Winds of Change preview
BenjZee
I'm starting to think he doesn't like Mhenlo and Togo but prefers people like Koss and Keiran... ;( Winds of Change is cantha, i want mhenlo and togo!
Darcy
Yes, but does vacation = honeymoon?
EDIT: I'm joking, but after six years with the company, I'm sure he has more than two weeks of vacation each year.

For every working person I have ever met..yes it does.
Since the wedding is July the 9th and John will be on vacation for 2 weeks after ...I would assume he means that WoC will be out by July the 8th, which is Friday of next week.
edit was 1 day off my bad

I'm hoping this Thursday I'm leaving the country for a couple of weeks starting that morning and getting on guild wars will probably be very very slim for me.

That being said, people should see Winds of Change before I leave for vacation.

The only question that remains floating in my head now is, how will this effect Dragon Fest? Incorporating elements of WoC seems like a good way to inject some new flavor into a standard repeat event. I'm probably just thinking this because alot of us have been kicking around the idea since before CNY.
Meh.. he could get better. Or add the prefix "Ghost of" and problem solved. I'm not a huge fan of Togo myself, just saying.

A comprehensive assessment of the WoC preview was posted on GuildMag. The lack of a definite release date is unnerving, but it looks like it'll be worth the wait.
Darcy
Thank you -Makai- for that link. I'm so glad to see another article on this.
I think I will enjoy being greeted as a hero. Like Izari, I also like Factions and all of my characters have completed that campaign.

Part of me will say "Aww..." and "Ha!" if we find out this relates to Keiran & Gwen. After all, they just got married, so where in all of Tyria did they decide to go on their honeymoon?
That's right... Cantha, namely the site of where Winds of Change should occur. Of all places, they picked the place that will soon be overrun with the leftover mass chunks of flesh called Afflicted that somehow are still clinging to life after the "banishment" of one Shiro Tagachi.

The only question that bugs me is if to access WoC we MUST complete WiK+HotN on the cahr we're using.

I really hope Talon Silverwing is in the storyline somehow. He was definitely the coolest, if not, one of THE only cool henchman in the entire game!
He and Togo also have an important history together, as revealed in the BMP. And now that we know Togo was a baddass in his prime, I think it's well justified to see Talon SIlverwing reminiscent about him.
(Offtopic, but why doesn't he have an EL tonic yet!?)

I am really longing to see the de-jade-ation of the jade sea. With from some things I've read from fanday, it's going to really be awesome. Some of the new ministry people look awesome as well! Can't wait for the smecksy costumes.

Have not found out anything on the de-jade-ation of the jade sea. Maybe I just missed that. What article was that in?

There is a picture on the bottom!
Lishy
Oh glorious, the jade sea will look even more beautiful than it once did. I heart <3 Luxons and John Stummie for this :3
Arduin
I don't see anything molten in that picture, just the frozen Jade Sea cut up in blocks with fish and the little Leviathan inside.
Vilaptca
I took that as the author wishes the Jade Sea would melt.
Tommy's
When I read the melting jade sea thingie I started dreaming that the player would undo the effects of the Jade Wind (Winds of Change, wasn't to hard to think of that). Man it would be great to walk through the old Echovald Forest. I really would have gotten my hopes up if it wasn't for the fact that when the Jade Sea would melt the Luxon territories would be pretty much unplayable as long as characters are not able to swim. And though they want to link to GW2, I can't see that happening

Iuris
Well, you can see that the very bottom of the screen is submerged. Not easy to see due to the jade effects, but it's there. Try the larger image version.

That is simply the northwestern corner of Rhea's Crater, where the monk boss hangs out. It has always looked that way, and there has always been liquid water in the vicinity down in the low-lying areas.

Its not hard to see because of the jade-effect,it is the jade effect.
Iuris
Possibly. I'm afraid that being a Kurzick at heart, I don't know those lands as well. If it is indeed an existing area (I know there were a few flooded areas, I thought it was a nice touch at the tme, since the jade would keep the water from soaking into the soil) then the poster of the article actually has no source for the melting of the jade.

well, they did make a few changes to the areas in kryta when they did wik...so it might be possible that we could see more of the jade sea and less of the jade---
would be pretty cool
(and yeah...hotn was bad...I have my 2nd character almost done with it--just so I can be done with it...and I dont think any of my others will even start it--though the extra nice bow is a nice touch).

Okay, speculation. Let's go with that

jazilla
I would love to see it melt. That would also give them the freedom to craft an expansion for GW2 set in Cantha that looked totally different than in GW1.
-Makai-
Welp, it looks like it's not arriving today. Here's hoping for next week.

Hopefully the start of WoC will tie into the end of the Dragon festival.

/waterworks... DAMMIT, Stumme, I BELIEVED in a june release!
Joking. My main computer's wifi is still down, although I'm keeping my fingers crossed that the final parts of the new Machine will arrive today, so I can't really play. Well, except if I steal my father's laptop, which can play it at an amazing 800x600 resolution (leaving 50% of the screen covered with the interface...).
Anyway, I'm still really hoping that we'll see an introduction to WoC duing the festival.
Side note: I'm not sure I'd like the jade sea to melt. I may not like the luxons, but the jade sea is BEAUTIFUL!

My conjecture is that John's vacation will start on Tuesday. Thinking logically, that is when I would start mine in a similar position.
4th of July = paid holiday thus starting Tuesday you get that extra day added on to your two weeks. Also thinking about weddings and the relatives coming into town, rehearsal dinners etc. it makes sense to start your vacation a few days before the wedding is to happen.
Now, Thursday would certainly be time enough for all of this also but the coincidental placement of the Holiday makes me think that his vacation starts on Tuesday.
I could be completely wrong on this as it is all just guess work.

He's getting married the 9th and we don't know how long his honeymoon is going to be, but I wouldn't think he would take a vacation week before the wedding. He's not the bride who would have a million things to do during that week. But we just have to wait and see.
