perhaps you could have:
Height slider(affects height)
Muscle slider(affects appearences of muscle, similar to SanAndreas)
Weight slider(affects "roundness/stickness" of character, again already in SanAndreas)

This stuff has all been done on worse systems than the minimum requirements for GW, so honestly...its not a matter of if it can be done, but if they will.
That could be pretty awesome. Although what do you mean about muscles? Do you mean texture or actual mesh shape?

Really that would be the best option but I would be happy with being able to choose a type of body like a type of hair if that would be easier.

Bump mapping could do muscles to a point. It would prolly be able to be turned off then as some computers might have trouble with that, (doubtful...but maybe)

This would also be less complex than mesh. (bah, I feel so useless...years as a 3d animator and no way to help.)

I just have a few things to clarify on:

Concerning monk and warrior body types: if they're the same, why do warriors have potbellies and monks don't? Why do male warrior legs look absolutely stupid while wearing chainmail armour, meanwhile tattooed monk legs look defined and not bowed?

Concerning warrior faces: they're all the he-man/conan/barbarian king brouhaha stereotype. I would personally take finess over raw force any day, and I would love to have a character that reflected it.

I have truly become annoyed to see every 7 ft tall bulldozer rush at me when I play caster in CA, and usually I just do a little magic and avoid them. But if several toned fighters (as in people who look like they've been trained) rushed at me I would hit x and r because holy crap they're about to kick my ass!

I don't care if I'm becoming redundant, this rant is making me feel better.

If it isn't too advanced, you could make two bars:
body fat (1% - 50% for the extremes (anything above 50 is just disgusting, not to be discriminatory)) and
body muscle

You can use the height bar to set the height, and then move either indicator of the body fat/body muscle bars, which are opposite (so when you move one to 'more', the other one goes 'less'). In this way, you can have chunky warriors who look like they can pack a few punches -- but that's all they'll be able to do... or you can have lean athletic fighters who look like they could hamstring you, sever the tendons to your wrist, and carve their name in your neck all before you could begin casting your defensive spell.
You could also have necromancers who look like they won't break the moment you touch them... or elementalists who don't look like they've been locked in a closet and starved for the past year.

Howeevr i want 1%-100% body fat bar!

That woudl be so great, i would make al lmy chars 100% body fat!

That would be so funny!

BLOB TO DA RESCUEEEE!!!!!!

+ Opponents in PVP would fall down laughing giving me enuff time to kill them

I hate the look of my skinny necro, it's just so ugly.
Eye color, more hair styles, and even nose shapes should be added too.

(also hate how my red 8k undies dont match my green hair can we change the undie color with dye :P)

Personally, neither...lol

I was thinking of a thinner warrior, not a change in armor.

Guys and gals, the easiest way to implement the body type is with a horizontal axis size slider which functions independently of the vertical axis slider. At the moment, the height control / vertical slider also controls horizontal axis size -- the two functions are presently sync'd. A second independent slider would accomplish the proposed "character bulk" customization. ANET already implements latter in their other pay-for-play titles City of Heroes and City of Villains, so they already have the necessary code available. I would certainly not be surprised if we this this feature added in Factions or some other future patch.

That wasn't exactly the idea.. I want to be lean not have new armor. More like ranger body not ranger armor. That would make me happy enough.

Arena Net doesn't make those games. City of Heroes and Villains is made by Cryptic Studios.

Anet doesnt make City of Villians, NCsoft does. I am sure they could make/get the code, but they have nothing to do with those games.

I never wanted to be the "he-man"-stereotype warrior. I'm a freelance mercenary warrior/assassin, not a 300 pound meatshield, just waiting for the enemies to trip over me.

Granted, I see how one would find it ridiculous to spend time ajusting appearence in a game; but it's a ROLE playing game. It's sorta implied that you ought to have a role for your character. Therefore, one should be able to look different from others.

I think it's a great idea.

This is the body I would be happy with:

http://img238.imageshack.us/img238/9...mbatant0mi.jpg

What about everyone else? If I had a warrior that had a body like that I would be happy. I also don't want to be a tank but a swordsman that uses sup runes.. I'm more of a solo kind of guy anyway.

I guess I just made the mistake of posting a pic from outside sources

Yeah, maybe. To me the pictures you put out all looked like the current warrior.

I really hope a dev atleast looks at this topic.

I like this idea, it would make the characters look diffrent.
Stefan and Little Thom, those guys hit up the Dwarven pub every Sunday night for Tengu wings and Dwarven Ale.

Okay there seems to be a mass approval of scales for body fat, and muscle mass. This is what I'll add, like height there needs to be limits to restrain the profession from looking too different then its generic look. Hence how monks are ment to be short, their max height is the medium height of a warrior. As long as there are limits to each profession with a fat/muscle scale, I'll be happy.

I would prefer that there wasnt a difference between professions height. (I dont mind the difference between male and female, but I am sure there are many who do)

Why cant they all just be the same, lower the lowest to the lowest so far, and the highest to the highest so far. (will someone repost that more eligently?)

I get what you mean and what he means. I agree that all the proffesions should be able to look similiar since they are all humans. Just because I'm a necro doesn't mean that I am undead or even evil. At the same time I can understand each class having their own look but I really don't think that it will be a problem.

Armor, hair, faces and skin tones will stay the same not to mention normal stance. I highly doubt adding somthing like this would make the proffesions look too similiar.

this may be a bit off topic, but i think it would be one step better if the person's style of fighting would change along with their body type. for example: when i was growing up, i lived near a martial arts dojo and a sword shop. Naturally, i learned martial arts and swordsmanship hand-in-hand, and i can tell you that the way a large person uses a weapon isnt the same as the way a small person would. i could beat larger, stronger ppl because i was faster, more agile, and smarter than them. Anyways, i think it would be quite cool if the style in which you fought would change according to your body type, but im getting ahead of myself. first things first, we need to get the body type concept off the ground first. thank you for your time.

Some professions, IMO, such as ele, are just fine. But I agree with some body types:

-Could we at least have ONE male necro that doesn't look like he's undead or a pupil-less zombie?

-Non-buff warriors.

-Non-buff rangers. Should we not be more nimble and such? I find it a bit odd the males have all these abs, and how? Just from running all over? Doesn't seem right.

-Taller women. Monks especially, they're microscopic in comparison to men.

It'd be a good idea to make some new changes, but not a huge array of 20+ body types. Massive model and polygon variants = painful.

But what anet appears to be doing is based on the flavor of the chapter you are creating your character from, it will be different selections.

You will be able to create a monk in Factions but the face style, body, color are different from the one in C1.
