and thanks Verene for posting the information on here (and whomever else has updated said information--and where is neo to post????)
peeps are a bit upset since it seems a LOT of gw info gets posted somehow only on the gw2 site (and we arent really allowed to post any kind of gw2 stuff here for obvious reasons--but the obverse doesnt seem to be in effect).
Hope that someone of the anet staff comes forward and gives a little more info about woc....(would really like to have a date on when its going to be released).
Verene
Neo's on a plane right now

WHAT?! Only 42 quests? Only 3 parts? Courtesy early information released on a SISTER site instead of THIS ONE?!?!
GW1 is dead, ANet is the worst, etc., etc.
Nothing, not one single thing John Stumme has done since taking over as lead has been disappointing. Not once has he failed to come through on a promise I was looking forward to. Until he violates my faith in him, I'm going to grant him that faith. And now, after I've said that several times, I can pretty confidently say he'll take the team and the content to great levels.

Ok, time to stop sensationalizing and start thinking.
The comment said 42 quests INCLUDING Hard mode.
This means 21 QUESTS WITH A HARD MODE OPTION FOR EACH.
It's not 42 quests it's 21. Twenty One.
Considering the rate of content that came out of WiK each update, you should expect each of the three parts to be a couple of large main quests, the rest are something along the lines of WiK's bounties.

I feel the need to apologize to ArenaNet and John Stumme for noticing the WoC mention in Izari's tweet. What a storm of angst. Not quite what I was anticipating in the way of an excited reception.
Well, until Neo reaches home and someone can wring some more details out of him, we are at a standstill for more facts as all the blogs & articles uploaded so far have not mentioned WoC. Thank you, Verene for your help with this.
(and nothing like being ignored by your immediate superior, cosy)

You're welcome, and thank you, Darcy, for posting this initially - I was asleep when Izari made her post on GW2G, so I didn't see it right away. Even if the reception here probably wasn't what either of us expected, at least some people were happy to see some info about WoC!
I don't believe the press event on Thursday covered WoC at all, just GW2, so until everyone arrives back home those tweets that I posted are all we have. Neo did tweet that he's working on his writeup while on the plane, so hopefully he'll have some goodies for us soon

Last I checked John isn't part of community relations and if people weren't excited about WoC there wouldn't have been the fuss to begin with. It boils down to a ongoing lack of communication which is not the fault of the players, in this case you and Verene, or the live team.
legioncg
Can't wait for this if it's as awesome as I hope it will be than, Anet will be receiving a case of Moon Pies.
Darcy
Yesssss, another result of the ArenaNet office move is that they have posted a real address and put their name on the building.

The quarreling in this thread over information distribution is baffling. Thanks for the preview.
That is only a possibility and mere speculation at this point. There are many examples of quests that may be completed in either normal or hard, with additional bonus rewards if completed in hard mode, such as the Zaishen daily quests and Wanted quests. John Stumme even revealed his intention to split quests in this manner for WoCw (source), although it was unclear(to me) if the quests would be separate for NM and HM, or just single quests with multiple rewards. I'd believe the latter is more likely.
Just for comparison, WiK has more than 30 quests including Wanted and Courier Falken.

and how rude of neo to NOT post before getting on the plane

In an interview with the German fansites, Colin (lead GW2 dev) talked about how actually seeing people playing their game and giving them face-to-face feedback brings new excitement to their work. They are getting this shot of excitement several times a year now with the demos at shows and the media visits.
I'm really glad that John & the Live Team grabbed some personal attention from the invitees. They don't get any attention from the media and their work isn't on display at any conventions. They have to wait until release day to see how the fans react.

