April Fools
StormDragonZ
Update:
- In Hard Mode, for each level after 20, they're armor goes decreases by 8%, but health points increase by 250. For example, a Level 30 Shiro'ken Warrior now has 80% less armor, but has 2500 more HP.
- The elite skill Symbols of Inspiration has been changed to: Elite Skill. For 14...44...71 seconds, this skill becomes the Elite of target foe. Elite spells you cast use your Fast Casting and Inspiration Magic attributes combined instead of their normal attributes. So if you have 12 in each, the elite spell used has a 24 attribute level.
- The PvE-only spell Smooth Criminal allows you to steal the weapon being used by an enemy. Split for PvP: Allows you to steal an opponent's weapon or armor piece.
- The elite skill Aura of Faith is now Non-Attribute and lasts for 30 seconds.
- Whenever a Mursaat uses Spectral Agony on you, if you're not infused, you suffer an instant -60% Death Penalty and your party suffers from Deep Wound, Weakness & Cracked Armor permanently until you leave the area or party wipe.
- Added a new emote: /annoyed. When entered in a town or outpost, everyone immediately points at you and laughs.
- Added a new condition: Oblivious. Whenever you take any kind of damage, your health remains the same. When your HP would normally reach zero, you don't fall down and remain standing with a question mark over your head.
- Added a new green weapon: Stale Bread. It's a sword, but deals blunt damage. Damage +33% (if health is below 25%), Health +100 (if suffering from two or more conditions). Drops from Oola's Chest in the dungeon Oola's Lab & the Mountain Heart Chest from the dungeon Heart of the Shiverpeaks.
- Added 6 new Polymock Pieces that drop from all dungeon chests. They are: Lich Polymock Piece, Shiro Polymock Piece, Varesh Polymock Piece, Disc of Chaos Polymock Piece, Glint Polymock Piece & Gaile Gray's Halloween Frog Polymock Piece.
- All matches in Jade Quarry now go to only 3 points instead of 10. Earn 1000 Imperial Faction per point won on your side. If you win 5 matches in a row, your entire party earns 4000 instead of 3000 Faction.
- All matches in Fort Aspenwood now last 2 minutes. All gates are open and amber has been removed. Kurzicks: Earn 150 Imperial Faction for every 2 seconds Gunther is alive. Luxons: If you kill Gunther, earn 3500 Faction.
- The skill Ward Against Melee now deals 30 damage per second whenever a melee foe would enter the ward. When this skill ends, all allies with 50% or less health gain +1% Morale Boost.
- You may now challenge Dhuum inside The Underworld by only needing to complete the quest Restoring Grenth's Monuments. Any other quests completed now gives 1 Ectoplasm in the reward.
- Whenever you report a player for anything, gain 1 Imperial Faction.
- Bug Fix: This update was reverted back to before it was implemented.

Well, the problem is that it truly has to be a joke for april fools spirit.. Last year, it was a little joke because of the commando, but it looked like content that lasted a few days, so i guess that's why many were disappointed. I think they shouldn't hesitate making things completly diferent, even in PvP, as it would last 1 day only..

black and white!
Do not try to adjust your screen (ok, you can try, but it wont help much)....but the asura have tripped over the cords and the pictures going out from towns are now only in black and white!! we hope to have this issue resolved within the day

According to the update build, there are preparations for April Fool's Day. I'm thinking it's going to be similar to last year. Can't imagine them throwing all that programming time away for 1 event...

Would be a nice one to actually make the prank developer updates work for the weekend

Yesterdays update did hint about it ^^
and
Looks like we might have a new Annihilator Quest. Spoofing Terminator 2 this time maybe? Being the machine and all (1070 AE is the current time in Pre-Searing)

That's what I'm thinking. Something similar to last year's Commando quest, without being a retread. I know some people didn't like the quests, but I'm impressed the Live Team goes to the trouble for us after all these years on April Fools of all occasions.
NeHoMaR
Maybe GW2 related.

usually april fools is a one day funny hahahaha thing, not an 'OHHHHH AHHHHHH' not at all funny (but way to max your title) thing.
The quests are fine--put them in for the BIRTHDAY celebration in a few weeks, leave april fools for the funny DAY.

But the thing is: Time traveling things does NOT work with the lore, as far as we know, therefor it would be rather stupid to put it in on another celebration.
As for being funny or not: That is of course a matter of opinion. Me and loads of other found last years quest very funny. And there are loads better/more efficient ways to farm rep

Showtime
Full on Ranger buff so we can know how it feels for the 1st time in years to be OP. Then the standard perma-nerf to remind us that nothing good ever lasts for our kind.

they could do this: 'In anticipation of the coming of gw2 we would like to give you a sneak peak quest,...go to embark beach and help....' would work just fine for the birthday celebration--since all they are doing with this quest is pushing gw2.

