Should Anet add experience emotes?

You know, if pve players want a reward system, the only way I can think of one that would do the player and the game any justice is a kind of 'community leader' or 'guide' (for lack of a better description) reward. i.e. a bronze border around your guild cape or a unique shiney graphic you could put in some inconspicous corner of your cape.

Basically for people that are generally well known in the Guild Wars community for being helpful, friendly and generally all round smashing chaps. For sharing their builds, helping lowbies through missions alot and drok running people for free etc etc.

People could possibly submit names via forums like this and the coolest pve dawgs get a community pat on the back. Or a selective process by anet devs or something. Anet enables their trim capes. Or their different coloured name. Or their emote. Or whatever - the actual reward is very much open to discussion.

But I would consider this an awesome way of recognising someone's contribution to the game. Not only is it something to shoot for and a unique look but its actually some kind of incentive not to be a fricking a**hole. And theres too many of those in the game at the moment as is.

You know, it's not really a big deal to me. But, I've completed all the Titan quests a couple times and someone always says, "Is that it? Is this all I get?" While I've done them for the fun of it and the sense of pride on completing them, I could see people wanting some sort of emote to say, "Hey! Look at me! I'm one of the few that finshed all the Titan Quests!"

Having 1mil exp just means you've farmed, unless I'm very wrong and you can get that much simply through gameplay (all missions + quests)?
Very, very wrong, currentley I have a ele with 1,250,000, a ranger approaching 650,000(hes new), and a monk that is very new(lvl16 atm), have never farmed a bit. Ive met people with toons that have 2-3 million and were not hardcore farmers, so to say anyone that has over 1,000,000 is a farmer is WAY OF BASE. Think about an average trip through the FoW, IIRC(havent been down there in a bit), its good for 40,000-50,000 xp a trip, the people who have mass XP are generally the ones who live in the FoW or the UW, at least in my experience.

I would support PvE rewards that are given for actually accomplishing something, not one's ability to run a farmbot for hours on end.

I don't think they should be fame flashes though, that's already a distinction for a separate part of the game. I'm sure A.Net could come up with something that PvErs would love, though.

In my head

City of Heroes had this really neat system called the Badge system where you'll get "titles" for completing certain missions or objectives. These titles did nothing but were a nice touch to your hero's profile.

Oh and there were SOME rewards (ie a ray gun or +5 health) but they were so minor that while they were neat they also weren't unbalanced compared to people who didnt get such rewards. It was just extra fluff.

But either way, I dont really care if they add in PVE rewards or not.

OK i got something to say

rank emote = bragging

jerk = bragging

pve emote + jerk = w/mo spending his life in the troll cave farming experaince

Pve emote = players making groups will be seperated by pve emotes

players making groups will be seperated by pve emotes = pve sucks

pve suck + pvp sucks = death

im 100% agains't this.

THERE IS A BIG DIFFERENCE BETWEEN HOW LONG YOU PLAY , AND HOW EXPERIANED YOU ARE, A LOT OF FARMERS HAVN'T EVEN COMPLETED THE GAME. THEREFORE THIS CANNOT AND WILL NOT WORK.

You have fow armor people scream ebay, you have high XP people scream solo farming, you have pvp emote people scream iway. So what ever you have someone somewhere will bitch about it, I would like a pve emote purely because I want one, I am working on my pvp enote (None iway) again purely because i want one.

I have 6 chars all finished the game,

3M xp on monk (NONE FARMED)
2M on warrior (NONE FARMED)
1M nearly on necro (NONE FARMED)
500k ish on Mes ranger and ele (NONE FARMED)

I had a farming monk but deleted her for a pvp slot, so gimmie the emote please

I'm thinking in clothing and other vanity items only. Exp just means that you've farmed FoW quests to the Forge more or UW soloed more.

PLEASE no "Such and such needs Stance Warrior for FoW! 8 million EXP+ group!" NO NO NO ;.;

This is what is wrong with PvP and SHOULD NOT be in PvE. There should not be a device that lets players see EXP ammounts. That will get us all on the EXP farming train and kill Guild Wars forever. New players who bought the game for the lack of grind will find themselves never being able to play the game in high end areas (just like anyone who didn't cash in on spirit spam+ IWAY in PvP)

Expirience Emotes are what is wrong with this game completely. We DO NOT need more. I already see some groups asking for 1 million exp+ members.

I would ask that instead we got rid of the Rank emote, I am so sick of seeing 12 year old IWAY fanatics running around places saying things like :-

'OMG, I'm L33T, LOOK AT ME'

Well, not exactly that, but you get my point.... The last thing we need is a bunch of obsessive farming grinders flashing an experience emote claiming they were great players...

I can see both side of this discussion, and I kinda agree with both sides.

I would not agree with an Exp based emote though

An emote (or something like that) based on the games completion would be a great addition. Something along the lines of some form of dislplayable reward for..

All Missions complete
All Bonus's
All UW quests
All Fow Quests
All Titan Quests

But make them only available to the toon that has finished them. Not the whole account

That should cut out any eliteism im the mission places because 90% of the people in the mission towns are there to do the mission or the bonus because that particular char has still got to do them, so they wont have the emote.

