If this is accurate then we know the fate of new content regarding Guild Wars.

oh well, would have been nice if they would have tossed us a bone every once in a while, but guess with their new baby they really dont care about their older child anymore.
though it is good news that they are going to keep gw up and not shut it down soon---

no new content, but possibly new items and changes
i wonder if they still would work on their new elona content.... in a way its old now :P
maybe they group it under unfinished business
also, i think that if they got the time and resources, they will release that new elona content before really put the game on its track, by itself
and for those thinking they wont give us new items: they will, as they probably dont have the next birthday presents yet, which we will get (i have enough faith)
well, at least we know it now, and we also know GW stays online as far as i can see, cuz the guild i'm in right now, got many people thx to GW2, but also alot came back cuz they didnt like GW2
so GW takes another several years before it really starts to go down
it is inactive compared to back then, but still enough people who play for either GW2 HoM, or just cuz they like GW way more than other games (like myself)
i hope they'll surprise us with that last new content for elona, and at least some changes like suggestions we made (and some NICE skill updates for pve)
thx for the info anet.... (not thanking them for not making the elona content.... which i hoped for at least)

Yes they do, just like last year they will release some of the more rarer mini's with presents.

or do you mean they got it ready for us?
well, they will do more with items, like they did with sigils, costing now 3 gold z coins (and i tried to sell my sigil, and npc wanted to pay 1k...)
i'm sure they have more nice changes, maybe not all new, but in a good way

Does anyone remember a recent interview with Colin (I think that's who it was) where he talked about how cheap it was to create content for Guild Wars because it was just a matter of shifting stuff around? It was buried in a GW2 interview. If this is the case, then why aren't they motivated to add expansions to the existing map? I'm not talking about free content but full priced, story driven zones with new monsters, armor and loot. No new classes or regular skills. At best, expand on pve only skills like summons.
Unless of course the Live team really no longer exists and it's only a few people who check in on GW to make sure the automated stuff is running correctly.

Adding content may be "easy" but it still requires paid labor to create such.

They took our money with the box/key we bought, it's hard to hope for new content 6 years later.
All they can do is balancing the meta (shitty shockwave) and offering reduce in the game store like 50% for next bday on slot, just like the 4th bday (or 5th don't remember).
That's just sad.
Maybe we should try to launch the GW: Utopia project on Kickstarter and if we get enough fund, Anet will listen to us

Oh...even if expected, it's still hard to accept, written like that. Sounds so much "we don't care about this game anymore". So basically they're putting no more resources on it while people is still buying it and the stuff from the shop...thus giving them money they're investing in another game. Now I SO know I won't buy slots ad stuff ever anymore
And if "Quality of Life" updates means things like teleport nerf...
@Ayuhmii
new items=new content, so no.

there will be new items....like the grab bags and tokens, but nothing of substance...and crummy updates that the janitor is pushing thru (see teleportation).
Just really REALLY sad, when they could be doing so much to bring players back into the game and MAKE money, but I guess they have put all their eggs into the gw2 basket (yeah there is NO LIVE TEAM it went over to gw2 and has NOT returned, and after what they twit-ed never will) and are too short sighted to see the possibilities anymore.
as for content, would be nice if they finished thing off, like the lunatic court, Evennia in ascalon etc....but since they dont care anymore I just hope they put it in a book sometime so we can at least find out what happened.

I lost hopes on Evennia. I'm considering it an open final (not because that's the way they made it, just my choice). I like to imagine a big fight where she insults Aldebern and such :P Either that or she married a margoyle...

I'm hoping that, for the its anniversary, A-Net will just release the source code and let us have our own private servers and, maybe even, our own skill updates. If you don't care about a game, at least give it to the fans.
By the way, that bull***t update that changed Teleportation into Shadow Stepping came just one day before Guild Wars 2 was 30% cheaper on their website, for just 3 days.
Yeah, eff you too A-Net.

It means: we'll nerf the game so much that the quality of life into it will become so bad you'll syop playing and we can happily shut down the servers".
Really, release an offline/lan version already, I would never play on a private server but playing offline would solve things for me.