Heck yeah! I loved last years. Quests are 100 times better than just changing how your characters looks while in town.

No they couldn't seeing as time traveling still doesnt exist in Lore, therefore it would only work as a joke-quest.
MithranArkanere
Something is funny as long as enough people find it funny.
Last year's was a blast for many people, not just because of the 'free points'.
I've seen people laughing their asses off just after reading the name of the "Sky Net" skill when the annihilator golem used it.
To be fair, time traveling DOES exist in lore.
The Mists lead not only to other worlds, but to other times too.
In GW2, all PvP is reached though the mists, even world PvP, and some of the battlefields are in the past, like the Battle of Kyhlo.
Still, the annihilator quest can't be considered canon, as it has many inconsistencies, probably on purpose, and well, Commandos, and we know GW2 has no commandos.
So you could say that it's something that "we do", but that "never happened".

Of course, but you used that logic: "I did not find it fun, so they shouldnt have done it" I did the same.

lol @ all the babbies that say the GW2 holiday was their best April Fool's
I would like something to happen that borrows off of THIS game's legacy:
1) just once I'd like to see the joke skill patch actually implemented for one day.
2) have Dhuum randomly kill players and log them out (or imitate whatever the ban screen says).
If people are gonna be butthurt about getting logged out during a run or something, replace all drops with something like "Skull of Dead Man" (indicating all of the people that are getting owned)
If people can't even handle one day of great fun, they can go play their GW2 betas and laugh with eachother about last year's EPIC COMMANDO QUEST!!

I don't think stickfigures and genderbending fit in with the lore either. I think it's safe to say that whatever happens on april first doesn't need to be taken too seriously.

1) Could work but feels rather silly to do, takes time and such.
2) That would be idiotic unless it only happen in outposts.
Hard to accept that people are different than you, aye?

All bets are off on April 1st. It's April Fool's Day. Lore, Logic, Common Sense. It's all out the window. ArenaNet has some of the best, if not the best jokes in all of gaming. Here's to hoping for another one this year.
cosyfiep
right back at you on that one.
Not everyone is going to be happy with whatever they do, some people enjoy doing a quest while others enjoy character changes, some people want them to do something to pvp, while others couldnt care less if they deleted pvp altogether.....
maybe we are all wrong and its just everyone getting to look like golems this year instead of a week of a quest---
we shall see in just 40 some odd hours.

The best anet did was the one where an update happened ( few normal fixes ) and the release notes said about Ursan being allowed in pvp - and you actually had ppl in ab shouting their ursan ranks and lfg ursan - classic
chaosincarnate87
It would be a true shame if they didn't come up with something funny yet again this year and did another cop out with a quest with any sort of serious reward on a joke holiday... oh well, suppose I'm just being a bit pessimistic about the whole lot of things.
Lasai
Well.. looks like a retread of last year.
I expect a canned skill set, 1.4 mins of "oh cool" followed by several days of mindless faction grinding for most "fans" of this crap.
One day of sillyness.. that is April Fools. Not non-stop faction grinding that both overly rewards and circumvents the normal aquisition of it.
It was a poor decision last year.. not the prank itself.. but making it a faction bonanza. It ceased being a funny prank when people gained significant title progress doing it non stop.

lol, that'd be awesome, if monsters suffer the same AND being optional, with some quest or something
and it being a random flux effect when entering an exploreable area (imagine with WiK and WoC HM )
i dont pvp, but saw some through GWW
but all i'd like to see is this for 1 day, not only having that effect for april fools quests
make pve general funnier, not making whole stories again, waste of energy and time, as i wont play it o_O
but playing in pre areas with 3/5/7 heroes and lvl 20 enemies would be funny :O
then special charr bags which act like consumables and cause some kinda buff or nerf, maybe good or bad flux, lol
well, just some ideas, but i guess it'll be that weird one from last year (yea, i found it a weird happening, tbh)

wiki joke: all rangers with at least 1 point in beast mastery, will have their pets with them automatically (just made up)
another: rangers can take 3 pets at the same time by taking comfort animal, heal as one and charm animal with them (funny, but would be cool too... for now it should a joke)

Sorry, I enjoyed last years because it was a change of pace. Something we haven't seen before. I didn't mindlessly grind faction doing a silly quest. I ran it a couple times on different characters and had fun, which is what April Fool's should be about.
Logging in to find your character looks different in town is fun for about 3 seconds. Especially now with all the tonics we have already.
While many people were grinding last years quest, I also know many who came back to play it. People are done with being transformed, it's boring and not worth logging in for. A new quest, whether it rewards faction or not, is something new and exciting that will bring people back to the game, if only for a day.
