Actually, this makes sense, doesn't it? You've unlocked the skills, so why shouldn't you be allowed to buy them for your alt?

Good update.

I agree. Your second time through the game is a breeze no matter what skills you have. Might as well not force characters through the mundane fetch quests every damn time to get a skill they've already unlocked with a previous character (if they don't want to).

Since this hasn't been listed on the official GW update page, it might just be a bug though. Hope not. Unless this was planned all along for Factions and it's being made available as part of the PvE beta event streaming.

dgb: Like I said, don't linger at the log-in screen if you don't want to download the maps. Log in directly & start playing.

If you sort the skill list by campaign, you can see the skills designated as Core skills (read: carried over to Factions) and the ones that are Prophecies only. For example, Offering of Blood and Spiteful Spirit are Prophecies-only skills. (Looks like you'll have to boat over to Tyria to cap those elites for your future PvE's). Heal Area and Heal Other are Prophecies-only as well. 55'ers will be happy to note that Protective Spirit has made the Factions cut.

Quite a few bugs in the first update, it seems.

There's already been a second update, and I think there'll be a couple more under the day, as bugs are detected & fixed. This was a biggie, and a lot of things have been affected.

EDIT: OK, I quit for tonight. I was happy that I finished the inital 19mb download, then, of course, I get hit with a 1,000 file download.

thank god thats cleared up, i was wondering why i couldnt log in and was getting a dl rocketing up to 300mb.
even ran spyware and virus check , cheers for the heads up anet, always nice to be panicked for nothing

It still streams - just not as rapidly - watch what happens if you go idle (AFK?) and see the lightning up.

Much nicer divine aura. The old one had people using it to "piss" on other characters (/bowhead with divine aura), so that'd be an improvement.

They are doing what they have planned all along.

Over in the GWonline March 9th update thread, somebody posted a pic of a new staff skin and someone else also posted that Shadow Blades have begun appearing out of FoW chests. Who knows what else is out there to find now?

(Only posting that info here because it's worth telling.)

Seems to be the same as the warrior aura (before eles had the same as monk) and necros still have the pee-bowhead..

The reason these maps are being streamed now is presumably because they'll be used in the upcoming preview event.

The way to avoid downloading those 479 megs is presumably to not let your computer idle at the log-in screen - log in & start playing instead.

Oh crap I thought you were kidding about the 479 Mb update. Downloaded 1Mb and its still at 0% completed. Its gonna take me 32 hours to download that much.

EDIT : I quit then restarted and it only downloaded 5Mb on the first screen and I seem to be getting streaming updates as I move through the game, ie updates on every zone into a town, and inside towns. An intelligent update system that decided it couldn't be done all at once so it's doing it in the background?

There is a complete list of all the new PvP armors availeble for the 6 Core professions. All new armors, including a whole bunch of new stats and attributes.
The only lame thing is, necro's get 2, while the rest get 3 armors each.

No you're not.

That's just the update, the maps come when you idle at the log-in screen.
Also, even though I downloaded the full 479MB, I got to download about 1000 files upon entering Thunderhead Keep. I've no clue what that was about, because nothing seems to have changed there.

Seut: different classes have different divine aura? I never knew. I've only seen the 'roman candle' particle effect type.

Why do you want free skills if you did not buy Prophesies, if you want the skills then buy Ch1, simple as that.

This info has been stated since they first announced Factions.

Exactly, that was the first thing I noticed during a fight. I think it's because before the patch, the center of audio was at the camera position, now it looks like it's always in your character. Best tested by running around the fire in Deldrimor war camp.

Yes, the "warp" updates are huge. Reminds me of when the first GW:F preview event kicked off, it took a long time for each map to load.

Yeah, after you update and go in with a character you get to dowload a bunch of files but thats it, its only the one time and no to each map or area like when PvP Favtion preview weekend.

Anyway I downloaded all before coming to work and did not have to check any of the updates yet.

I cannot wait to get home.

Having no access to Chapter 1 areas should be enough. What Faction only owners do with 4 character slots if they can't have all skills for other than Assassin and Ritualist professions? It will also limit their secondary professions.

Now I start to see the pattern what Anet is doing. Buying chapters is optional but it will have an affect to bought chapters too by limiting available skills. If this will happen in PvP too, it will give unfair advantage to Chapter 1+2 owners. Buy all or be limited.
