I think they made them purple because they cannot be placed in the hall of monuments and so as not to outshine the imperial weapons that are probably coming out at the end of WoC. Plus if you read what the man who sells them has to say, he says that he's just trying to get weapons out to the general public, as per the government's orders. So really, it's kinda like he's trying to sell cheap weapons to the public for an honest day's red dot killing.

If anything the Imperial weapons will be gold and be able to be added to the HoM. It's pretty safe to assume that purple weapons aren't going to be able to be added to the HoM.

I for one am glad that I don't think less of a weapon if its font is a different color. Unless you can prove that my blue q7 AL 15 shields are any less effective in RA than my purple or gold ones, I actually prefer the blue ones because they cost less and all because of different font color in a game who's economy has ZERO bearing on my real life.
AngelWJedi
i only like gold weapons unless they are a rare skin cause its easer to resell it when i tired or it. many wont buy blue or purple weapons xD

shadeblade47
im not sure if i even understand what HE was talking about O.o how does that have anything to do with shield sets?
Arato
I hope they are dedicatable in HoM, you should be able to fill your monument with skins you LIKE rather than just "well, I need so many points, so I'll just stuff in skins I'm not fond of and never use just to get the required number" The more variety of skins we can put in there, the more likely to get things we like out of it. They won't raise the number of points you can get out of the monument.. they might just change the oppressor weapon one to "1 Oppressor/Imperial/Whispers (you know it'll come someday) Weapon"

Can anyone screenshot a Scavenger?

This really bothered me. Why are the scavengers using White Mantle weapons? They are not members of the White Mantle and those weapons are distinctly stylisticly different from something a Canthan would be weilding. It really looks out of place in game, their models are asian influenced and their weapons are these weird kinda westernised models. Why not give them access to the Canthan weapons on the loot tables instead?

Anet was lazy and copy pasted the White Mantle mobs into Shing Jea, changed their models but completely F'd up and forgot to change builds/weapon sets...
Why am I not surprised?

You know what they say about the given horse...

Actually, those weapons on the scavengers could explain some things... White mantle arming the scavengers? Just to stir up trouble? And maybe someone close to Miku gets hurt by it, and Miku seeks revenge on the arms dealer?
Arduin
Or the Scavengers scavenged Imperial weapons, but because those are not implemented yet, Anet opted to give them WM weapon temporarily.

They are scavengers... do you really think they went all the way to Kryta somehow to steal some weapons only to return to Shing Jea Island and become scavengers again?
Unless there is some link between the White Mantle and WoC (in the form of the mysterious man that Danthor was working for) and the scavengers are a part of the plot, I'm guessing they used similair coding to the WiK mobs and it was an oversite. I don't see any other reason for them to be wielding those specific weapons in Cantha.

You and I may never know.

I may be making stuff up here but wern't the oprressor weapons added to the mantle sometime into it being being made available for us later on? Though it would seem pretty lazy
Bright Star Shine
My point was that you were QQing about Factions and Proph items being "left in the stoneage" whilst Anet took a lot of the skins and gave them inscribable versions, thus completely destroying the value of the weapons except for the q8 versions. Also, I'm not gonna have this discussion again. If you really want my opinion on your silly rant, I'll redirect you to the following threads instead of highjacking this one.

I would have really liked some new weapons to put in HoM as I am still on 11 / 15, and am fed up of grinding the current content over and over again.

On an unrelated note...if you go back to that long rambling thread that just got locked we were apparently supposed to get 42 quests. By my count there are 40, and not that I'm ungrateful, but is something missing?
makosi
What's the lore behind the Scavengers' existence? I seem to have skipped by it and wiki doesn't have much info on them.
Cheers.

well, i tried it to see if its any fun, but after 2nd quest, i got bored again, and returned to perfect world again, lol
i was hoping for something nice, but i think all we get from now on, is the old stuff and these quests, which actually look like what PW has alot: quests that say "kill this kill that" (and thats something which can be boring in PW
)
as for the fans (wands), they arent that bad, and new daggers with blunt dmg are kinda fun to see, but i guess this 1st part isnt enough for me to return, sry
i also dont really like the costumes, just saying
so now i'm hoping for better stuff to show up with the next WoC update
ps. may look like i complain alot, but i just like to see new stuff which is kinda new in general, sry i sound so negative....

yep, like the fan--will probably get one. Will finish the arc with at least one character to see what the 'imperial' weapons are....then decide if any other characters want to vanquish the afflicted of cantha.

I was hoping to find some screenshots of these new weapons and stuff posted here, instead I just see a lot of bullshit and qq.

Better theory: Imperial weapons are going to be put into the HoM in the same slot as oppressor weapons (so, no additional point for putting both an oppressor and an imperial weapon in there). They don't want to spoil the imperial weapons, so they just put the oppressor weapons in for the time being since they're probably labeled similarly.

This would work except you can take a fresh character into Kaineng Center, look at Lei Jeng and see what are almost certainly the new skins. Getting those Scavengers to spawn actually requires a good amount of questing.

I don't really care what colour they are but considering how long it took them to put his out you'd have expected a little more originality rather than recycled skins, perfect weapons are hardly hard to come by, i give better junk away regularly, factions weapons are already worthless. Just disappointing. I haven't finished all the quests yet, no rush, but first impressions so far are same again, "OK is this it, why did it take so long to put out?". I hope the hype we got over this isn't relative to gw2

As for the content im enjoying it, yeah it can be repetitive and like you I feel that rehashing old skins (weapons) as rewards doesent ring of orginality but lets wait until we see the big picture before we give a final verdict on winds of change.

Sword and shield only. The NPC has to stay there and be consistent.

Considering that there doesn't appear to be a backstory on the Scavengers (for now) it doesn't seem unreasonable that something got screwed up.

Look at the oppressor weapons for a bit, see how ornate they are? with glowing animation?
I really don't think Anet is going to pass off some dull looking stuff like that as the new dedicatable weapon for a GW Beyond pack.