They better fix account restores: recovery tool doesn't function anymore and they keep that information from the playerbase. nice "quality of life"
Ayuhmii Shanbwa
i think with "content" they mean a bigger update with new story and such
a LAN GW would be cool if GW really would stop, but if they still gain profits from GW, i doubt they shoo away the playerbase
its just that i've seen stumme doing way better work (well, he IS at the lead of the live team, says wiki), like 7 hero, embark and other stuff after that
live team tries out stuff, looks like we're in the test server o_O all those stupid skill updates/downgrades
i hope they will come back as the really good and nice live team i saw before, and give us nice things, instead of untested (beta looking imo) stuff we dont like, or even hate

Nevertheless it would be awesome to see new content getting released. This doesn't have to be a new campaign or anything major as EOTN. If one could get a nice idea on paper in accordance with the demands and wishes of the GW-community (with regards to new content) then Kickstarter could be an idea. But for it to work the whole community has to informed and help funding it.
Back to topic. Yes it is too bad that no new content will be released althought it is very understandable and expected. Personally i'd like to see something like some sort of Free-to-play model for GW. Mainly because the game still has potentials and due to the fact that there are no other games that are alike.
As for the new teleporting update (read; downgrade), it is of course complete unnecessary at this stage of the game. There are still things that still could use an update but this is pointless. Let's hope they won't kill the game with bad updates....''if it ain't broke, don't fix it''.

I read this the other day and realized the wording they used. It's an article from IGN about How Guild Wars 2 Plans to Survive
The thing that caught my eye was the use of the phrase "Quality of life" The idea that you use your existing content to refine or add to it in a way that makes the most use of what you've already got is exactly what's already happened with the WiK and the Woc storylines. Perhaps there's a little more of Guild Wars to be squeezed out in the future afterall?
I'm still hoping for further updates to classes and a resolution to the whereabouts of Evennia and possibly finishing the Guild Wars Beyond storyline for Elona.

I am not sure how they plan to keep gw2 going for 10 years when they have already abandoned the game that spawned it after 7....I am sure they will find things they just 'cant do with this game engine' and it will go the same way the original has...
They just dont inspire confidence in me when they give up on a great game for a wow type clone.
I dont see them adding anything since they would need to not only add a bunch of quests to get the elona story going but also a bunch of new weapons, enemies and such, Evennia I could see as that would just be 'a quick bunch of quests' which they say only takes a 'few minutes' to push out...so why dont they??????

As far as "Quality of Life," I wish they wouldn't use such an ambiguous statement. It leaves more questions unanswered now.
As far as the Kickstarter idea, it's not a great idea because what would happen is people that donated may get upset because any new content that comes as a result of it may not be exactly what some of the donaters wanted. It's better for Anet to develop new content and the player can then decide if they want to pay for it. But Anet doesn't want to develop new content, so therein lies the conundrum.

I'm not sure what they think they will accomplish with this new information. I don't play GW2 because I don't like GW2, I bought the DDE, so it's not a matter of money. If they make GW1 unpleasant to play I still wont play GW2, if they shut down the servers I still won't play GW2. I planned on buying the 4 slots of storage, the 2 Halloween costumes I'm missing and the merc pack, (I hated WoC and won't buy that set) but I wont be pushed into playing GW2, what I will do is take the money I planned on giving to GW1 and saving it for another game, probably ESO.

If GW2 were a true successor to GW, then I'd still be playing GW2 instead of having given up on it after 3 months. I stalk the GW2 forum to see whether I'll ever be interested in it again, but then I think, I'd rather make a new toon in Elona and play through everything again...

Remember when people would jump on another poster and use the "What did you expect, Guild Wars 1.5?" Well isn't this the same thing?

Someone I know says there is a bit of an interview of the one of the three Guild Wars founders that still remains with Anet. He came out saying it's limited and that he has feelings of contempt towards it. Sadly he couldn't dig up a link, but perhaps someone else can. It's so odd since nearly everyone I know dislikes Guild Wars 2 except for one person and even he says there's things wrong with the game.
I was or would say Guild Wars 3 would be a hope for something, but I guess now that's gone too. A lone game with its own genre.
Badly I hope the "no new content" doesn't include new hard mode quests.

i just hope they wont drop us, and hope they will make a few more new contents, like at least the elona one
(another idea i liked was being able to walk over deadly sand in elona with some sort of blessing after you completed elona... i'd love to kill those big groups and a wurm popping up without the team using wurm skills)
plz anet, dont drop us like most people see it now.....
maybe new places for nick to stand.... i thought about this when i thought about proph missions being exploreable, and nicholas showing up in there, lol
just a passing thought, would be funny

more likely most of those who had worked on the original have left the company, so all we are left with is people who are clueless...(and the janitor ).

Sure the events will continue, that doesn't take any resources... they just press a few buttons and it goes live on the servers. New items... I highly doubt it. New content, definitely not.
Oh and GW2 has been released for around 7 months lol if they were going to put a team on GW1 it would have happened already. "this early"? ....
