A Collection of Ranger Suggestions
JATO
Rangers should be able to use another weapon other then a bow..
Bows while cool.. are the only weapon a ranger can use and get full damage from.
Warriors can use Hammers/Swords/Axes.
I think Rangers should be able to use short swords or something.. come on.. blades are essentials to surviving in the wilderness... wouldn't a self respecting Ranger know how to use a darn knife or sword?
The high end swords could be locked out to only Warriors or the addition of Sword Mastery means you have less Attribute points for other skills.. causing a trade-off and making the player choose a strategy.
Remeber.. Guild Wars is all about strategy and using your limited skills to the max.. addition of a sword skill would force you to choose a close-in Ranger or a long range ranger.

Like the following ideas posted by other members...
NEW SKILL:Etherial shot
Quivers
Stealth/Scout - similar to shadow walk
Combining Charm and comfort animal
direct Pet to move ahead, or attack specific enemies [important]
See modified energy costs based on expertise [important]
I think these ideas could be implemented without affecting play balance or making the Ranger class too powerful.
Own Ideas....
Dual Wield weapons
Swordmanship
My 2 ideas I think would be the least likely to be implemented 'cause it is too much like a Warrior or Assasin. I just don't want to give up my 2nd class to get an off-hand attack like assasins or swordsmanship like a warrior

Rangers are the only class without an offhand bonus (unless wielding a melee weapon). Staves have better bonuses in most cases than bows do, giving hp, energy, ect. This would be a great place to make the quiver as a "offhand" item. Placing the quiver in the offhand would equip it on the back and could only be wielded while wielding a bow.
The clipping of cape through the quiver wouldn't be too bad, if the quiver just sat on top (you could just turn off the cape too. Currently, a staff user will find the staff "magically" pokes a hole through the guild cape anyway. Not a huge issue to me.
Pet commands! I've been asking for this since I started playing. It's time for Pet and henchie commands.

i like the idea of just having a quiver for appearance. keeps things simple.
also there are some npc rangers who DO have quivers, and that upsets me.

Ownage i would really love an eagle, it can hang on my shoulder,
Dougal Kronik
I'd love to have a pet bar with some simple commands as well.
Additionally the quiver for ascetic purposes would be a great addition.
I really like the idea of having pet interaction emotes. Like /Pet <petname>, /Play <petname>, /Feed <petname>, /Praise <petname>.
Would be simple enough to implement.

i would also like the quivers to be able to be on the thigh or back

Put the quivers on the side, where a scabbard would normally hang. No game graphics tweaks needed.
The kennel is a must. The Pet bar to control them is a must. These are very standard features in other games.
The unique avatars for each Nature spirit is a great idea.
I'd like to see more pets - even if they are just different asthetically - although I feel there should be pro's and con's to each pet.

Placing the quiver on the side would not interfere with the cape in anyway. Therefore I agree that from a CGI perspective the quiver on the side would be the easiest option. Just have to make some adjustments to things like sitting, kneeling, and the dancing option for the Rangers(male at least).

Quiver as an offhand item that can be equipted with use of Bows? Entertain your self with this thought.
Alotia Slipfeet
for an offhand for bows why dont they just impliment the bow realease things. it helps you hold your bow at full draw longer without feeling like your fingers are popping off.
ps ill get a pic of one as soon as photobucket is back up
sorry for the late edit just uploaded it
this i think would be the most pracitcal off implimintan a offhand bow idea.
i use it for my coumpound bow and it really nice to have for heavy lbs bows

I was splicing up with Photoshop and I found two ranger faces I really liked.. But they were too extreme in their features, so I mixed them together. I hope GW implements more "medium" faces like this.
Eye Color needs to be added to customization too...

Rangers should be able to have a different TYPE of weapon to use other than a bow....
Maybe a special type of sword or something

Place quiver in offhand "slot" in inventory - therefore the devs do not need to create a new slot for inventory. Equip quiver and now, it shows on the back, or side as others have suggested. That help any?

