All the weird naked dancing people in Guild Wars.
Spoon Of Death
Is there anyway that I can put some cloths on all the naked dancing people? For what ever reason, people just decide to take off there cloths & start dancing around. Its pretty embarrassing when my wife comes in while two naked people are "dancing" and says "Hey why are those people having sex in your game"?
It would be great if there was some "Modesty switch" so I could keep the cloths on all the weird naked dancing people. Or maybe the Modesty Guards could come buy and toss them in prison for "Indecent Exposure".
What can I do with all the weird naked dancing people in Guild Wars?
Thanks!

Tell your wife you're not responsible for the actions of others? :P

Make a Warrior build, unequip all his Armor and make him dance for your wife. Problem solved.

Yes, I'm in a similar boat with my wife, so I hear your pain. ^_^ All the characters I saw wore underwear, even after removing all armor as stuff. Now, that's about as much as the average bikini/swimsuit, so there shouldn't be too much trouble there... as for the dancing and the ... ahem, "dancing", there's not a whole lot that can be done about that except being out of the city when that's going on.
I realise that's not much help, but it's the best I can offer. ;_;

when your wife asks you why they are naked and dancing.. well ... you could always dance naked for your wife. that would definitely draw her attention from the computer.

I didn't see any naked people in GW - only people in their underwear. So the only one resposible for your fantasies are yourself

I really hate sneaking around the game trying to avoid all the almost naked dancers and crazy underwear streakers. I would really love to be able to play this game without raised eyebrows from my wife and “People In Underwear” questions from my son.
I was hoping for a “Put some cloths on button” or even a “Keep your pants on District” would be fine. (help me please!)
In real life, you can say loudly “Hey, buddy, put some clothes on!” … and the people will show some reaction and realize what they are doing. In this game, there is no consequence to just running around in your underware …
You can say, “Hey its just a game…”. But, at some point, the graphics are so impressive, that situations can be shown that a Wife or a Parent would question is appropriate to view. As these games get better and more realistic, there need to be ways to either enforce standard social decency norms or create a filter if people are going too far.
If you say “its now worse than PG-13” … well that’s fine if you have a fast forward button, but it’s a bit tricky when your just standing there and you have all these crazy almost nude girls streaking by or dancing with a guy in his underwear.
Everyone has a threshold of what is “decent”. All I am saying is some of the players of the game are creating situations not appropriate. When a “passer by” (my wife and my kids) says “Are those guys having sex?”!!?!? Something tells me its too far (This has happened to me).
So, what can I do about all the crazy (Almost) nude people running around that look like they are (Almost) having sex?

lol, yeh the beginning of the elementalist dance and a ranger doing the kneel emote got me a stern lecture from my mother (no it wasn't me but it was hilarious... seeing how i'm 22 and not living at home but played BWE while visiting)

There is nothing you can do to force them to put on clothes, you can either:
#1 . Ask them to put clothes on (...even though they wont listen anyway)
#2. Leave the district
#3. Leave the city
#4. Shut down the game
#5. Tell your wife like nash said, your not responsible for other people dancing naked acting strangely in an online game where you have no control of their actions
Sorry

Well I totally second this as I am in the same boat. You should start a support group for Husbands with Jealous wives, or a Guild even [HwJW].
Anyhow, its no different than a gore option for them to turn on or off, I would like to turn dancing off completely as even fully clothed, some of the female dancers would warrant a wicked stare from my wife (Ele anyone).
Anyhow, I hope this thread gets some notice, I am sure we are not the only guys in this situation, though others may not want to admit it.
Thanks for bringing up the topic I have been ashamed to post my self.

So far as I know, there is nothing I know of that can (easily) solve the problem, short of not playing. Except maybe, Not playing when your wife and/or kids are likely to be around to look over your shoulder. Of course, this makes it seem like you're sneaking around, and it's just a flipping game, so I doubt that's much of a solution, either.
Write a letter to the powers that be. The worst that can happen is they totally ignore you.
If it helps, I do sympathise.

My wife gave me nasty looks at first also. But she just did the first time. The sad thing was that my son found out about it before I did.
He is 7.
The reason she let the undies go was to tell me that the girls look more suggestive with their cloths on than off.

I whole heartedly support you here. I just moved away from these types of things when in town, however, I'd rather there be no way people can remove their clothes. The problem is....there is no law against stupidity and as humans we usually gravitate to it regularly.

I tried to add a Poll to see if a feature might help this issue. I wanted some more buttons, but it only let me pick 2 options. I also emailed the [email protected]' to invite them to take a peek at this thread.
Thanks!
Thanks!

