pets can not level up if they are a higher level than you

and also this thread is useless as all pets have exactly the same health and do exactly the same damage. even the giant spider from underworld has they same health as a moa bird

The spider's can be found in the UnderWorld to tame as a pet. I've been told by many people as well that each pet has certain abilities, spiders interrupt on attack, or every other attack.

actually, i think my black widow runs faster than most pets, and according to some information websites they have 1 or 2 more damage

There are pretty much... no difference between pets.

After some people research it out... they conclude that all pet are the same until they recieve a prefix in their name.

Hearty: +60 hp -2 damage
Playful: +30 hp -1 damage
Elder: +3 damage
Aggressive: +1 damage -30 hp
Dire: +2 damage -60 hp

it went something like (on top of my head)
That means an elder spider and an elder wolf is going to give you the same effect.

Think about it... they would give you chaos axe, serpent axe, war axe... but yet all the same stat except for the mod... This is exactly the same thing.

and of course... all pet now is 20% faster and 80 AL at lv20.

im likin my elder wolf... pets are now viable in pvp.. i have a build that does quite good oh and if i cast call of haste this wolf moves out.. i mean hes freggin fast he can its so funny just to watch him bolt after that monk thats running away

My W/R has a black bear as pet and I love it It really comes down to which animal you personally like better ... I like hearing my bear's quiet growling behind me, besides he's HUGE at level 20, black and fuzzy. None of the pets have caused me trouble in PvP so far (not like anyone brings pets to PvP anyway except random or 4v4 arenas), although a bear with Balthasar's aura on him might have caused some annoyance to the teams I met yesterday in 4v4.

IMO the reason people like UW spiders is that they believe they're "cool" because it shows the owner has been to UW. Which is rare or something. /sarcasm mode off

All pets are the same thru and thru. the only diffence is your beast mastery lvl and the prefix that minutly changes the characteristics of the pets. i.e +/- 1-2 dmg and +/- 30-60 hp

I have had the stalker, the bear, the wolf, the warthog, and even the spider. I think everyone wants to think the spider is so much better than it really is because of where you get it.


and I love my warthog affectionatly named "Shortbus"

the only spider you can charm is in Underworld.. Which you need to do 3-4 quest saving the viallge in underworld.. then the spider will appear around the village

There are tamable spiders in Pre. I got bored and explored everywhere. You do have to look around for the area they are at (Can't remember right now, as I've been busy with alot of post stuff for sometime). I don't know how the spiders in pre stack up....was playing Necro/Warrior at the time. After Ascenion, I switched to Nec/Ranger. Going after a dune lizard pet. Thinking blood magic and pet will work good for PVE.

No. There ARENT tamable spiders in pre. It claims they are "not animals." Moss spiders, i know. But unfortunately for us, they are not actually animals.

I have a question guys. I wana capture the UW spider, but I plan on going down to UW as a trapper. What does my beast mastery level need to be at in order to charm a level 20? I would hate to get down there and not be able to charm the spider because my attribute points were too low.

you dont need any points in there just your charm skill thats it..... but be warned MANY ppl want the spider so if you go in with a random group you WILL have it stolen from you.. take a group of ppl you know and trust that way you will get it

1. Bears CANNOT be charmed in Pre searing, it was patched recently.
2. Moss Spider CAN NEVER BE CHARMED.Nor any other spider(excluding underworld)
3. The only spider breed that can be charmed is in the underworld and you get it at level 20.
4. Playful and Hearty appear on pets names when they reach a certain level. First Playful then hearty. When these apear, it means you pet has increased in size and Str(im not sure about str).
5. The strongest pet in the game as in the most dmg is the elder black widow spider found in the underworld.
6. The weakest is a moa bird, tho it attacks fast.
7.Wolfs, Cat breeds and dune lizards do arond the same amount of damage.
8. Warthog does blunt damage.
9. Bears are the second strongest animal in the game.

No and no.

The Moa bird does not attack faster, it just *seems* to attack faster. Watch it's damage, it peck and pecks and pecks but only *sometimes* hits. So it looks like it's attacking faster but really it's just for show.

Bears aren't necessarily the second best pet. As someone graciously pointed me out numerous times every pet is equal in Hp, speed of attack, attack dmg and defence to the exception of the Elder black Widow in UW, that pet was set apart form the others for *obvious* reasons.

Unless Anet puts up information about pets. All pets are considered equal in every area but the spider.

Actually the Elder Black Widow just appears to deal more damage becuase it comes with the Elder evolution standard. Whereas most pets that are trained up normally end up with the Hearty evolution. So people are comparing the Hearty to the Elder and going... "Yes, the Black widow does more damage."

Where the truth is that an Elder Warthog (or any other pet for that matter) does the same exact damage as an Elder Black Widow.

Btw, My favorite is the Warthog. I have one named "Comrade Pig".

I dunno, but from my experience, my pet bear is... fatter. Fatter in the respect that it's harder to walk around them, and they can body block you easier. I'm pretty sure I'm not just imagining it.

they grow in physical size, they DONT change appearance (bloodsoaked teeth etc)

Elder pets are actually pretty small compared to the hearty evolution, it may have been one of those.