All of cantha pretty much allows 8 hero play. Just load up 3x nec, 2x mes and 2x rits and faceroll your way to casual glory just like the vast majority of players.
But saying you won't come back cause the content is too hard for ya (hard content on GW, "el oh el") is pathetic at best |
i'll tell you 2:
1. absences (search on google works, and yes, its a form of epilepsy)
2. can't concentrate (no, its not the same as nr1)
and yes, i was gonna use those heroes, as i got tired of failing, and still want my few titles (first time i used pvx in those 6 years)
so if the game gets something nice now and then, i join for a while til it bores me again, but if its no fun to me, then i better leave right away again
we'll see, Anet has made me happy before
i just hope there's only a few HM quests and the rest can be done at NM, would be fun for me, who likes fun instead of only challenges....

Well, what we did was get into two teams of 8 for the quest we were about to do. Basically, we were working for the Ministry of Purity to clear out the sewers beneath Kaineng of the Afflicted. It wasn't some huge line of quests that we got to play for hours on end. What we got was a small taste of the upcoming content. I do have to say though, that the Ministry of Purity NPCs had some amazing armor designs (that I unfortunately do not have a picture of :/ ).

And ooooh, can't wait to see those armor designs

Well, Neo is the One and all.
Can you say if the Ministry armor is similar to samurai armor, or Chinese or something? Thanks again for the previous post.

Found some new info about winds of change....
"Oh, and to answer a point I keep seeing come up - the number of quests I threw out includes their Hard Mode versions. But the quests aren't just things like the bounty quests (go here and kill a boss, that's it.) They're all pretty fleshed out experiences, and a lot of them have an impact on the world (changing base spawns for zones after their completion, in some cases more than once.) There's also (non-mandatory) scenes hidden all over Cantha that come up after the completion of quests to help fill out the world, to make it feel more alive and reactive to the things you're doing. It's also something for the explorer types, without necessitating that you need to go to obscure locations to advance. I really want it to feel like we're putting out a significant piece of content, one that has its own story arc, and gets people really invested for the two parts to follow.
That's basically it for now, I wanted to make sure I'd expressed a proper appreciation to our fans. These are hectic times for me, in trying to coordinate the projects we're working on, supporting my team, and planning a wedding at the same time. I am thankful for every break and bit of sanity/fun that I can get. The big day is coming up on July 9th, and after that I'll be gone for two weeks - in someplace far, far sunnier than Washington. Over that honeymoon, I'll also be hitting my 6 year anniversary with ArenaNet - and I'm looking forward to many more. Maybe by then, we'll have fixed Shadowform! Thanks, melissa b, for that quote from John's wiki page. I haven't checked it since Friday.
That's some great info about WoC. I really, really, can't wait for this.
And, John, I hope everything goes well on the big day. But if anything does go wrong, just remember that it won't seem so important in 50 years. Enjoy your honeymoon and come back as restored as possible.

I hope they include samurai armor and some sort of Kimono armor for the monks
It would look baddass on men, and beautiful on women!
Sorry, I know Cantha is based off of China and all, but this is my inner-weeaboo speaking out! I've wanted a Kimono in Guild Wars for a LONG time, and the closest we ever got was Canthan armor with its detached sleeves on monks!
And come on! Wouldn't it look baddass to wield a bow or Shinobi blade with the kimono? It'd be just like in my Japanese animes!!

Cantha's actually based more on a mix of Japan and China.
And I hadn't seen that quote from John's wiki page, either - sounds awesome.
(and congrats on getting married, John!)

But I wonder what Stone Forest and Jade Sea is based off of? |

WOC is really sounding promising!

Luxon sort of based on Malaysia and South Seas area; Kurzick kind of Russian. In real world the two large areas on either side (North/South) of China/Japan.

I'm not too concerned about the costumes; I doubt it will be very "flashy" probably going to be Kurzick/Luxon/ Imperial army based. I'm more interested in the weapons and if they will go in the hall.
As far as more challenges in factions I think it wont be more challenging necessarily; just more mobs lol.

cosyfiep
new armor would be FANTASTIC!! but yeah, costumes are more likely---still cant wait.

If John Stumme is leaving for a few weeks for honeymoon does that mean we should expect Winds of Change to be released when he gets back?