Are you asking if those people are the same as me? If so, umm, no. If not, what are you asking me again? lol - I'm soo confused.

nevermind wasaguest, i made a mistake.
Lady Lorwinia
I have been experimenting for some time with an r/w bunny thumper and sword condition dealer.
It has been so fun, but with what I've read about the assassin..
Looks like assassins are a mix between a ranger and a warrior.. but have better abillities and such..
Let's just hope r/w don't go extinct..
I predict a sharp rise of touch rangers very soon...

r/w might go extinct because of r/a

Since we have a spider we should be able to have a badger or a hawk ^^ I've been wondering why does anyone want that cursed spider.
But I love the Ideas except the face liting, how could a vendor to a plastic surgery on your character :/
but I agree with all of the others.

Rangers rise again, and as they do, so does this thread for suggestions

NEW SUGGESTION: CROSSBOWS!! Rangers only have one weapon, for ranger's sake!
Tera
i agree new weapons wud be gr8, i like the sound of whips, maybe link them to BM?
crossbows are good aswell, maybe give them longer rnage than bow, but slower re fire rate.
new pets are a must, i want my battle hawk!
come on ppl MORE SUGGESTIONS!
i hope the designers of guild wars read these threads

95% of all these suggestions are not reasonable!!
It's there!! Stupid!! Dual shot fires 2 glowing dots that flys out.
It's already there!! If you have kindle arrow preparation, your arrows turns into a firebolt. And if you use poison arrow, it turns into a green arrow.
Then why I see so many people have Tarantula for pet?
/signed!
It's already there!! Healing spring have swirling rings on the ground where they're cast. You people just don't notice them in battle.
What's the point of this? You already can see others on the map.
What's the point of mounts? You already map travel. This is animal cruelty; I really like to see a horse riding on your back.

When firing Dual Shot, two arrows should be seen fired, not just one. |
Quote:
When firing fiery arrows/icy arrows/etcétera, this should affect the arrows appearance accordingly. |

-More Pets: Hawks/birds that rest on your shoulder when they are not attacking. And more pets in general (ok first of all why can I charm a freaking spider in UW, but I cant charm a moss spider? Spiders are not animals, why should you be allowed to have one as a pet?) |
Quote:
-Bows should have strings! |
Quote:
-The 'Healing Spring' spell should have a visible area; perhaps like a light-blue version of a Necromancer 'well'. Most people don't know that Rangers have an area heal spell, and when it's cast it's not readily apparent. Unless you tell people, or they know, most people won't know to move into, or not move out of, the area of effect. |
Quote:
-A Stealthy Skill, so the ranger can scout ahead like a ranger should. Ranger cannot be seen by foes, but moves 75% slower. something like that. |
Quote:
-I remember a suggestion in an earlier thread about the option to have the pets as mounts, (perhaps after they have evolved to their large form) - depending on the skill of beastmastery |

btw, lightblade, i think ppl meant when they use firey bow strings etc, and icy arrows and air/lightning arrow look like normal arrows.
and the haling spring is very difficult to notice, there is an effect but its not very clear or noticable. i agree with the stealth thing though, there isnt much use to it.

New Ranger Elite Skill:
Beast Master: (New skill)
Skill Cost: 10 | Skill Recharge: 15 | Cast Time: Instant
When equipped, this skill allows control of 2 animals in battle. When used on an allied animal, this skill will apply health regeneration of 1-6 for 10 sec or resurrect fallen allied animal.
Animal Slots: Give rangers ability to charm multiple animals (say 4-6) and choose which one they want to take into battle with them. Animals are one form of a rangers "weapon" styles. Just as all classes can choose to change weapons depending on circumstances, rangers should be allowed to choose which pet to travel with them through a mission/quest/explorable area depending on the terrain.

sounds good, i like the idea of merging pet res and charm animal in one, and the multiple animal thing is good aswell, but i prefer the pet storage idea, so that this dosent have to be elite would work great if they introduced more pets or more variables to pets like armour, attack speed/power etc