Is there anyway to have a positive option? Something like:
Don't care. Let the players do their own thing.
That way others who disagree with the whole censorship of other's preferences can have a say.

Myself, I've never seen any of these dance parties personally, since I'm using every available minute to run through the game and do missions and such. I'm also not in the situations where some of you guys are, considering I'm only 18 and have no wife. It doesn't bother me much at all, and my parents wouldn't mind if they saw anything going on (of course, my parents are insane, so it's only natural). I can see where you guys are coming from though.
Edit: Forgot to mention this, but I'd rather see this left alone, since once the game actually starts, I think that this type of public display will cut down drastically. At least it won't be as commonplace as it is near the ends of events, since it is the end of the event, and people are just trying to unwind.
Loviatar
i think this is going a bit overboard
they are not photo realistic
the *underwear* covers more than most real life underwear
and to top it off there are people who have complained the fully clothed toons were indecently exposed
no matter where the line is drawn someone will complain
if enough people complain they can stream in something else
lets let them get the game out before complaining
EDIT
how many would still complain if the exact same areas were covered but it was in a beach bikini style?

Like Loviatar said, there will always be people who will think that the clothing options are going overboard, so we can't make everybody happy, since if we changed how the dancing toons are and the "naked" dancing, then there would be those people who partake in those events who would complain.

I Agree and second.

It's not as much what they wear (or don't wear, as the case may be) IMHO, so much as what they do. A lot of the dances seem considerably more risque' than they need to be for the game, and how people behave with some of the emotes and overlapping can be quite... well, this is where, IMHO, a lot of the trouble comes in. Even if The Power That Be(tm) did tone down the visuals, people would still be acting stupid, in a non-public-area, "Mom and Dad are out for the weekend, let's have a rave" sort of way.
On the other hand, the Nekkid Parties seemed to be a way to celebrate the end of the BWE, and this may not happen very often once the game goes commercial. If things get sufficiently out of hand, TPTB(tm) might could maybe send in a brigade of Fire-Gwens and that'd be the end of that. ^_^

This type of nitpicking really bothers me. There are far worse thing's in this world and you choose to complain about an animation in a video game, shame on you.
1. It's a game-learn how to have fun with it.
2. Some people find dancing in the near nude "funny" or "entertaining".
3. You are NOT subjected to it- there are multiple districts in every town-every zone. Not a valid argument. Don't like it? leave the district.
4. Your maturity level should be high enough to be able to accept these small things. If your family doesn't approve, then don't play it around them, that simple.
Chat filters are reasonable and exist with good reason. Wanting people to "fix" up a command just so you don't have to watch undressed people dance is silly.

I appreciate that you feel this is a non-issue, but we feel it's important. And while your viewpoint is welcome, the derisive comments are slightly less so. ^_^

I agree 100% Bnet has too much to do with just getting the game out on time. I am one of the people who think the near-nude dancing is funny and have takin part in two nude danceing partys. Does that make me a bad person or should I not be Allowed to do so. Once you start Censorship it is hard to stop an in the end all you will make is a LAME game that trys not to ofend anybody and is utterly and completely BORING. The partys will mostly stop after the BWE anyway it is only the "World is comming to an End" feeling at the end of each BWE that spawns them. That being said as this Aprils BWE is the Last one I predict one more huge party and you can bet I will be there.

Actually, I think you'll find that Spoon of Death's original message was not that he wished everyone would conform to his wishes, just that he wanted to be able to play the game and not look at everyone else doing whatever. A subtle difference, I grant you, but an important one.

Don't trash people's moral standards. We're not idiots or less than human because we have them.
Bousiris Hierophos
Quote:
It is a very valid arguement because we have also paid for the game. And this game is not rated adults only. It is rated E. |
BTW, how can one complain about the moral message offered by a game that proudly features killing other human beings wantonly in a PvP arena? Naked dancing is wrong, but mass destruction of others based on guild tags is OK?
If they end up putting in a "nudity switch" so that people who are offended can turn it off, then fine. We'll all be happy. But Guild Wars is a work of commercial art created by the developers with their own creative expression in mind. If you don't appreciate it, then do whatever you do when a movie or song offends you: turn it off and go spend some quality time with your family.
And it really is true, what many people are saying ... once the BWE's are over and the game goes live, the naked dancing will likely stop. Unless, of course, people start doing it just to get a rise out of those of you who are likely to complain. Should I complain to A-Net because I think that Gwen's massacre last Sunday presents a negative rolemodel that might lead young girls to pyromania and serial killing?
Jeanette
it's rated T, as it shows on the guild wars main site.
