tbh i wasnt really impressed at all with this update. i didnt like the fact that u started with a lvl 20 character as it took away the fun of being a low lvl character trying to kill higer lvl mobs

no runes to buy.

no skills to buy unless u lvl abut 10 times just to get a few skill points.

although the area maps were good graphicly(sp.) it didnt seem as though there was enough content to keep me playing this for a day.let alone a weekend. i know anet have worked hard to do thid for us, i am grateful, but it was not what i expected and i was bitterly dissapointed with it.

i will still buy the expansion, as there is a lot more content yet to be explored. i just though id post a thread for people who have found things they dont like about the update and they can post them here.

Well it's barely been 4 hours since the event started....I doubt you explored much of the new content. Though it's a problem if you got bored so easily. Did you try out the new 12 vs 12 battles yet? Ive heard those are really fun.

other than what you are reading from your quest giver, you have absolutly no clue what is going on. INTRO TO THE GAME PLEASE!

so thats my only real dissapointment, i know its just a beta event giving us a little smell of the cake but GW should have at least gave us a small intro cinematic.

if i were randomly invited into the event i woulda felt VERY left behind in whats going on. the only real solid things we know about factions are what you learn from NPCs in Lions Arch.

and i kinda expected an extra character slot or 2 for the beta event. i have 4 characters that i played hard to get em where they are and i didnt want to delete them. so i sent my other email address an invite just so i could play the event.

as stewie would say, "not cool man, not cool"

but those are my only real complaints

so GW + 100 for the awesome event, -2 for what i didnt like about it.

98/100 is my score

I was very disappointed with the overall update after about two hours of playing, so I just sat and watched the Cinematic trailer about a hundred times. It's much more impressive than the game.

This isn't the game, guys. It's a preview. You wont start at level 20 with top armor in the full game, and the merchants will of course be functional then.

It seems a new fresh take on GW, which is nice. If I've got a complaint it is that the graphics aren't as beautiful as I'd hoped. Yes, the textures are very high-res now (check the houses in the Marketplace), and it looks as if lighting has improved, so now the game is about on par with Half Life 2, but there's not the same imagination and playfulness as there was in Pre-Sear and in Sorrows Furnace/Grenths Footprint. I wonder if this was done by a different graphics team?
Then again, maybe I just prefer 'european' graphics to 'asian', or maybe I'm just suffering from GW burnout, having played since the week after launch, I don't know.

Now I'm off to try the 12vs12. Haven't done that yet.

I guess to a PVPer that would be something to not like, if you are on the other team :-P but to the pve crowd, -8degen to a monster would definitly put a mesmer in my group

Got a bug in the quest to kill all the Luxon scouting groups. Last group would not spawn. Searched all around the area, was standing right on the green star ..... nothing.

Also seems to be a lot of freeze up lag problems.

Other than that, it's okay.

the bug needs to be sent to guildwars. as for the lag and freeze you get, id check out your computer because the game seemed very fine for me and the people i were playing with

At this stage I can't justify a purchase, I wouldn't pay full price for what I consider an expansion. Most of the mobs I've encountered were variations on those in GW (yetis, jellyfish, skales etc) with the same animations. I wasn't that interested in either of the new classes, guess I'm burnt out on Guild Wars.

imo, the next best thing to GW is a game where you can "mount" things and pay every month for a cartoon-ish world

comparing chapter2 to that gets GW a +1 so we are back up to 99/100 score lol

I've hit both bugs: Lag freeze and the non-spawning party on the quest.

12v12 is better than advertised. No one knows what they are doing yet, but after 5 hours people are beginning to get a clue and owning as a result.

Well....I weren't impressed with the load times, but that is expected more or less. I do have one complaint.....namely the size of the new towns, though to be fair I think calling them cities is more appropriate. If they get much bigger they had better give us some way of traversing the city other than by running across the full length of it.

Life transfer + life siphon = -10 degen (actually -11), cheap and quite spammable, and most enemies can't do anything about it except die. It's a killer in random arena, but add a monk, interrupts and shatter hex and things change.

EDIT: Oh yeah, an important piece of news: female ritualists have wiggly boobs, just like eles!

Conjure nightmare -8 deg = 1 skill 1 more slot for conjure phantasm -5 dege or life transfer -7 life deg...

Life sip + life trans -10 (or more) deg = 2 skills 1 less slot...

I wasn't impressed, WASN'T, learn to speak english.

But I personally love any new content to GW at any price seeing at it is the only decent MMO there is.

I for one havent seen it yet. I signed expecting to build a new character and participate, but ANet decided to minimize how many people participate in this bets. I've already seen one mention in this thread of people who dont want to delete their characters theyve worked hard to get where they are, and I'm positive their are many many more who feel the same way.

Dont get it twisted, I love guild wars. But not giving us the oppurtunity to utilize what comes with the expansion? BS. At least LA will be fairly empty with the beta weekend.

Ranger skills are bugged, gonna report it later. The energy cost that says on some skills isn't the real one, -10 energy from what says on the skill is the case in many skills.

Elem spell graphics on the new skills are pretty tame. In some cases, even worse than Ch 1.

Female faces are range from plain to ugly. In the set of faces for Ch 1 there seemed to be several different artists involved as the styles vary a lot. In Ch 2 it seems all the faces were done by the artists I didnt like :/

Dissappointed at the number of clone skills. I hope they are placeholders or are at least modified a little. Also, the skills I would really want cloned (eg, fireball) are not cloned.

I'm not very happy with the update, simply because there's no real guidance. I mean, graphically it's amazing, I love the new areas and skills and monsters, but I felt a bit...lost. I think there's too much to do straight away. I don't think I'll play FPE again this weeked, too much pressure on me to get everything done (granted, it's myself applying the pressure but whatever).

Could it be? Maybe it's finally calculating your Expertise into what you see for your skill cost! Yay!

I'm confused about those, too. I don't understand the point. If they wanted to have copies of certain skills available to Factions-only characters, why not just set them to 'core' rather than 'Prophecies'? And the skill selection seems bizarre. Why make a clone of Spinal Shivers, of all things? And Whirlwind?

I just wish I understood the reasoning.

I agree, it's already somewhat annoying making the trek in Droknar's Forge, Lion's Arch, Henge of Denravi to visit the Xunlai Agents. This is pathetic, but when standing in Droknar's, I've zoned to another town to access storage to get what I need, then zoned back to Droknar's. So these huge towns are a bit of an annoyance. But then again, would we really want every town to be small like Port Sledge, Maguuma Stade, and so on?

I know exactly what you mean, I began to feel that during the Wintersday event wishing it would finally end so things would go back to normal. But as mentioned before, keep in mind that with the release of Factions, your character will start out at Level 1, in a training place sort of like Pre-Searing Ascalon. So then the feeling of being thrown out in the middle of an ocean without knowing how to swim will begin to subside(hopefully).

Well guys, you've mentioned the negative things, but what about the positive?
I am yet to play it until i get home in a few hours, but i still remember the good things i read about, such as Guild Alliances, controlling towns, etc.

But it looks like they've tried to save some of the good stuff for the actual game, but went ahead and left the bad things for us.

I dunno, i will try it in a little while.

Linsys - you aren't helping.

Complaining about complainers is oxymoronic. All you're going to do is start a flame war...

I think it's fine people are starting threads to express how they feel. That's kind of the whole point of having these forums in the first place... feel free to chime in with your experiences, but don't hate on complainers for simply saying their mind!

I just wish I was actually able to play, rather than being stuck at work...
