It would be awesome if someone could work up a list of the different amounts of XP yielded by certain monsters (when solo). For example, Mountain Trolls give 168 xp. This list could help nerds like me who want to get an even 1,000,000 xp just to show it off. I'm nearing 1 Million on my Mesmer, so likely I'll be looking around at areas that give 10xp or fewer. If anything like this has been posted already, I'd sure be interested in the link.

You just have to kill lvl 15 guys, since at 6 levels above you gain 0 xp from each monster. The easiest place I've found for this is just outside ToA. You get (i think) 16xp for killing one, half if you take a henchie, 1/3 if you take 2 henchies, etc etc. The amount of XP you get is determined by the difference in level, and the number of people in your party, so assuming you're lvl 20 you'd have to kill monsters at lvl 15 with 8 henchies to get the lowest possible xp. ToA only allows for 6 (I think) but that's usually enough, with a bit of simple math and planning. Just make sure none of the henchies die, because that will screw up your xp.

It's not too difficult, just kill stuff outside TOA/Druid's Overlook with henchmen until you get to the nearest hundred, then solo-farm the Elona Minotaurs (100xp each) until you get your million. You can try a Rampager's scroll for double the xp (200xp per Mino) if you're a wee bit off your target.

Thanks for the tips, the monsters in the Kryta area work perfect.
Edit: A guildmate and myself worked on compiling a list today of what monster levels give what amount of XP, so soon I'll post a link to that Excel file when I finish it.
Oh yes, and here's an update on my XP, I did gain one level too!
Soon I'll have Glint and the Fissure Dragon Lich beat!

This chart was initially meant to go in Community Works, but it never was approved for some reason. So I'll keep it here.
For those like me who like to show off the amount of Experience Points (xp) they have earned on a specific character, it's nice to have your XP at an even amount when taking the screenshot (such as at an exact 1,000,000). I know several articles have been written concerning the mechanics behind XP calculation, but I have not ran across a list that shows what XP is yielded by certain creatures to level 20 players. So with the aid of a guild member of mine, we explored Tyria looking for specific level creatures that are easily "farmable." So here's that spreadsheet, in the form of a screenshot.
Here's a link to the file itself, if you wish to save and edit it for your personal use. I didn't fool around with legal protections and the like, but please do recognize who put the work into this.
"Exact XP" Chart

Using the spreadsheet I created, I finally reached my milestone goal! This'll be the last update in a while, so here it is!
When I found myself getting close, I was at 993,207xp. After some extenstive math, I killed 3 Jungle Trolls(level 18) with 2 henchmen, which yielded 21xp per Troll, putting me up to 993,270. Then I killed one Forest Minotaur solo(level 19, 80xp), putting me at 994,350. After that, I took one henchmen and killed one Elona Minotaur(level 20, gave 50xp), putting me at 994,400. It was easy after that, all it took was carefully soloing 56 Elona Minotaurs(level 20, 100 xp). I slowed to soloing just two at a time when I got to about 999,000 to ensure I didn't kill too many. (Follow that? )
So it goes to show that with a little math, any XP amount can be evened out.

Shanaeri is Me/E, and gains xp from FoW/UW group clearing. I'm Me/Mo and gain xp from solo/duo farming.

On serious note, I love the way people can achieve goals in whatever way they wish on this game.
For example, Rayne, Excellent work, I can just imagine you scouring tyria for the right kinda of monster. Now that takes real work and Avarre doing her droks runs and pushing whats possible with a single mesmer is just cool
I love to go with friends, and try group stuff(all mes UW with 8 etc) It's what I enjoy. Others love to solo farm and deal with the challenges of a small focussed team as opposed those of a full size one.
I loved yesterday, I got to take friends and guildies to places in the Fow/UW they had never been to, did quests that they had only ever heard about and I hit a silly amount of XP with them. Also friends all hit their XP goals within a few hours, two 4m's, 1 3m, and several 2m's . A great day.
I'll slow down now I think. I need about a weeks sleep before ch2 as I know I wont get any after

Bah, blasted mesmer catching up... try not 55ing coward! Gonna have to mad farm the easy stuff with scrolls since I can't FoW/UW at a decent hour during the week. Haven't hit 11 hit, or 3 on my monk.

I'm taking a break from farming for xp on my Mesmer also. It was fun working toward 1 million; but I've had enough for now. My next project is getting my Elementalist, Rayne Frostfyre's xp up to 1 million. I love playing as an Earth/Water build in Fissure, it really takes the edge off. So doing quests there will help, but I also am working on a 55 build using Earth Magic. So soon I'll figure out a way to farm some sort of high level creatures in Tyria. As of now my Mesmer, Warrior, and Monk all have over 1,000,000xp, so I can't wait to get my Elementalist up there too to complete that project on my main account.
