beginning to the end. Then the server ends up with 80% of the population playing that class and a permanent shortage of everything else. With that amount of skills 100% balance is nearly impossible thats why the power shifts from 1 class to another

stop playing if it bugs you that much and come back to check it out in 2 months, chances are the OP class will be something different. and Anet does it because they want to give each class their moment of glory, and not just keep it like a limited elite club

Most of these builds ,except one that's facerolling al PvE content ( i let you find which it is) didn't last really long and weren't really overpowered.. Can we really compare thumpers to bbwars? Can we really compare iway wars to dervs? Can we really compare bspike to invoke ?

That's pretty much what you said, but once again, i'm asking myself : what's the logic in their updates....

Do I think ANet has done a good job? No. Do I play GW? Yes. Do I get so frustrated that if I want to do anything of real note, I MUST make a specific class and specific build because otherwise I will NOT get invited into a group.

Fact is, I got Proph a week after it came out( and it shares the same birthday as my rl one) and it was great. Then Factions came out, and it was ok. Then Nightfall came out, and it was bleh. Then EotN, and dungeons, and ugh. Stopped playing for a year or so.

I have come back ONLY for GW2 and the fact I want to try to get to 30/50 for HoM. Once I hit 30/50 I will never play GW again. GW2, assuming it matches the hype, will be a good game to play, but if the same crap happens to GW2 that happened to GW, then it will not be a game I follow so fervently.

Grindy titles, which require either: 1)do the same missions several times in normal and "hard" mode OR 2)farm an area for points over and over and over again. And make damned certain if you want to do a speed clear you have the right class or else no party for you!

PvP that practically puts up a wall for new people to try. Want to RA? Codex? HA? If you make one mistake because actually learning how to play PvP is discouraged or outright forbidden then how exactly does it grow?

As for AB/JQ/FA, well, tied into HoM, the fact that luxon and Kurz titles in the HoM do not count as PvP, even though PvP is used to get faction( as well as PvE but still, PvP is a definite aspect of it) means if I want those 3 points for a PvP statue in the HoM to reduce the other statues needed to get to 30/50, either I farm zkeys, get ragequits in RA or other places because I am new to PvP and thus do not do exactly what is required at exactly the right time, or forget about that and grind more titles so I can get the points.

I find it increasingly hard to motivate myself to play this game. It is boring, it forces you to grind ( and any BS about not needing to grind for titles because they are not really necessary is just that, BS ) and the amount of elitism/ rank/ class discrimination is not making it any easier to enjoy what was once a fun game to play.

I really hope GW2 can solve some of the truly crappy aspects of GW.

This.....this is the single biggest beef I've had with PvP. It is why I stopped TA before they stopped it themselves. You can't run original builds or some "leet" jerk face will chastise you and kick. Even in RA, when experimenting with new build variants, people run their mouths and it turns me off.

It doesn't matter what you do, someone seems to always have a comment. I had a guy blow up with cries of "noob" because I used a res sig for cripes sake. PvP was supposed to be the anchoring aspect of GW, instead, it was their biggest failure.

That's an issue of the community not ANet. There is nothing they (ANet) could do to make assholes less of an asshole.

How about they acknowledge that certain builds are almost required for certain things and go from there? ANet has a source for builds that are encouraging people to be idiots when partying.

I mean, ffs, there is an exhaustive site devoted to builds to use in pve/pvp!

It has categories for everything you can think of, and is perhaps the clearest indication that aspects of the classes are horribly broken, and yet, the builds remain, people still demand builds be pinged, and God help you if you try something unique and not from pvx! Creativity is a dying species in GW.

The Community is only hindered by ANets decision to leave things as they are in both pve and pvp. Sure GW2 requires that they focus more on it, but leaving things the way they are now? Just does not make any sense.

There are VERY FEW situations in GW that absolutely requires a certain build. You're living in a dream world if you think every build should be equally effective; the concept of metagame is not something unique to GW. Once again, you don't HAVE to play certain builds but that is what the playerbase (well the ones you seem to encounter) expects of you because they want to optimize. This is not ANet's fault.

I honestly would only agree with you if you were complaining about OP shit in the higher formats (GvG/HA). From your previous post it seems that you mainly play the lower formats (RA/AB/JQ/FA) where you can still play effectively with supoptimal builds.

Documenting builds and being the final say on what stays available/deleted gives some people a huge case of USI.

Anyone who doesn't run randomway is going to want optimal picks in party selection or as close to it as possible. It's just the nature of playing in a competitive setting.