Do you Guys think this would work as a compromise?

Personally this idea is horrible. PVE already gets special items/weapon skins/armor skins/more dyes/etc... that pvp dont have. We have seen what the emote does in pvp and how the elitism argument has gone on and on and on and on and on.... I DO NOT want to see this enter into pve. Then we get 9000 more threads per day about how OMG i cant get into the best pve grps. im ragequitting if you dont fix it....

if youre not good, youre not good. im sorry, if you feel that you need a pve emote to validate how BAD you are at pvp because the pve community doesnt get anything as it is..., then im sorry

Nah no to XP emotes - it's bad enough having sad show-offs flashing their PvP emotes in none-PvP areas like LA, ToA as if they're something special without it being swamped by PvE show-offs too - I've got over 5m XP across my 4 characters, but don't feel any need to brag about it in-game.

Did you( Most of the above) even read Ms. Gray's comment. It will be done no matter what "you" say or think.

BUT she also didn't..never..said that it would be Xp based. So calm down and wait, for all you know it might have nothing to do with Xp,missions or quests.

After all, does proving that you can farm lots of exp prove you are an asset to a team? Not by a long shot.

Then again, /rank doesnt prove you're a great PvP'er either.

To be perfectly honest, if they do make a PvE "measuring stick", fine. if they don't, fine. There are better things to worry about
It would make sense to do it by missions/bonus per ACCOUNT, not necessarily player.

Im quite fond of just asking the members of PUG's questions if they clame they r experienced in mission..... works for me, takes a few, and pisses off a few ppl, but if they get pissed cause i ask a simple question bout mission or area, then i dont need them anyways...

I think you should get something if you have beaten all missions and bonuses on a charicter... nothen spectacular or such, just a simple "hey, i beat everything" designation....

Sorry for edits, keep having ideas....

Ya, played with a monk the other day, clamed over 3mil xp, he had no clue how to bond a warrior.... then was like, "oh, this is almost like my solo build....."

I don't think most people would want to see an emote based on XP. As noted time and time again, all that means is you've played a lot. Most farmers have loads of XP. That doesn't mean they're a great player.

On the other hand, I'm not saying all farmers suck. There are some great players out there that farm some make gold. I farm when I need some coin. I've been doing it a lot lately to prepare for factions. I just don't think there should any emote based strictly on XP.

The probem with a pve emote is that it can be obtained easily by a heavy farmer or a "dedicated" player. Also it would bring rankism into pve, and i assure you, you don't want that to happen.

I think everyone of us was happy to get into a group with players who already did the mission/quest before. Give people a pve emote and you`ll make it impossible for new players to get into a group for a quest/mission.

I don't think it's that hard to realise that someone in your group is a half/complete ididot. Kick him, get someone else... or just ask a friend to tag along.

Slight diffrence between pvp and pve: in pvp you don't fight the same "mosters", you face several builds/teams. So getting 180, 1000, 4600, 21000 fame ain't as easy as getting 1mill, 2mill... 10 mill XP. I say i can get 10 mill experience much faster than get 4600 fame.

Edit: let's wait for factions and see how you can get fame there. Maybe you can earn some fame in PvE and get an emote.

People that pvp still have a network of friends that they pvp with regularly if not with their own guild. this will solve nothing. all you will do is lose more people due to the time and effort they put into getting their emote, only to have someone who didnt put in the time to earn one take it away.

Too many people automatically assume that they will get to team with the best players if there wasnt any fame and be able to pvp more. This isnt true for reasons stated above. Resetting fame and rank is an even worse idea than this pve emote. neither will solve anything, just add to more problems and whining threads.

Hogwash, in my opinion.

"Oh noes, I won't be able to get through THK because everyone who wants to do the mission will be wanting PvE Rank X and I'm a new character!!!1!!"

Just who, then, do you think wants to do THK? Who's out in THK right now, forming PUGS? Who's "LFG FOR MISSION" in THK huh? A bunch of new characters or a bunch of characters with 5 million exp?

Do you really think that PUGs will say "Hey we're all new, PvE rank 1 characers, and we're LFG for THK... but YOU have to be r6+ to join!"

Please.

Sure, you might see some elitism popping up in FoW/UW runs but I don't think that would counter the amount of truly happy people who have a neat little emote now to show for their hard work. I can say that I'm closing in on 4.5 million exp, but I can't prove it. With these emotes, I could.

Oh and saying "people who farm will have emotes" -- duh. Just like the PvP emotes... people who farm fame will have emotes. The iMonk griffon farmers will all have emotes... and this will affect my enjoyment of a "true" earned emote for 4.5 million... how?

Exactly. It wouldn't. I'd be happy with my emote and Fred The Chinese Farmer will be happy with his. Yippe we're all happy, let's get drunk and screw! (apologies of course to Jimmy Buffet)

Since I have almost 3 million exp from my monk due to farming, its pointless to have an emote based on exp because it doesn't truely say anything about how experienced you are with the game.

However, I think an emote would be okay based on the number of characters to complete the game including all missions/bonuses & quests. This would give me a reason to finish the game with my 4th PvE character maybe instead of just getting a run to all places and ascending at lvl 7. I would sign this type of emote!
