Unable to Connect

I was playing this morning and around 11:00am EST I got kicked off. I've not been able to connect after that. I get "Guild Wars was unable to connect to the server due to a network server error.
If this problem persisits, please visit www.guildwars.com/support for additional help. (Err=5)" I went to the site and didn't find anything helpfull. Is the server down?

I'm having the same problem, got through intro, got droped and now i cant connect. reinstalled to no effect

Ya my reinstall didn't help either. Its like the Guild Wars' server is ignoring my request I can't do anything. I tried make a new accout and won't even connect to that. I get that unable to connect error. I'm going to try and get ahold of someone from support now.

Well I don't feel so bad now knowing that there are other people with the same problem. Brian please let us know if they send you any kind of respon I sent in a question too. I'll post back here when I get a reply. Thing is they said they would reply within the next bussniess day. Man we are gonna lose a day of game time.

Then you all died at the exact some time approximately? That isn't a good sign... I'd say check your router/firewall configuration but unless they made changes then it wouldn't be that... are you all using the same OS? See if you have similar configurations:

same thing happening to me, except i never got in the first time, around 9:30 EST i started getting the Err=5 message, 4 hours later, still the same.

I see two netgear routers and two XP (possibly two SP2's). This may mean nothing, but if we get 10 people with the same then we know that there might be an issue with an item or combination of items, otherwise it's just an ArenaNet bug.

Hmmm... I'm having the same problem. I don't have SP2, but I do have a Netgear router. A WGR614 v5, to be exact. I've been in contact with support, although they're first response was no help. It was:

Ya I don't think its the computer, its definatilly on their side. I was wondering if maybe I got booted, but my charater is still in game. If you can connect and are on the America server could you do a search for Ryuken Shadowseeker and see if he is online? Thanks.

EDIT: Well if RedOmen and Ryuken are not behind a netgear router, then the only similarity is SP2 (and possibly it's firewall/ built in protection)... network wise.
Not a problem, I'll even be on when playing as I posted somewhere else. This is actually the most critical time to have helpful people on.

I replied to let them know that I wasn't in the account creation process and had already been logged in. We'll see what they say.

I'm not sure how switching to a d-link would help, I tried reseting my router didn't work. I can see now Guild Wars is not gonna be nice to me

Ok if I disconnect from my router and plug straight into the cable I can run the game. Why? I don't get it I was able to log on and play this morning from my router. I would switch and use the cable straight but other people connect the the net through the router so its not really a fix for me.

Ok this is messed up. I was just able to connect through my router. The only thing I did is when I got in using the cable (direct connetion) I loged out. I switch my connection back to the router. I tried to connected and got the same message. I was about to give up tried to connected one more time and it let me in. Don't know if that is a fix or if they got it fixed on their end.
