Most hated Guild wars 'words.'
The Real Roy Keane
Which words or terms would you most like to see eliminated from GW? I'd personally love to see pwn/pwnage,own/ownage , <3(and no,I'm not),and above all others,noo,n00b,nub and all varients fall down a hole and die of AIDS. Anyone else feel the same or is it just me?

I think those are fine. If you play any games online, you're going to see them anyway. It's a part of gamer culture.
But the ones *I* want to see go away are:
-IWAY
-WTS/WTB (especially in white - pink is okay by me)
-"give" especially when followed by "me"

The ,,|,, (~.~) ,,|,, smiley. Not a word actually, but I'm emotionally scarred by these things anyway. Seriously, wtf.

I vote for "ggkthx." The other words are occasionally useful, but this just says, "I'm not very bright and instead of listening to what you have to say I'm going to pretend I'm right because I said so."
Diablo???
haha, ggkthx... wow thats simultaneously fast and rude!
I hate it when a new builds are automatically abreviated when its used by more than 2 GW players. Took me a while to realize whats a:
mm, ss, bipper, dgen, 55, eo, etc...
thank god for GWGuru.com

<( ^w^)> is my favourite one so far.

My vote goes for 'noob', 'n00b', 'nub' and all other derivations of newbie - so unnerving.
I'd like to beat them with the nerf stick.
Oh, another bad word: Nerf !!!111oneone. can we just replace this with *beep* please ?

The only one I hate is 'nub' because I played with a complete idiot who called someone that just because they didn't know every single thing about FoW.

I hate "rez", "rez me", and "rez me plz". You are dead, you can spend at least the few seconds that you may remain dead to use proper grammar. If I play a monk, I am much more inclined to "rez" you if you just stay quiet and let me do my job.
If you must insist on asking to be resurrected, get rid of the stupid "z".

I have come to hate "please" or "pls" and "plz"....why? because what once was good manners has turned into some lazy bugger asking for "gold plz", "sell me that weapon for 1/2 what u want for it, i really want it ...PLEESE!!!" or "can someone run me from Ascalon to the Crystal Dessert for free? Please" whiners and beggars using the word please, like it actually means something to them, while you know darned good and well, they will never appreciate woking towards and accomplishing a goal. "Please" has even swayed me into a bad trade or two (because it means something to me...and I hate that)...please is so often followed by the implied word :"sucka" ...which you are if you fall for the trap laid out by "pls...just 500g 4 my armor...someone?"
My second most hated: prolly...it just looks and sounds stupid.

Hmmm, 'favor or favour'.
DevilStick
For me, those folks that want everyone to know what they're doing bother me. "I'm attacking this...", "I'm attacking that...", "I'm dead." And always with perfect typing and punctuation... how do they type that fast????
(This is a joke.)

1) "nub" the most annoying of the "noob" line
2) "REZ" and its variations "REZ NOW", "rez me idiot monk" "rez rez rez"
3) its variation "HEAL", I can see your health bar thanks :S

"ppls". First, people is ALREADY plural. And second, it reminds me too much of Pennsylvania Power and Light and how much I have to pay on my electric bill.
Seeing this word makes me wish I could use my weapons in the outposts.

"GLF 2 Monks"
"PM with offer"
"WTB...Cheap!"
"PM with offer"
"WTB...Cheap!"

Only played through one character with PUGs, the rest have henched it through the game...but...I'd have to say "You're playing a X/X, omg noob, you need to use this and this, not that and that, oh and completely change your skillbar for me!" Sometimes they did have a wierd skillbar and said thanks for the help afterwards, but almost 90% of the time, this person had been playing that character for quite a long time and actually knew what the hell they were doing, whereas the "change for me" person, typically has never played that skillset he just told and he only said it because he got it from the build section of this forum...
Evil Hypnotist
the word 'Godly' when describing something to be sold. No weapon on this game is 'Godly', its one of the things Anet were trying to distance themselves from when making this game; no weapon should solely make a player much better than any other
AxeMe
I hate all variations of the word noob.
Most of all though I am depressed and frightened by the spelling and grammar used in the game.
I'm bothered because I worry how these people will survive. It doesn't particularly matter if their characters survive a run-in with a hydra. But surviving in the real world will be an enormous problem -- many of them aren't dumb, they just sound dumb. That will be enough, unfortunately, to keep them out of the best jobs and schools.
This comment is directed at native English speakers. For those who aren't ... heck, they have my admiration for communicating at all.
And at first I thought that those with bad grammar and communication skills were mostly from places where English isn't spoken. But most often, when I talk to some of the worst cases, I find that they are - in theory at least - native English speakers.

I love all those words, and if you let words bother you then it's really your own problem not the problem of the deliverer. I laugh and laugh when people get upset because someone called them a name. It's utterly rediculous to get so uptight and upset and let words bother you. The only words I fear are from the tax collectors from the IRS. (In terminator voice) We come to take your house, we'll be bauck. lol

Well my vote must go to, LFG - no n00bs. Almost noone will call them self for n00bs/newbs/nubs and all the others word for it. Just write prober english.

4) U (as in "R U 2 ded?)
3) n00b (as in "stop usnig reversal u n00b!!1"
2) gay (as in "teh gay n00b used reversal")
And the most misused word in Guildwars is...
1) nerf (as in "teh HoD swrod has been nerfed")

"n00b" seems over used in GW, specially in Competition Arena with those warrior characters.
I only use "gg" in public to show my appreciation to the other team for their level of playing regardless win or lose, if there is no such "n00b" calling from the other team.

I've actually been kicked out of a Tombs group before for not knowing that, somehow, 'sbvent' stood for 'server.gw-vent.com'.
While I frequent that Ventrilo server, how am I supposed to know one person's random abriviations for everything?
Everyone has to have their own abriviations, and those are what I don't like. 'u can play teh BP Monk?!?!' 'A gas station monk???'

Anyway, this is a dumb thread. Most of those abbreviations exist because it takes too long to type them while multitasking the game. Why would you keep typing "Looking For Group" 20 times to find a group when all you have to do is type "LFG". Virtually almost everyone knows what it is in the game.
The 'n00b" comment is an entirely different story.
Hell the phrase I hate the most is "in english please" after it was properly stated. That goes to show you that even if it was right the first time the teeny bopers in game who have 3rd grade english skills can't even read the real thing.

Anyway, i'd just like to get rid of the smack-talking idiots ... example:
In CA yesterday, 2 of my team quit before the match even started. It was me (ranger) and a mesmer vs. a bonder, 2 tanks, and a necro. We (somehow) managed to last 2:30, and then died. The RED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GOy monk said "That was pathetic. noobs." So I whisper the $^%#* and say "Hey, we didn't do too bad for only 2 people", "Flawless victory wasn't bad? I'd hate to see bad ... noob." -player jerky monk is ignoring you- ...
I suppose it's just that the internet lets you say things that you would never say face-to-face to a person, for fear of getting your teeth knocked out ... oh well. My grandfather always said: "Rudeness is a small person's form of power", which I have always believed. *sigh*
Can't say i'm eager to join the ranks of "OMG pwnzord j00 n00b!!!!oneone!!!shiftone!!1!11!1!!"
Dracus Steelbow
i hate every word dpeople miss use, or over use. I can understand people how talk in wierd ways, like this "R u goin 2 teh prty?" becasue that is a form of speech called L33t.
